I agree with a lot of the stuff in the video, but I don’t think Yasuke was added for diversity. Asian people are also a minority and these types of people normally only need diversity when there are “too many” white people. In my opinion I believe they just thought he’d be a cool character to over exaggerate. Plus for the people who don’t like it, there is an Asian protagonist that represents assassins creed gameplay better who you could play instead. I don’t think people who disagree with yasuke being one of the two main characters are racist though, that’s just ignorant. Also, I don’t think one of the main characters race should keep you from playing the game. The gameplay and graphics look great and it’ll probably be the best game since unity. To me, what people should be talking about are the extremely high prices that were advertised instead.

Poorly researched and not understanding anything about Japan.. Owh my god dude, Ubisoft and the people working on this game should be fired.. How about you go back and start making Rayman games and Beyond Good And Evil, perhaps then you can rebuild credibility on your brand Ubisoft!.
The image of Yasuke based on primary sources in Japan is very different from the image of Yasuke in other countries, which is based on fiction or misunderstanding. This is unavoidable, as there are few people in the world who can understand Japanese, making it difficult to read primary sources directly. Yasuke, a historical figure commonly known in Japan, is not a "legendary samurai." In fact, it is unclear whether they could even be called samurai. When a Japanese person pointed out this mistake, for some reason there were objections from all over the world. Have you looked into the materials that exist in Japan? Can a game that conveys wrong information to the world really respect Japan? Google翻訳で失礼しました。
Is it possible to create a game with accurate historical research that uses a character from an incorrect history as the main character? As long as you play the game as Yasuke, the wrong history is always displayed on the screen. If he had at least appeared as an NPC, it wouldn't have been such a problem.
Ok but yasuke isn’t even a woke choice he already has an established presence in media so it’s just a smart marketing tactic in general, historically he was a Bushi, which hasn’t been viewed as distinct from samurai since the Meiji era (though in the Sengoku era there was a defined distinction that set them apart) this is specifically stated in the Maeda archives “the black man was taken into lord Nobunaga’s service, he was given a home, a short sword, and a stipend,” he’s confirmed to have participated in 3 skirmishes in 1582 at Tenmokuzan, Honouji, and Nijo, and an unnamed witness places him at Yamazaki manning a canon (which yeah if a dear friend of mine had been killed by a traitor who then proceeded to publicly embarass me and denounce my titles on the grounds of my race I’d want some pay back to) sooooo not woke, this one is actually rather intelligent and calculated, but I will say wait until it comes out to gauge the quality because this could go either way, it could be an absolute masterpiece or dog water SJW fan fiction, it’s all about the execution
I loved Samurai Champloo. The hip-hop in that show was great, and Najubes kinda changed a lot of how I view music. Ubisoft has not recreated anything like that here. They are a soulless cash-grabbing corporation, and everything they do lacks sincerity.
Tone deaf, just tone deaf, this shows that Ubisoft don't care about Asians or their culture, they are more focused on Yasuke being the greatest Samurai freeing the land of Japan from their Japanese tyrants. Am not gonna get the game, not even sure am gonna Haar matey the game, will give it a try and shit on it then maybe drop it.
The saddest part is that all the people blasting this will still give Ubisoft money. When will they learn: profits is the language used by corporations. Nothing else matters.
But but but... they hired a Japanese expert ( on man-boy love ) professor to consult on this! How could such a cultural slight like this happen? I mean I DO understand the dynamics of LGBT relationships between young boys and grown men in feudal Japan is obviously a very misunderstood thing and isn't ever given enough of the spotlight and therefore should be the games focus, but can't we also get the small things like an entire cultures religion right too? You know, if we have the time after patting ourselves on the back for how open-minded and diverse we all are?
Seems like the Japanese people don’t really give a crap about Yasuke being in the game. They seem to care more about proper kanji being used and their cultural landmarks and heritage being properly represented.
If you say the wrong thing about a building as being ``historically correct,'' you will be criticized. Japanese culture has a close relationship with religion. If you just reverse the left and right sides, the meaning may be completely reversed. And it's very unpleasant.
Was Yasuke an actual person existed? Yes. But As he only have the first name and no family name, he definitely was not a samurai. And with only one and half a year with Oda how can he be a top samurai from the very bottom of the society? No UBI staffs and their followers say he's a samurai by not understand what samurai is. Did you ses his katana going left to right of his waist and that truelly shows UBI doesn't care the cultural background. Samurai belts his katana on left side no matter which your dominant hand is, to avoid touching each others katanas while passing on narrow streets or roads. Torii gates are a gate to a shrine and even if it look like it just stand on the street there IS a shrine somewhere hundred meters away.

