Who's watching this, 2020, Tommy Shaw, now 66, and James Young now 70, still as good as ever, playing to sold out venues everywhere!! What a legendary band.
@@bcb2555 just saw them in June of 2021. If TS is 66, I must be 60. Didn't feel like it. Felt like when I was a high-school senior in 79, and they were on the top of the music world. Tommy, JY, Chuck and all the rest are still giving more than you paid for.
Don't forget the most important part...the super performance of CYO, Contemprary Youth Orchestra and Chorus!! Seeing these kids so ecited to perform with Styx, most of which their parents weren't even born yet!! Excellent and Bravo kiddos!!
The kids having so much enthusiasm for music gives me chills! Styx yes! Their collaboration with CYO takes them to a whole otherworldly level. Thank you Styx and CYO!
Man, we hung out and played call to duty and gta all weekend what did you do? Not much visited grandma Friday night and jammed with STYX all night Saturday.
Can't believe people actually expect bands that are 35 plus years old to be completely intact and if they are not, well, let's trash them for having the nerve to continue. This was the coolest video I've seen in awhile. Great that these kids got to hear a superb rock band. They played great as well and props the their director for making it happen.
This is what we need more of in this world . Look at those kids having a Blast and they will remember this for the rest of their lives . We need more Bands like Styx doing these kinds of Programs all over the world . Styx just made 1,000,000 new FANS from 10 - 90 . If more of the big named bands were doing this there is no stopping music in schools . Parents would DEMAND Music in schools . Thank you Styx ....
I saw this concert on Directv and it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. All of these young people performing Styx greatest hits and nailing it!
Tommy Shaw still has it.... eve when he was with damn Yankees he was clearly the most talented one in the group.. Ted nugent is bonkers to begin with...lol...
The kids had a BLAST feeling the music! I'm so blessed to have been born in the 60's growing up hearing bands like this. I feel sorrow for the crap kids call music today.
Amen! I wish there were more (good quality ) videos of CYO with Styx and many other groups. I grew up in the '60s, '70s, and onward, w/ some damn good music, it's so fun to see these kids and their parents having such a damn good time! I was a choir kid, and dabbled in some good times and also a garage band for a minute....what I wouldn't give to be one of these kids!! What an awesome collaboration , and experience for these kids!!😎👍🏻

Chicago boys still going strong. Tommy Shaws voice sounds the same as it did back in the 70's. Even without the heroin. Styx is one of the greatest bands ever. All musicians are great in their own discipline. The drummer, in my opinion, is as close to the best,( Neal Pert ) drummer as anyone can get. Great post though drooling doesn't come to mind when I think of Tommy Shaw. Ish bad image.
Styx...Tommy Shaw is/are VERY smart getting kids involved with their music...pass onto the next generation and Tommy makes this look effortless and his wife also is involved. Kids and parents smiling ear to ear...what's not to like in a millennial generation that fears getting shot going to school! Rock music changes the world...
All those kids should have been heard better. I bet they were playing their hearts out for all the vids. Styx will always be one of the greatests and I thank them and the fans. Rock on.
I just love the energy the CYO have. Warms my heart to see young people enjoying classic rock! And just think of the memories these kids will have from paying with different rock legends like styx and Jon anderson.
I cant believe all the cry babies here. I love this band I have loved them since the mid 70's. I have seen them almost a dozen times with and withoug Dennis. This band I believe is better with Dennis. Dennis sang most of the ballads while Tommy did the rocking vocals. They were a great duo. James Young is so underrated its not even funny. Tommy is also underated as a guitar player. I would love to see Dennis with this band he belongs. But he is not. So Gowan is a great great replacement.
For these kids, this is the stuff dreams are made of. The raw energy and dedication to the performance is so tangable through out the entire performance. It will inspire many generations to come. Bravo!
Raji your hero was turning this rock band into a bubble gum band. Babe? WTF? They are great in this performance and so is the CYO. The Panazzo brothers were the founders. Dennis was a good compliment for a while but he became too much of a micro manager.
Those kids didn't sleep for 2 day's prior or 3 day's after!. Everyone one of them loved everyone moment of them.❤. Music and song have power that we can see and hear clearly in these moments.
+Jonathan Tremblay I know right it's like they accepted Public Enemy, don't get me wrong I love Public Enemy but they aren't rock and roll, also Madonna and ABBA so more like Rock and Roll Hall of Shame
Look at this. Younger generations enjoying this music as much as I did upon it's release. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you kids, for carrying on something I enjoyed so much in my youth.
Still rockin after all these years. Saw Tommy & JY for the first of many times in the Meadowland's Arena in NJ back in 1980. They Both sound exactly the same now as they did then. No lie!
Yeah the band was tired of Dennis telling them what to do, so they found a wicked singer/pianist and front man to replace him, who does a great job and makes the songs his own. What more could the band want? They LOVE playing with Gowan.
All good! They are coming to our neck of the woods this fall. Can't wait to see them. Yes, original lineups 35 yrs later a very tall order indeed. This is them in 2013 and they sound great. Hope you get to see them as well. I saw Lawrence Gowan open for Supertramp and Styx with Dennis DeYoung in the early 80s.
This version/video was the reason I chose to have Renegade as one of the first tattoos I had done.... the other one at the moment is Styx, one on each wrist.
I've seen these guys about 40 times and this line up gives you the best show of them all. If you want uo see DeYoung and his fluff he tours. Thanks to his Killroy concept we almost had 80,000 riot in Dallas because it sucked so bad. These guys come out to put on show every night.
Styx are a Fantastic rock band! I too have seen them with Dennis and with Gowan, I would have to say L.G. is the perfect replacement, But on that note I still miss a couple of the ballads, Babe, and Lady. Keep Rockin' Guys.Always love to see you in Vancouver.

Now 52 yrs in. Better than ever

The kids did a whole special concert with him. Most is on UA-cam and is even better. There's a CD and DVD which probably makes money for the orchestra

You know what is 80 long with twelve teeth in it? Front row at a Ted Nugent concert.
These kids are rocking out to their parents music. Real Rock and Roll.
After seeing this on UA-cam I had to get the DVD. Just a hoot to see the kids have so much fun.
More like their GRANDPARENTS music!
Something they will not forget.
