Fun Fact: Miyako just got a PRS. A Custom 24 with a Floyd. Red flame maple book-matched top. I think it's the same one Kanami plays. She is going to debut it at the upcoming Tokyo Garden Theater show. ( They are currently rehearsing for that show. )

I've been saying since I started getting into lovebites a few months ago that when people ask the question we've all heard or maybe asked ourselves "if you take all the best musicians out then together in a room what's that sound like" the answer is lovebites 🤟

This was my introduction to Lovebites and it's been an amazing journey ever since. So professional, so precise, so perfect and so happy too - which is a big difference between this 21st century all female Metal scene and my experiences of bands through the 70's and 80's. 🤘🤘 THE best Metal band on Earth.
As a die-hard Iron Maiden fan, I was hinted to "Break through the wall", "Holy War" and "Shadowmaker". The first two impressed me, but "Shadowmaker" touched my soul. And after "Bravehearted", I was their fan.
Iron Maiden and LOVEBITES get along very well with each other.

@@tonygriffin_ I think they do. Miho personally met Steve Harris and guys from Helloween, and our Metal heroes (and heroines) know each other and "the scene" anyway. Metallica talked in a documentary about meeting Maiden, and Iron Maiden talked in a documentary about meeting other amazing Metal bands at Rock in Rio. All of them are aware of each other and "observe" each other. I think, that the big "western" bands are relieved that excellent Metal continues - not only in the next generation, but especially in Japan. And the fact that the "manly" western Metal business is being passed on to all- _female_ Japanese Metal bands who are even better technically, surely is a big surprise to the "matured white gentlemen". 😁

@@tonygriffin_ Oh yes, I agree. I mean, Lovebites + Nemophila + Hanabie learned from western Metal heroes, and set the bar _even higher_ . Western Metal is _timeless_ , full of masterpieces, and deserves honour, but _Japanese_ Metal just adds a further dimension.
The "Metal Hammer" put *Hanabie* on an issue cover, writing "The future of Metal", honoring Hanabie immensely. And bands like Lovebites, Nemophila and Band-Maid are _even better_ known.
To me, it is therefore doubtless, that Japan holds the future of Metal, and all-female bands are currently ahead of the block.

Miyako usually plays the Les Paul for a couple of songs each concert. She actually has several Gibson guitars that she plays. She is a big fan of the late Gary Moore, and she definitely channeled his style in this song.
You can definitely hear Gary Moore's inspiration in some of Miyako's guitar solos.

I believe, miyako plays the les paul, the dean icon ( her main guitar, she changed the electronic of the guitar und put fishman PUs and new capacitators in it), a dean flying V signature, a self build telecaster, an infinity strat, a gibson futura and lately a gibson korina flying V and as mantis already wrote a new PRS with FR. she is not only an excellent player (piano and guitar) and composer, but also a real guitar nerd.

Another good reaction! This is one of the best performances I have ever seen by this band. That Les Paul sounds as good as a guitar can get, and I like the comment about the clean sound that M & M use, too many modern metal bands can hide mistakes in too much distortion, these ladies are precision, a well oiled machine that is the best sounding, top shelf metal act. 🤘🐺🤘

They certainly cranked up the amps to break the wall with that one ! Miyako spent nearly 5 figures to purchase a Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1958 Korina Flying V Reissue. She also bought a PRS recently but I don't think she played it on stage yet (someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

Miyako had Hugh collection of Guitare. A lots of Dean ( she's ambassador for that brand), her principal guitare is a Dean Guitars Icon Faded Denim( she take it in last Europeen & uk tour), she had a her own model: Miyako spécial Flying V red , différents Gibson, few fender and a PSR 24 like Kanami. 2 Big Piano ( 1 white Roland & black Yamaha) 3 or 4 Keyboards , a white Keytard, some fender bass, 1 Electronic Drums, 1 Celo as well. She use Peavy Amps and Orange Stack with a custom pedal board ( 5000 $ of materials on the board). Midori is a Esp artist and use kemper Amps and pedalboard with Marshall stacks. Midori had 3 ESP II HORIZON , black, white, a purple. She had a ESP custom made ( she carved it) like a ESP Arrow ( she used in the MV of Winds of translivania)
I also use a Kemper Profiler.. i love that thing!!
@ianBreton35 , I never have seen Miyako playing a Paul reed shit Guitar , I know she has Fender style guitars , Gibsons and Dean Guitars even a self build telecaster style Guitar she uses on this Show, and it seems she has a diezel amp on stage besides her Peavey amp , I have not seen a PRS in her Arsenal.

I never really got into a lot of bands because of the distortion and gain used in their songs!!!!! This is the first Metal band that I've become enamored with and can hear each note being played by them!!!!! Also, Haruna is just a little beast on that kit!!!!! Love Asami's vocals, at times they just touch your soul!!!!! Thank you for what you do!!!!!!

