The reason Otto and Alicents were looking for aegon separately is because he wants to convince him to kill rhenerya to secure the throne while Alicent wants to convince him to spare rhenerya.

Fun facts about Meleys ( Rhaeynys's dragon):
It's a female dragon, also known as "The Red Queen" because of the crown shaped bones on her head and cause of the red color ofc.
She is the fastest dragon, she's even faster than Caraxes.
    Also, she's 3-4 biggest at this point. (Vhagar>The Cannibal>Vermithor>Caraxes/Meleys)
Before Rhaenys she was ridden by Alyssa Targaryen, the mother of Viserys and Daemon :)
Meleys is a pretty powerful dragon 🔥🖤

@@silveratlas2706 If I remember correctly Silverwing is a bit smaller than Caraxes. but I just realized that I forgot about Sheepstealer which is almost as huge as The Cannibal, but both of those dragons are wild and untamed so they're not as popular as the rest. Meleys is about 5th biggest dragon then.

Funny that you guys said that people don’t like Daemon and it’s only the gold cloaks who support him. One of Daemons nicknames is Lord of Flea Bottom as he was beloved by the smallfolk of Kings Landing, probably due to the decrease in crime in the city while he was Lord Commander of the City Watch. The earlier episodes he was always somewhere in a brothel in Flea Bottom. He always preferred to spent his time with the people in the gutters than in the Red Keep.

The greens were absolutely robbed in this episode smh, in the books Aegon and Helaena flew around the city with the dragons Sunfyre and Dreamfyre at their coronation (Heleaena was also crowned, and Alicent addressed her as "my queen"), and instead we got this weird scene with Rhaenys that doesn't make sense (How did she not get crushed by the concrete? Why did she had to kill hundreds of people by bursting through the floor when previous episodes have shown there are proper entrance/exits for the dragons in the pit?).
It could've been salvageable if Sunfyre and Dreamfyre were there to counter Meleys (Rhaenys' dragon) and made her flew away, giving her a good reason not to torch the greens right then and there.
Not to mention that when Aegon was told that he's going to be king, he points out that Rhaenyra is the rightful heir and said something along the line of "what kind of brother would steal his sister's birthright?", and was only convinced to be king after Criston Cole pointed out that while Aegon lived, Rhaenyra's strong boys could never sit the throne securely (and he's right, for Jacaerys to secure his throne, all other claimants, especially Aegon, have to be out of the picture).

What's interesting about Aemond saying he's next in line, is that it isn't true.
    Aegon has kids.
That's a very important thing to remember about Aemond going forward.
I also find it so interesting how Otto preached that Rhaenyra would murder Alicent's children to further stake her claim and we all know that Rhaenyra of past episodes would never even consider it.
But now... Now he's possibly created a self fulfilling prophecy. Not to mention the hypocrisy with which the Greens do everything. To say Rhaenyra will kill her children to Otto freely giving orders to murder Rhaenyra and her family.
That more than anything is why I'm team Black. I can't handle the hypocrisy and moral highground they stand on.

Thats the point of this civil war between blacks and greens. Both sides are bad and do equally evil stuff. Btw Daemon never wanted the crown, if he did. He could’ve easily taking it when he had corlys laena and vhagar on his side. What he wanted was for his brother to give him attention and have him as his hand of the king to protect him from ppl like otto. That’s what makes him a fan favorite, his love and loyalty for his family. George described him in the books as “part light and part dark. "everything you feel for me….as your queen." That’s the “it’s yours. It’s always yours” level of palpable sexual tension. I can’t handle. Ironic cause in a way they are the cersei and jaime of this show. the last 3 mins aside, this was an excellent episode. it felt like a white house political thriller with a "race against time" feel from start to finish suspense.I love nothing more than the political aspects of the series. When Otto was moving the chess pieces, Beesbury yelling..I was on the edge of my seat. You know it's good when people are already screaming for compeuppance lol. Tom Glynn-Carney showed excellent range as Aegon. But it got overshadowed by 3 mins of a Rhaenys "happy ending" smh. I think that the “feet thing” for Larys Strong is much more about having the power over Queen Alicent to get her to humiliate herself like that for him. Larys official title at court is as the Lord Confessor, which basically means he is in charge of torture and execution. The show did not make this very clear. You do hear Otto referred to Larys with that title once in this episode. But the book this show is based on makes that much more clear. IMO, Larys is the type of person who would enjoy the humiliation as much as any other aspect of what he is doing with Alicent. If you go back to the earlier episode when Larys and Alicent ate a meal together, you will see that when Alicent entered the room she took off her shoes before sitting down at the table with Larys. That was just an odd detail of the time. But now it appears to have had more significance. BTW, if you want to keep track of which twin is Erryk and which one is Arryk, just remember that the one whose name starts with an A remains in King’s Landing with Aegon and Alicent.