Since many people believe the false history spread abroad, the truth is that Yasuke was an entity that appeared in only a few lines in the history books of the time, and of course there is no mention in any history book of the time that he was a samurai. I had known of Yasuke's existence since I was a small child because I was a history buff, but I recognized him as a kind of servant of Nobunaga Oda, not a samurai.(Because when Yasuke appeared in the drama "Hideyoshi" that I saw a long time ago, he was standing all the time next to Nobunaga as he was eating, pouring wine for Nobunaga.) I don't know when he started being called a samurai, but I can say for sure that Thomas Locke Lee's book is mostly false except for the existence of Yasuke, there are no statues of Yasuke anywhere in Japan, only a few Japanese history buffs know about Yasuke, and he has done nothing to be loved. Other than Yasuke, there are no black samurai in Japanese history, so blacks will no longer be samurai in reality.(Because the class system of the samurai disappeared during the Meiji period.) So, unfortunately, I would like to ask all the black people to be patient and cosplay as a samurai, just like Yasuke in this game. Please do not make the mistake of saying that black samurai existed. P.S. You can call me a racist all you want, but everything I said is true. Excuse the long sentence.
These are the same people saying resident evil 5 is racist because you kill black zombies in africa but will defend a black character, who was never a samurai but a retainer for some months and then sent back, going around in samurai gear killing asians in Japan with hip hop music mixed within japanese music.

Since many people believe the false history spread abroad, the truth is that Yasuke was an entity that appeared in only a few lines in the history books of the time, and of course there is no mention in any history book of the time that he was a samurai.
I had known of Yasuke's existence since I was a small child because I was a history buff, but I recognized him as a kind of servant of Nobunaga Oda, not a samurai.(Because when Yasuke appeared in the drama "Hideyoshi" that I saw a long time ago, he was standing all the time next to Nobunaga as he was eating, pouring wine for Nobunaga.)
I don't know when he started being called a samurai, but I can say for sure that Thomas Locke Lee's book is mostly false except for the existence of Yasuke, there are no statues of Yasuke anywhere in Japan, only a few Japanese history buffs know about Yasuke, and he has done nothing to be loved.
Other than Yasuke, there are no black samurai in Japanese history, so blacks will no longer be samurai in reality.(Because the class system of the samurai disappeared during the Meiji period.)
So, unfortunately, I would like to ask all the black people to be patient and cosplay as a samurai, just like Yasuke in this game.
Please do not make the mistake of saying that black samurai existed.

People who try to defend that Yasuke was a samurai don’t actually care and neither should you. They consistently ignore the fact that the reverse game would not be allowed. If they truly stood by their arguments then they should be fine the reverse scenario.
And even if they say they are fine with the reverse scenario, they will stay silent on the fact that mainstream journalism would go insane and do everything in their power to tank it.