Love this song! One of my favorites. I love when they lean hard into thrash. They're so good at it. The solo contrast in this song is great, from Midori's out of control frenzy to Miyako's soulful melodic solo. Really interesting comments about the Les Paul, by the way. I recommend Thunder Vengeance, the opening song from this show. It's another of my favorites, and was the song that caused me to fall in love with the band. Thanks for the reaction. The song 'Break the Wall' (lyrics - Miho / music - Miho, Miyako) from the EP 'Battle Against Damnation' (June 6, 2018). Five days after the release of the EP 'Battle Against Damnation', LOVEBITES received the GOLDEN GODS Metal Hammer award in London (UK). LOVEBITES were named 'Best New Band'.
This concert took place on February 21, 2020. The Blu-ray of the concert was released under the name 'Five of a Kind - Live in Tokyo 2020' and reached #1 on the Japanese Oricon Chart.
I suggest you check out another thrash song that opened this concert. The song is called 'Thunder Vengeance' (lyrics - Miho / music - Miho, Mao). Miho composed 'Thunder Vengeance' after seeing SLAYER perform at 'Download Festival - 2019' (March, Japan).

Obviously, these ladies are master musicians with stellar vocals. But all the talent in the world does not mean a thing if you cannot write great songs. Lovebites are also master songwriters. As you dive deeper into the rabbit hole, you will find they play different styles of metal and make it their own. Their lyrics are also fantastic. I have been listening to them for about 4 years now and I still cannot get enough of them. Please give Dancing With The Devil a spin. It's a very catchy tune that really shows off some of Asami's R&B vocals.
I loved what you said about how top musicians can elevate the people around them. I think that’s true in many different aspects of life. The only caveat I can add to that is they need to be the type of person that wants to elevate the people around them rather than be a negative influence. I’ve witnessed both types in my career. Fortunately there were more of the positive musicians.

My favourite Lovebites song, and it is tough to pick a favourite! But this song really demonstrates the reason why I miss Miho so much, not that Fami isn’t great because she is, but Miho wrote and co-wrote the best songs, her songs are heavy and I love them!!!

@@ChadTheDragonLord Hiring Miho as a song writer doesn’t make any sense, as Mao and Miyako don’t require Miho to write their songs, while Miho did require them to write songs. So what Miho actually provided, was more of a thrash influence. Do fans want more thrash? I think if the Wolfpack was more vocal about the stuff they wanted, rather than vocal about every song being perfect (or saying everything is a masterpiece), then Lovebites would be able to adjust to accommodate their interests, otherwise everything is believed to be perfect.
To be more fair to people here, maybe Miho was required to push the band in a thrash direction, and that regardless of fans being vocal about their preferences (like for thrash), that it still might not happen as much without Miho’s influence/push. From the first two songs we heard from the upcoming EP, it doesn’t seem like Fami will have that much of influence on Lovebites (compared to Miho), although Fami is said to be involved somewhat in the song: “Someone’s Dream”, so I guess we will see what that’s like.
@SomethingToDo360 What Miho provided was a contrast in songwriting and lyrical content. Asami's style as we know is very uplifting and empowering, Miho's was much darker and dare I say "More Metal". These differences in style created a diversity in the band's music, Asami-Power Metal, Miho-Thrash.
@@guitarzen5999 Asami’s style seems dictated by her vocals being perceived as more suited to power metal. I say this because my criticism of her vocals ended up mainly being for thrash songs (like Break the Wall and Thunder Vengeance), while the writers are probably looking to display Asami in her best light possible (to play to her particular vocal strength; power metal), explaining perhaps her need to make a vocal adjustment for Dissonance, another thrash song. Which would make all of this less about Miho. Just something to consider.
Edit: Just to be clear, I don’t really know. I’m just putting possibilities out there. Although I don’t care as much about the vocals, the band probably does.

Miyako is a big Gary Moore fan and you can hear his influence, or tribute to Gary, in her solo. As I'm sure you know by now, she was self taught, and part of her practice routine was learming songs by ear. Some of her favorites to transcribe were music by Dimebag, Kirk Hammet, Paul Gilbert and Gary Moore. This mix of influences is what makes her style so unique imo. She doesn't approach the guitar as something limited to one certain genres. She just writes what sounds good to her ear. It really shows in some of her pre-Lovebites music that almost borderlines Industrial, pop and metal. Her songwriting approaches Prince genius level imo. Btw Miyako doesnt play PRS, she has a Dean Custom Icon in denim that's PRS body style. She's a Desn endorsed artist, even though she plays other brands, and also has a red Dean USA Custom V, a Dean USA Custom Switchblade (Dimebag style) and a Custom 8 string which she used in her previous band Drop Of Joker.

