after seeing your other video about magnet tiles i found a second hand set of similar tiles online that i ordered, and while looking for them i actually found a very different set of magnetic toys that looked perfect for scifi terrain, it's called MagnetCubes and is actually used to make tracks for marbles, but i thought they looked perfect for terrain. I bought a massive set second hand for just 10 dollars and i'm gonna try to make a bunch of cyberpunk terrain with it. great to see you posting more magnet tile videos, very inspiring
You know, Black Magic Craft made a really good point in a video that the space has gone from home-brew arts 'n' crafts, to full on Hollywood prop making and detailing on a professional level. Thank you for putting something out there at my current skill level that doesn't feel like I'm ramping up for a master class course. Makes me smile.
Once I saw this a couple weeks ago it immediately inspired me. I bought a set of tiles and and got to work a couple hours a day and now I have 10 3” tiles and 2 6” tiles all double sided with wood texture/stone texture. I then realized I could take apart some of the awkward angled pieces and take the magnets out to magnetize indoor terrain that will stick to the floor! Doors, beds, bookshelves etc. You’ve inspired me in a great way and made my table experience 100% better
I've been using the kids magna tiles and old skylanders toys to make up dungeon crawls for them. I've been daydreaming of converting them to something I can use for DnD, with them.
I bought 2 boxes of magnet tiles just because of you, sir. 120 tiles that I can use in some glorious maps. Thanks for the heads up on the cardboard layers between the foam and plastic tiles:) also a fan of Middle Earth Tabletop so I'll be watching these cinematics too!
So much potential with this! I just have to wait for my 3.5 year old to get tired of his tiles and I'll be set. Those battle reports sound more entertaining than the standard ones
I’m in the same boat! So hard to not go out and buy more, but if I’m patient… the reward is great. And thanks for the kind words about the battle reports, there’s definitely a place for full length ones, but I think faster paced ones could really encourage new players to jump in
I'm a big tabletop nerd but I have never gotten much into making any sort of terrain or anything for them as it just wasn't the sort of environment I grew up in, now that I'm an adult I'm thinking about getting into Warhammer 40k as I really like the new Leagues of Votann and being a 3d printing and modeling nerd I might try printing out thin 3x3 terrain tiles to then glue to the magnetic tiles.
Its sort of amazing it has taken so long for this to become a thing and if you were the first to do it then amazing. Can buy individual tiles (not kits, although there are a lot on there) off ali express for
I hear that Zorpazorp guy is pretty solid when it comes to info about painting up stonework too! Oh: MESBG fan too? That explains the love for Lauchie too! In any case, I’ve currently got a huge tub of these tiles hidden away in my office as the kids manage to find an extra level of violence towards each other whenever we have them out. This is pretty inspiring: my youngest wants to play the “pew pew game” with me so it’d probably be quite fun to have her help me assemble (unmodified) terrain beforehand too. I was just planning on smashing up some polystyrene that I’ve put aside from the last couple appliance we brought but this is much tidier!
I really think this idea is gonna get huge any time soon, ZorpaZorp and BMC will be making a version any day now. Congrats on being the pioneer. Any plans on making 40K Cinematic battle reports? I'll definitely be here for it.
Thanks for the compliment! I most likely won’t ever do 40K narrative battle reports because the lore is too dense and I don’t know most of it. I know Lotr like the back of my hand! Also each narrative video takes about 8-12 hours from start to finish (which takes me a few weeks to find that kind of time). So I’ll be busy with Lotr videos at least until next year haha 😅
Hmm, used foam that was a bit thick. I guess for cheap foam you would really need a hot wire cutter table to cut it in half. Beyond that it looks like it is a really good idea! EDIT What you could do is get foamcore and peel one side off and use that, that would make it quite a bit thinner. Woudn't be as cheap, or maybe it would, depending on how you bought your foamboard I guess.
Instead of using white glue, has anyone considered E6000 adhesive? That should adhere to both plastic and foam, one would think? I'm going to do a Magnet tile project soon for a game I'm running.
They are designed for younger children (the kind that stick things in their mouth), so I doubt you’ll find squares that are that small, BUT I have seen some sets that come with half sized tiles. They are 3x1.5 inches. Hope that helps!
nothing is more Satisfying to see then a small chanel get bigger
Even more satisfying than dry brushing? 😂
1 grit sandpaper is what you used there, good sir.
"Lady, you're scaring us."
Billy Madison.
Great video.
😂😂 thanks bud

Haha yeah I wish I was as good as so many of the UA-camrs I see. But it’s a hobby, and it’s fun. That’s all that matters.
Great dungeon tiles. And I'm really glad people have taken your magnet tile idea and run with it.

That’s so cool!!!! Thanks for sharing! Have you posted any pics of it? I’d love to see your work
I don’t have much social media besides discord. Is there any group you’re apart of so I could share it?

This was fun. Would love to see this format used to better explain rules to all kinds of tabletop games.

Gotta love billy madison references 😂
You are criminally undersubscribed
Thanks Sam, that’s very kind.
Genius dude. Love it!
love the tiles, it reminds me of Final fantasy tactics

Do it! I’d love to see it when you’re done!

I seriously doubt I’m the first. Just maybe the first to make a video of it lol
Love to see it
I’m excited to dive into your bat reps!
Thanks Jake!

Haha yeah man, put those tiles to good use!
This is so inspiring! Thanks for making these videos. We’ll done!
Happy to help! Thanks for the kind words
Thinner foam, I think, so it can be used in more orientations
Totally! I was just using what I had on hand. Probably should have said that in the video 😅
Another option would be to use foam board from the dollar store instead of the thicker foam. Then you can draw bricks into it with a ballpoint pen.
Great idea!
I'm happy to say I'm your 666th subscriber :P

Totally! Just used what I had 😅
Can you make it work with lego? 😆
I have a bunch of minifigures and would like to make dioramas that can be customized once in a while
2:31 he's got a 1 grit!
Lol you’re the second person to say that, I’ve not heard that before
@@markdickey It's a joke from the DankPods youtube channel about sandpaper grit. 1 grit just being a rock.

I am struck with the sudden urge to build a modular heroquest board with magnet tiles.
Oooooh do it! Do it! Do it!
Anyone happen to find smaller magnet tiles? I'm looking for sets that would be 1.5 inch x 1.5 inch. Most I can find are 3 x 3
They are designed for younger children (the kind that stick things in their mouth), so I doubt you’ll find squares that are that small, BUT I have seen some sets that come with half sized tiles. They are 3x1.5 inches. Hope that helps!
Watches zorpazorp.
Does not undercoat stone with multiple colours.
My guy...
😅
I know how yous kids like 'em
hahahahahaha
