    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  6 років тому +1

      If there is glue covering the terminals on your old batteries that means that they are soldered underneath. You would either need to re-solder the wires to the new battery set or cut the wires at the solder point and attach a crimp on style terminal connector to the end of each wire. This would allow you to attached and remove the wires as you need them without any soldering.

      Are you concerned about the battery charge level when the scooter is in storage for a period of time? If so then I would recommend either a digital or manual timer. They are pretty inexpensive and you can set it to turn on once a month for a few hours throughout your storage period.

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  8 років тому

      Yes, if you could find room for the extra batteries you could increase the ride time on the scooter. If your looking to go through the trouble of wiring up a parallel setup of batteries you should take a look at increasing the capacity of the original two batteries in the scooter. For example, the originals are 12V 7AH - you could take a look at a 12V 9AH upgrade option which would be the same foot print as the original batteries.

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  6 років тому

      I'm gonna assume this indicates an issue. There should not be any loose or disconnected wires. If you have some then you need to open up the battery compartment and see whats going on. After you remove the battery cover you should have access to the charge port for the scooter as well so you can check those connections.

      The process of removing the wiring harness and using/connecting the spade terminals is the same, however you need to either take a picture or make a wiring diagram of your current battery pack. Its very important that you wire the new batteries up the same exact was as the original set!

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  3 роки тому +1

      I'm assuming that the wires have already been removed from the old set so you don't have a template to work off of. If thats the case then there should be a bar code on the scooter - if you can find that bar code we can attempt to find the correct version of the scooter and the corresponding wiring diagram. Its not a guarantee, but its worth a shot. There are a few ways that they can be wired up and I don't want to give you bad advice here.

      Razor has a few different models of scooters out on the market each with a slight variation of wiring so yours could very well look different than the one shown in the video! Your best bet would be to take a picture of your old batteries already wired up with your phone to use as a reference.

    You could have used a weller gun to heat the terminals and just pull them of and on to the other batteries. Note if the float voltage is 13. 4 to 13.8 volts on the charger the batteries can remain connected indefinitely just like the emergency light AGM batteries and UPS units do as long as the smart charger is operating correctly. ----- FAQ | What are the 3 Stages of Smart Chargers? - BatteryStuff.com
    www.batterystuff.com/blog/3-stages-of-smart-chargers.html
    Jun 13, 2012 - Most smart chargers do not turn off at this point, yet it is completely safe to leave a battery in float mode for months to even years at a time. ... You don't ever have to worry about leaving the charger on the battery for too long. In fact, it's best if you DO leave it on.

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  9 років тому +1

      +JAY AREA
      I would recommend sticking with a SLA style battery. The problem with using motorcycle batteries is that the lead plates in the batteries are very thin by design in order to produce a high CCA rating - thin lead plates are terrible for deep cycle use which a Razor scooter would need. You would end up killing the motorcycle batteries very quickly compared to AGM batteries.

      A couple of months ago, I bought a Razor Ecosmart Metro. It came with minimalist 7 amp. batts. I just switched them for 3 15 amp. AGMs. ( The largest ones that will fit ). Leaving out the original top battery retainer and setting them crossways in the battery box on top of a sheet of closed cell polypropylene foam, they fit snuggly, are cushioned from the plastic battery retaining ridges in the bottom and a thin strip of that kind of foam over the top of them they are in there solid. I run errands on it up to a 11 mile round trip now and the batts. are still a go and these batts. don't have to work so hard. Before, a 7 mile round trip exhausted the 7 amp. ones going less than full speed which I practically never do.

      @@eduardomontes6463 I broke out the lower ridges so the batts can sit on the bottom and the foam under the batts OR a piece of a blanket is good. Don't buy cheap batts or you'll be disappointed on their life span. I was commuting to work on the bike 50 or more miles a week. Cheap batts lasted about 4 months, but Hitatchi's CSB batts or UB (Universal Battery ) About 10 months. It now has 4,000 miles on it in 3 1/3 years and had to change the motor at 2,000 miles as it started stuttering. 2nd. motor still going. I use a good grease on the chain rather than oil and keep the chain cover on as it keeps sand off of the chain and sprockets. I wash the chain in paint thinner and re-grease. Thousands of miles wears chain, sprockets and spokes. Not commuting on anymore. I keep it inside out of weather and always keep it on the smart charger made for it. Some people convert them to lithium batts, not the crap ones that look like the lead batts but the 18650 cell packs that a custom lithium bike battery maker makes. You MUST used a lithium charger if you do that. These packs can be made to fit the size and shape needed to fit into the box on the EcoSmart. NOT cheap to do, but they will last for years.