Feels like some of the devs are really not giving a shit and are doing this on purpose just to make the game fail. They’re tired of the bs coming from the higher ups and the diversity devs because no way they’re inventing Kanji characters or getting the basic symbol and structures wrong. Those devs are trying to send a message: DO NOT BUY OUR GAME
Aint no way they’d have a hip hop beat if the character wasn’t black lol. Their attempt to look inclusive makes them look even more racist lol. It’s all just so disingenuous
This is Ironic
When I see most Japanese Game Devs try to appropriating Western culture ,
It is more presented in classy , tasteful and creative not trashy , and even with more smart marketing strategy
And I will criticize Ubisoft as lazy and simply a joke if they try to create Assassin’s Creed sets in SEA country but the architecture design is Middle Eastern architecture
They forgot to show the gameplay where yasuke has oda Nobunaga’s shittake mushroom 🍄🟫 inserted into his colon whilst he clings to the tatami mat and gets ploughed harder than a Yamagata rice field
Yasuke couldnt have been a samurai. He had no ceremony to become one, he didnt live in japan long enough to even become one, and he never had a samurais death.
And even then, even seeing battle, that doesnt make someone a samurai.
Did Toyotomi have a ceremony to become a vassal under Oda?
Remember when they messed up the Cuban flag in “Spider-Man 2?” Same thing…
Yasuke was a retainer but never was a samurai and was a sword carrier for nobunaga oda but it stated that he and nobunaga died together but in fact only one member survived that accident and never mention yasuke at all of how is he a samurai
Toyotomi was also a retainer. What’s your point?
I don't know if was disrespect or blasphemy
Ubisoft went years downside with this DIE bullshit....they should stop this shit adding this shit in Games!
Its because this git damn Ubisoft kids made games!
There's a mistake on that site not all Torii gates are on or near shrines, most are but some are placed in areas that are believed to be sacred.
Sure…those sacred areas would be boulders, trees, and oceans (usually anything nature related → but some Kofun might be exceptions)
To my knowledge, Torii wouldn’t be used as a gate to a village
Another example of why one should wait at least a year after release to consider purchase.
Assassins creed used to take pride in being accurate about the places and eras the game was set in. Sad to see them fall in the DEI trap. Go woke go broke.
Tell them DON'T fuckin buy it, since when has Assassins Creed been following HISTORY.
Base game costs $70 I think and I have $1000 to spend. For some strange reason I can't afford it.🤔
We are seeing all of this outrage about the main character, everybody's missing the forest through the trees. This thing is going to be like every other fucking PC release from Ubisoft, You're going to buy it on pre-order and play it 3 days early but it won't be playable for about 2 months when danuvo gets cracked. Abandon AAA my dudes, life's better on the Indy side.
It's ubisoft game, I expect by the time it's even playable it'll be on sale for half. Within a year basically
Ghost of Tsushima got the history right In fact the Gov of Tsushima Island recommends the game ! When will people get it? In till Company's dont get up to a 75% cut ( how much of a cut they get from the current rate depends on how high of a ESG score you have ) on the money they borrow to make games ( they never use ther own money ) this will not change and there is 7 trillion dollars in the fund for this so dont hold your breath. Play Ghost of Tsushima it is a far better game than Ubisoft can ever make...btw I have every Assassin's Creed game made so you cant say I'm just a Sony fan boy... Peace
You make no sense.
We understand what they were trying to do? They were trying to compete against Ghost of Tsushima and lost badly.
GOT copied assassins first they just did it better
@@zaneomuoreh8425 you've got to be joking if you think that, just look at the UI for AC shadows it's a 1 to 1 copy of GOT's UI they even have the 'resolve' bars as well lmfao 🤣
@@chrispalmer6804 no most of GOT stealth mechanics are from AC. So my point still stands. This game has a similar UI but is that even a complaint? GOT was great and had a good UI what’s the problem?
@@zaneomuoreh8425 if you wanna go that route then AC copied the stealth mechanics from older stealth games, i feel like the real reason ubislop held off making a AC set in japan until now is coz they were waiting for someone else to make something similar then copy from them which they 100% did imo but the only problem is that they're flat out shitting on the japanese culture as where sucker punch did their research and respected the japanese culture, and that is why their devs were made ambassadors of the island of Tsushima
@@chrispalmer6804 hahahah what nonsense.