  • @sam_c95

33:28 The reasons why Daemon and Rhaenyra hooking up was taboo and scandalous back in episode 4 was because Rhaenyra was a noble girl and a maiden and sex outside of wedlock is a sin and devalues her politically, and also because Daemon was already married and being disloyal to his wife is not a good look, and taking a second wife isn't allowed. The Faith and the Targaryens fought a massive conflict over polygamy and incest not too long before this time - the Targaryens managed to maintain their incestuous traditions but they essentially lost when it came to polygamy - they never did it since. Daemon marrying Rhaenyra in episode 7 was scandalous because their former partners Laena and Laenor were barely dead(/"dead") before they married and it's suspected Rhaenyra had a role in Laenor's death, and they married in secret without the king's leave. The incest is seen as weird by most of the Seven Kingdoms but it is accepted/tolerated for Targaryens because they are the god-like dragon-riding rulers, but the incest wasn't the most scandalous aspects of Daemon and Rhaenyra's relationship despite how viewers feel about it. The Faith still has an issue with it though, and Alicent and House Hightower are very religious and have strong ties with the Faith which is based in their city of Oldtown at this time.
Aegon and Helaena is also seen as weird by most Westerosi as far as the incest goes but once again is tolerated. It wasn't scandalous because it was very common for a son and daughter to marry in the Targaryen family - King Viserys' parents were siblings, grandparents were siblings, and great-great-grandparents were siblings. Viserys was following tradition. Aegon and Helaena's marriage was a first marriage so no polygamy, and was approved by the king, so no controversy. I don't expect it was Alicent's choice because she's weirded out by the incest and is pretty religious, but I expect it was Viserys' choice and Alicent had to make peace with it. Marrying them to each other meant that Viserys can avoid having to upset one house in the pleasing of another and avoid all the politicking.

In the Books, Alicent was very knowledgeable about everything and her heart was always one with Otto. Aegon is painted so differently in the show than the book, but because of the feminist message we all have to abide by now this guess. Also Alicent is not without power. She threatens the master of law with the Wall and that convo with Rhaenys goes counter to what actually is happening. She has Larys and Criston under her thumb doing her bidding. Powerless; I think not. And the whole talk of King Viserys being weak is nonsense. He was the second most peaceful king that never plunged the realm into war. Women are very capable of destruction just look at what Rhaenys did in the dragon pit at the coronation. She killed thousands of small folk. No, these women have power. She’s a dragon rider.

Rhaenys, with the knowledge she had at the moment did the right thing by not murdering all of them.
    1. Kinslaying is the biggest of all taboos in Westeros. The worst thing you can do.
    2. She doesn't know the future. Doesn't know about The Dance. She showed them the finger for trying to keep her locked up, took back her dragon, and now Blacks have a huge advantage in dragon count, so maybe now Hightowers will agree to give up the crown for some guarantees of safety. WE know they won't, but why would she?
    3. We know Helena would be an innocent victim, and we know Rhaenys doesn't consider Alicent evil, and power hungry. Aemond's a dick, but he still didn't do anything that would justify death. Aegon's a monster, but how would Rhaenys know that? Nobody knew in the Red Keap other than his sworn defendor from the King's Guard, so for Rhaenys it's all just innocent victims
    4. She said she must "stand alone". It's not her fight. Alicent and Rhaenyra should settle it together.

I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to splitting the treasury or locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It feels more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble.
*Jokes aside, Tfw u only support our Green Lives Matter King for extermination of Strong Boys cause ur pro Valeryian blood supremacy.*
