One of the cleanest examples of a z31 300zx I’ve seen. It’s kinda the forgotten Z. The Z32 kinda over shadows it but the z31 is still a great platform and definitely has ultra 80’s vibes if that’s what you’re looking for.

Great vid! I have a 1988 Z31 Shiro, pretty much original. Even with the turbo, it is an anemic 205 HP. But God I love driving it!

My dad had a 1988 Z31, Aztec Red all original...
We were the original owners 1988-2022 of the Z, damn I miss that car.
It was my first time in one. It was fun, and definitely a clean example of one ! (minus the exhaust leak which we laughed about the whole time, he’s fixing that) z32 is still my favorite but that’s what I grew up with. That’s cool that y’all had it that long and were the original owners.

I have an 85' Turbo myself and how he describes the performance is exactly identical to mine.
Looks like you have a front-mounted intercooler and the previous owner raised the boost from stock 5psi to 13psi.
Was a night and day difference when I turned up the boost and it was surprisingly fast! Smoked my G35 from there on out. Great video

The 300ZX turbo (83-89) had the best digital dash of the time. If I could, I would buy a 1986 300ZX turbo.

The 1983 model year was the last 280zx. I liked the digi dashes in my '83 Turbo and my current '88 Z31, which is still working like new.

Same thing happened to me Z31 and it took out one of my T-tops as well back in the day.

@@shaneomatic9188 It did but I was able to resolve it by going to a salvage yard and trading my one good T-top for two good T-tops and some cash.
Speaking of the 80's style, the Stereo and climate controls scream Sansui.
That’s my favorite part of it. The cluster, stereo, dash etc.
I want a Z31 so bad. There’s one for sale. 1984 Turbo. 70k miles full CARFAX and stuff. But for 20 k nah 😭

@@shaneomatic9188 I'm the odd man out, but the Z32 was my least favorite of any of the pre 350z era Z's. I've got Z car in my DNA having owned 4 so far, but and that bar of soap design just never grabbed me.
@@TheSaturnV lol that’s cool man. Difference of opinions. Z32 is my favorite then the z31 is next in line for me. I’m not big on the 350, 370, or new Z.

He says he paid $5500 and it had 125k miles on it. Was originally auto he swapped it to a manual. Hope that helps you.

Question do your back lights stay on? Cause I have an 86 and only the break lights work and I've been pulled over because "they can't see me" even though my plate lights do stay on
His didn’t have that issue when I rode in it. Old car problems. lol
Are your front parking lights coming on? That "combo" light switch on your steering column is notorious for going bad and causing havoc with all the lighting functions.

It was quicker than I thought it would be lol the engine he’s not too sure about. He bought it like that recently before we recorded it.
