Wow, I love how you blend all those chromatic jazzy licks with an almost metal, kinda progressive, dynamic. You are an awesome player, it's one of my Hanckock favorite song!
My father was like Kevin, he could play anything and everything. He was also like you. God gave him a overflowing plate of musical talent. He achieved a Master's degree in music and could play any instrument well except for a pedal steel guitar, which as he said was from Mars or somewhere other than earth LOL😂. Listening to you play gives me great pleasure Alex, much like listening to my Father play his classical music, or boogie. Loved the Boogie! Thanks again for sharing your extreme talent, how about some old school Boogie next?
If Joe Pass was alive to see this, I think he would smile at the improvisation which can be heard and the performer interaction that can be seen!! Thank you for recording and uploading this Alex, I really dig this!!!
Sheeesh!! So you guys have been playing together since pre-school days, right? 😂🤣 I grew up 50 years ago with that Herbie stuff (along with Sextant and Crossings!!) - it is just infinitely thrilling to see you guys with this music the way you are all these years later. Thank You. Music, the universal constant - along with y’all’s power of reinvention. Wind ever at your backs 🖖🏾
Alex Hutchings is a serious contender for the top line guitarists list! He has taken sweep-style picking and made it an acceptable melodic addition to jazz/funk/fusion. Sweeping can become extremely boring because it is a fixed pattern that must be repeated again, and again!
Everybody sounds great. Everybody other than the bass player sounds fantastic. Everybody other than the bassist, guitarist, and keyboardist sounds incredible.
Excelente cada días me trastornó Más con la música y el jazz, cada vez me Pregunto que hubiese dicho mi abuelo. Me habría colgado del parron? O se habría colocado un cintillo en su pelada? Increíble esto me trasforma ....
Chapeau, chapeau, chapeau for everyone! High Difficult Music Style from the First Choice, first Class, first Cream ……but so Easygoing performing……HUTCHI - are the music genres , you don’t know ??? 😮 My goodness, why, why ,why …….do I have to suffer for a happiness ? It’s so divine until it hurts ! Wonderful Pain ! 🔨🎸 PS. What can I do for You for this EXPERIENCE? Maybe COOK 👨🍳?🤣
2.09 - allan holdsworth all over. this was fucking sick, had the pleasure of meeting alex at the bristol international jazz and blues festival, he was such a nice guy, invited us to the after-party/jam before wondering off and chatting with other festival goers, fair play that man
I 100% believe this! He’s so chill man. Responds to his fan’s comments on UA-cam too. Seems really grounded and humble - which is amazing because not many people would be if given his gifts
Kevin has a bit of Greg Lorber in his style. Nice playing. Bass player does not feel the vibe and thus never cuts loose at solo time. That moment is called "red tabby cat" time when the "cat" needs to go crazy for a moment. Missed it. Missing heart and skill.
Maybe you're too critical here,, remember,, this song played at the tempo and accented timing parts limits just how loose/funky the bass player can get!!! And Alex usually works his songs out and demands that each player sticks to the intended score!!!
What a crisp band! I just don't understand the circuit this guy's on. It seems 95% of his material here on UA-cam is either him in a studio, or else appearances at trade-shows, malls, or conventions or something. I guess it's not his focus, but I don't know why he's not on big concert stages the way you see gigs by Al Jarreau or Lee Ritenour, for instance.
Any material or approaches you can recommend for an uneducated metal player to start getting some jazz gears turning? Your playing has totally changed my mindset, I can't get enough
haha side slippin love it. its also fun to play all notes outside the scale for 2 beats, come back inside for 2 following beats, go back outside for 1, then go back in for 3 (assuming we're in 4/4). I call that one 'convincing the drunk' :)
Wonderful playing of course; only eclipsed by the fabulous names! *_Phoowich Tawasinchanadech_* - is this really the name of the bass player? I initially mistook it as an onomatopoeia for something embarrassing that happens after a chicken vindaloo.
As yes, Vinadloo, thank you for calling technical support my friend. Have you RrrrrrrEbooted your computer? Also can I have your social security number for my records? My name is "bob".
You know a guitarist is an absolute master when he can improvise lines like those while having so much fun doing it.
Wow, I love how you blend all those chromatic jazzy licks with an almost metal, kinda progressive, dynamic. You are an awesome player, it's one of my Hanckock favorite song!
What a superb guitar performance and a great supporting lineup.
Thanks man.. Much appreciated
THE DRUMMER KILLED IT!
Definitely he's the highlight.
awesome playing! your drummer and bass are beast too. so locked in and nuanced. damn... much much respect
Thank you mate. 👍 Yeah they're cool .😎
master!!!
Hutchings, Hutchings... what a beast! 🎸🎸👏👏👏👏
Sounds so good together. You cats were fancy-tastic. Biddy- biddy bop!
Cheers MAte. 👍🎸🙏
The fusion dancer! Lol. He's just being himself. Just killer playing. On fire!
Amazing, and a contender for the best guitar face ever!
The drummer is the best here. Seriously.
His name is so long they don't announce it.
Matej Fele
You play drums very badly, and you are not a musician with the knowledge to evaluate these musicians, seriously (I have seen your walks) 😉
Is true!
ALIENACIÓN PARENTAL, MALTRATO INFANTIL #swing
He's definately up to the task..... very tasty chops
Such a cool, cool take on a classic! Whooo!
Thanks mate.... This was a fun gig.. Thanks for watching
This is awesome... I've had it bookmarked for a year, and just keep coming back to it!

This is the highest form of music, respect for these mucisians.
Haven’t watched this for a while but Alex us amazing. I’ve not seen anyone feels and be one his music like Alex does. He’s an amazing musician.
If Joe Pass was alive to see this, I think he would smile at the improvisation which can be heard and the performer interaction that can be seen!! Thank you for recording and uploading this Alex, I really dig this!!!
I think that's true. I'd love to see Alex and James Muller (Aussie jazz / jazz fusion) get together. That would be worth seeing.
Sheeesh!! @Alex Hutchings this is the one mate!!! Cheers. Keep on the wizardry,
It is one of the best jam i Ever seen
You are the best Alex and the band.

Cripes! That was transcendent, and amazingly youth-inducing. Hutchins and entourage surpassed Zappa and Grapelli in this medium. Wow. 😃
Thank you so much sir... So pleased you enjoyed this 👍🎸🙏
@@AlexHutchingsMusic Then we're both well pleased. This fun comes for free.
The band is great.
Much better than I had any right to expect
Thank you . 👍🎸🙏
That bassist put in Thai folk bass lick on some part, cool stuff.
Alex was smooth and groovy as always.
EVERYONE killed it!
I mean this as a complement. Alex is SO under rated. Is that one or two words?
very very quickly becoming one of my new favorite players.
Joder, esto es increíble, los músicos de jazz son unos fenómenos.
You are quite the dude, dude! Merry Holidays.
Unexpectedly, the best version I've heard of this song. Alex was amazing!
Reminds me of heathrow airport in December 🎉🎉
Alex great great! But the drummer also very very good. Keys and bass too!
Thanks man, yeah I love Tony.. the Drummer, such a great vibe.. Other guys too 👍🙏🎸

I'd love to hear this unit play 'Black Nile' by Wayne Shorter. 🤣

Do you still have this axe with you mr alex ? You should play with this guitar more often, this guitar is pretty sick !
There's certainly some Frank Gambale in Alex's playing here!
Perfekt !
great tune for guitar improv
Virtuo 😍
Wow!
My Audio Technica headphones is happy with the drummer.
