@@AntonNilsson-p1l Absolutely. It may have some minor issues, like some plastic parts breaking because of age, but the engine will keep running forever.
eveytime i see this car i cant help but start crying. all the childhood memories come in, i used to live in portugal on a island called madeira, and we had this car there, everytime i see it i get flooded with memories and this car is one of them, i get very sad because im probably never gonna able to see it again since i moved to brazil.. this video hits specially hard because the driving scenery and the music reminds me of portugal aswell..
I bought the estate version of this corolla as my first car. I commute with it and made some roadtrips. It is reliable and practical. The best thing is its confort and quality, you can really tell it's a well made car when you drive it.
I have a '99 corolla she's a beater but I wouldn't have any other car other than another Toyota . You can beat the hell out of then they keep going as long as you maintain them . I loaned mine to someone who took it out of state drove it back no clutch no oil and 5 yrs later my car is running great !
Lovely, I now have a blue 1999 Corolla 1.6 Auto Liftback, only 112,000 miles, almost new timing belt, and I love it. Very reliable, fast and economical enough, lovely sporty lines and the front smiles. At a distance slightly reminiscent of a Subaru Impreza. The quintessential Toyota Corolla, and one with personality.
I have a 99 corolla with 221,990 millage. Still my daily car as of now 2021. Very low maintenance. Fuel efficient of 14kms per liter. Old but modified. Still runs like new
Bought mine at the beginning of 2020. First hand owner sold it due to retirement of driving. It's a 1999 and when I got it it was about just a little over 100000km. All serviced at Toyota. No rust no nothing. Just put new brakes, new timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, break fluid and an oil change. It's running like a champ. For sure I gonna keep it until the wheels fall off. It's "pure" driving and a very reliable car. Even economical: I get 5.3 l/100 km. Even with highway speed up to 150km I never get over 7.6 l/100 km. It's pretty good for a 21 year old car.
Hi, we received our Corolla station wagon (1999 model) as a gift 6 years ago. It was an elderly pensioner whose husband had died a few years earlier. The Corolla had 60,000 km on the clock. Since then, 3x general inspections without any defects. At the beginning of this year we spent 1000 euros on a major inspection. Since then, average consumption has been 6.5 liters/100km. Great car! It is an incredibly reliable car and now has 90,000 km on the clock. We live in Germany.
I own a 2001 Chevrolet Prizm sedan (read "saloon") which is basically a Corolla with some styling tweaks in addition to the rebadging. But I sort of like the front end styling of this version better, and am a little jealous. Since I bought it in 2003 I've driven over 100,000 miles in it and it's done everything I've asked of it. If I can get another 11 years of driving it I'll be very happy.
This car saved my life on an accident, really sturdy chasis, I had a frontal crash with another vehicle at 70km/h and walked away from it, just bought another one, GREAT car.
I got a clean black G6 compact facelift with the 110hp vvti engine for 2500€ last year (140.000Km) it's extremely reliable and a blast to drive. It peaked at (a very scary) 215 kph when I drove it home from bavaria to Hamburg. The car felt like it was going to lift off at around 180 kph. Have since then replaced the stock R14/175 wheels with R15/195 on Oz Superturismo and It feels way more stable at high speeds and in corners now. Also, With the bigger tires the car peaks at around 205 kph now which is fine ;). Also got an Ulter sports exhaust because the car was way too quiet. There are 1-2 decent G6's per year on german craigslist (ebay-kleinanzeigen) but they are still around in europe and for some reason you can get them on the cheap (even G6R's are still not that expensive at around 4000€ if you can find one) fuel economy is great, around 7 L/100 km combined. Also the sporty interior of the G6 and the super tight 6 speed manual are just lovely.
I'm thinking about getting one as my first car. How has it been working for you? If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for it, and in what condition?
Kaip šaunu! aš šiandien nuspirkau corolla, šiaip nepatinka labai super duper, bo aš prie hyundai getz (2007, 1.4 dyzelis) pratęs tai kai įsėdau tai... liūdesiukas realiai :D
IN NIGERIA THIS COROLLA IS NICKNAMED FISH EYE. It is absolutely reliable and fun to drive. It is also used for commercial purposes becoming It is economical. Much much more reliable than the American model
i bought one last year, i really enjoy it with friends and it is just different from any car on the road these days, thats why i like it. mine has 190,000km and runs like new
I have 2, both wagons. Very good, economical and especially reliable vehicles even at 20+ years of age now. Though most people dont really raise an eyebrow for a corolla. Not until theres a winter storm and my other one is a rare 4wd :D Just beats the shit out of most other cars, even "awd" when their traction controls kicks in after the smallest wheelspin. They move nowhere while i take off with a short slide and disappear very quickly while their engine power is reduced to 3hp to prevent wheel slip.
Never liked the bug eye looks of this Corolla. At least things improved with the face-lift model. But the bullet proof powertrains were what you expected of Toyota.
i dont know what are you talking about. I got this car and it handles like a gocart. The 1.6l with 110hp is way more than enough for small car like this. I have much more fun with it than i used to with BMW 530xd i was driving for 6 years.
Bought this car new in 1999, still driving it today.
Same here.
yoooo how many miles ?!!!
They’re excellent vehicles!

Any thoughts on the 2000 Toyota Corrola 1.6GS Ceres automatic please? UK? Thinking buying one. Is it any good?
My options are this model, the Starlet and the Honda Civic
Civic for fun, Corolla for marriage.

What are the service intervals?
500,000 miles
Normal schedule is 15.000km or 1 year. Severe schedule would be 10.000km or 6 months. The latter isn't mentioned in the manual.
