Technically, even the cherry blossom species is wrong. The cherry blossoms shown in the trailer look like Yoshino cherry blossoms, which are a hybrid variety bred about 200 years after the game's story.

I think some people may be misled by the radical title.
First of all, Japanese people have no intention of discriminating against black people.
The main character of ACS is Yasuke. According to UBI, the game is historically accurate.
Yasuke is a real person. This can be confirmed in the ancient document "Nobunaga Koki" written by Gyuichi Ota over 400 years ago. However, there is no mention of Yasuke being a samurai. The fact that Yasuke's accomplishments and last name are not mentioned is the reason why he is not a samurai.
Yasuke is not a samurai. This is not a negative thing about black people. I'm just telling historical facts.

Up until now, when incorrect information about Japanese history came out in various works, all I could think was that the screenwriters were ignorant, didn't do proper research, or didn't hire experts. In this case, Ubisoft's announcement that it was ``produced faithfully to historical facts'' is an insult to Japan and discrimination against Japanese people. We cannot remain silent about this. This game is trash.

Japan has been a country where subculture has been prevalent for a long time. "The black man who served Nobunaga" is a very attractive material for fan fiction, and it started to be used as a fictional story in the mid-Edo period. In the latter half of the Edo period, various fictional stories with Yasuke as the main character were created, and the same was true in the Meiji and Showa periods.
So "Yasuke is a samurai" itself is not a big problem. What is problematic is UBI's words and actions and attitude when he says "it's historical fact", and his attempt to make historical distortions and falsifications historical fact.
The other big problem is the unauthorized use of intellectual property and portraits. Many of the cases that have been found regarding these are big problems that would not be surprising if they were lawsuits.
What UBI is doing is not acceptable. From another perspective, UBI and the games he created seem to be a fuel depot that constantly dumps ideas (blunders) for creation from the Japanese perspective.

    この時代の侍はただの武士ではありません。
    Google翻訳だと武士はsamuraiと書かれてしまいますが、武士と侍が同じ意味と見なされるようになったのは、戦国時代より後の時代の話です。
The samurai (侍:samurai)of this era were not just samurai(武士:bushi).
According to Google Translate, samurai(武士:bushi) is written as samurai, but samurai (武士:bushi)and samurai(侍:samurai) were not considered to have the same meaning until after the Sengoku period.
    このことが今回の問題を混乱させた原因の一つにも思います。
I think this is one of the reasons why this problem is so confusing.

      【Adding to his statement】
The word "侍/さむらい(samurai)" is derived from the ancient Japanese word "さぶらう(saburau)," which means to serve by the side of a noble. It can be seen from the fact that the word "samurai" is included in the word for the office of one who serves a superior, as in "侍従(attendant)" or "侍女(lady attendant)".
The word originated around the Heian period (794-1185) and was first used for those who served the emperor, the 皇室(Kou-shitsu/imperial family), and the nobility. The term was transformed to refer to those in the ruling class who served those in high places, but the essence of the term remained the same. They eventually came to have their own power and military might, and began to fight for control of the whole of Japan.
During the Warring States period, the period in which the ACS takes place, the 天皇(Ten-nou/Emperor's) rule was only nominal. The samurai (大名/daimyo, meaning those who controlled many feudal lands) who held power in various regions began to fight to gain real control, but they remained vassals of the Emperor, who was the nominal ruler of Japan. Hence, they were still called samurai.
Those who served such lords were also called samurai. They had clans, provided for their families, ruled their domains, collected taxes, provided troops, and supported their lords in battle.
In contrast, the Bushi(武士) were warriors, so to speak.
The word "武(bu)" refers to the use of a spear to subdue conflict.
The word "士(shi)" refers to a person engaged in a profession.
In other words, the word "Bushi" means a warrior.
Samurai were also Bushi because they had influence through their military prowess.
But Bushi does not necessarily mean that one was a samurai. Samurai were people in the ruling class of samurai society.

If i am correct UBI is a French company, in a country dealing with mass immigration. A country that has taken a far right turn in its government that went out of its way to create a game with a "samurai that represents us". A company with white far right people creating a black LGBTQ character that represents them. Something is wrong over here. It clearly doesn't stick unless it was specifically done this way with a objective in mind.

UBI and Lockley are trying to make people believe that the "legendary black samurai" really existed.
As proof of that, UBI still lists him as a "legendary samurai."
I knew about Yasuke, but I had never heard of the ``legendary black samurai.''

I will skip the explanation about the false Yasuke samurai theory (a historical revisionism caused by a specific individual named Tottori Tom), as other Japanese people have already elaborated on this. However, if those countries feel humiliated and their pride wounded, they should take action just like the Japanese have.
We watched and laughed at the incompetent Japanese company in Robocop 3 and the somewhat strange Japanese company in Back to the Future. We’ve enjoyed every “misinterpreted Japan” with amusement.
Japanese people, who rarely get angry and have been tolerant of various misconceptions about Japan, are reacting so intensely this time. Doesn’t it make you want to find out the reason for this? If you don’t, that’s fine. But if you intend to know, you should ask, “Why are Japanese people so angry this time?”

It’s up to u and your community to preserve your cultural heritage, history etc. from others infringing upon it.
For an example, it is now taken as fact that Vikings wore horns on helmets or that all Vikings wore tattoos all over their bodies etc. innocuous, I know but those things we associate with Vikings aren’t true at all. But it doesn’t matter now because those tropes will never leave Viking iconography and they can’t correct those misconceptions, since they’re long gone.
The Japanese are still here though. They take their culture, and history seriously.