Enjoyed the reaction. Miyako has quite a collection of Gibsons. She owns more Gibsons than Deans. I agree. I play in a classic rock cover band. For the '70's era hard rock, I'll use a Les Paul or a Strat. For the '80s metal I'll switch over to an Ibanez or my ESP E-II Horizon (I have the same model as Midori's blue one).
The one thing I don't understand is, if Miyako is under contract with Dean, why would they not have a problem with her playing Gibson's, especially when Gibson tried to put them out of business. Must be a Japan thing I guess.
That's a good question. I'm wondering if her contract with Dean expired and she decided not to renew. She recently bought a PRS.
@@snakewhisperer1 That could be it. A lot of people from their roster left after the lawsuit, including Michael Schenker, who went back to Gibson. When Lovebites went on the European tour, Miyako only took her Dean Icon and one of her Les Paul's, so she must be comfortable shredding with it.

Yes Miyako still brings out her Les Paul on occasion. In fact I have never seen anybody play so many different guitars in the space of a single concert. I've counted seven guitars in one concert not to mention piano, keyboards and even, on one memorable occasion, a keytar! Miyako is a confirmed guitar geek. Among her collection she has at least two flying Vs; her own signature Dean flying V and a Gibson Korina flying V which I think she's only played once live. Still waiting for you to find the ultimate shred fest "Scream for Me" with a total of 14 guitar solos in it!

I guess this is the song that cemented the early fame of Midori being the shredding demon, and Miyako the melodic monster. :)) Surely after this they have swapped the roles time and time again. M&M have no challengers except each other. That candy company should jump at the opportunity to make a worldwide commercial with them already! ;D
2:50 Yeah, it 's Miho (spoken: "Me hoe"), the first bass player and founding member of LOVEBITES (apart from continual drummer Haruna). Miho still gets honour by The Wolfpack for founding LOVEBITES and leading it to global attention (Wacken Open Air gig!), and she is still honoured today. Miho contributes many (or all) of the Mard/Thrash Metal songs on the first LOVEBITES albums, whereas Miyako writes the rather classically influenced songs.
Speaking about songwriting: The only (but amazing!) contribution of _Haruna_ is "Bravehearted". A very intense and highly motivational song.
Miyako plays this sometimes but lately she's bought another Gibson. It's on her UA-cam channel, expensive and rare but very cool. She uses it on stage in the live version of Stand and Deliver.
I couldn't agree with you more. Other reactors have commented that it's unfair that one band has two such amazing guitarists, but you're right, the rest of the band is as elite as M&M. AT @4:00 I am a huge fan of Lovebites, really, I listen to them almost every day, I regularly watch a playlist of videos from their UA-cam channel to increase their number of views (there are times when I think I am schizophrenic and my other double is a fan of Kpop Black Pink !! 😁). I am the first to rage because I think they really deserve better international recognition. I use "Thunder Vengeance" as my alarm clock in the morning. I am subscribed to all their social networks.
But on the other hand, to say that for Led Zeppelin there are "only two" !!! HOWWWW HOWWW HOWWWWW
If there is a band for which we can say that all the members are geniuses and have formed a perfect band it is Led Zeppelin, and besides that does not prevent me from agreeing with you concerning Lovebites they are all geniuses too.

Awesome song, I love the riffs and those solos are unbelievable. In the upcoming Blu-ray, I believe she plays the Les Paul in two songs, Stand & Deliver (shoot 'em down) and MDO. The previous 2 shows, The Les Paul only came out for Stand & Deliver. In 2021 "Heavy Metal Never Dies", there was no Les Paul played, but there was a song where Miyako doesn't play the guitar at all, Spellbound.

Your comment about them bringing up any good band by inserting just one member from Lovebites got me thinking. Current day American bands? There aren't many that could handle a member of Lovebites in it. They would so seriously outshine the other members, it'd cause a huge imbalance in the sound. And it'd go the other way if you tried to switch in someone who couldn't keep up with them, into Lovebites. The rest of the band would so far outclass that poor soul, it'd mess up the song.

I'm glad they recommend this version for you. On the previous Blu-ray, "Daughter of the Dawn," Miyako uses her Dean Switchblade and the Floyd Rose is fighting her during the bends. It ruins the song and you can see that she's not having a good time. I don't think it's a coincidence that she's playing a Les Paul for the song here.

I´ve seen, you haven´t reactet to it yet, so here´s my recommendation: the first live song after their almost three year hiatus, first one live with fami and first song for fami in front of a bigger audience: the hammer of wrath live 2023 from their official channel. a fantastic banger and face melter.
it makes you sorry for whatever band has to follow them at the progpower metal festival in atlanta in sept. hopefully they would be the last band that day. this is one reason that just about all of their shows are exclusively LOVEBITES. if i was in a band and they told us that we would be after them ? i'd just drop out !

You mentioned two key words here... Slayer and Heavy... This is not the heaviest song on Lovebites, nor is Set the World on Fire. The heaviest, and by a lot, is Dissonance, which is like a tribute to Slayer's heavier sound. Unfortunately there is no decent video online yet, but you can at least react to the audio on the band's official channel...
