you can adjust your turbo gauge to rest at zero you take out the boost meter and there is a fuse with a wire it has small screw in it you can turn it the make adjutment
@@meowut69 I want another one. a Clean AE or one just like yours. A mk3 Supra project fell in my lap but my heart is still with the Z31. I've heard it once said that once you get inside the Z the Z gets inside you. For me it's definitely true.
Right on man I be checking back with you to see the results oh just take your time dude and pace your check been having my Z for 15 years now and have been working on off and on I do believe your is turbo, mind isn't I have redone my suspension with coil over(powerTrix) and bushing rear and front. At the end of the day it's all about $$$ and knowledge. My exhaust from TheZstore.
Idk, toss up on popularity. I remember the Z31's being a lot more popular when I was into 280zx's. Most of the mods the S130 folks were doing were taking parts from Z31's and S13's, which led me to ask a lot of them why they didn't just get a Z31 instead since most of the "mods" were factory and both chassis were basically dime a dozen back then. Now I have a kouki Z31t, mostly because it was free and I didn't want to pay 10k for a POS 280zx when I used to pick them up for 500-700 at most but I'm actually kind've excited to have the thing. My last car was an 85 200sx turbo that I sold for nearly nothing and since then car prices have exploded for whatever reason...insta-clout I'm assuming. I knew it would happen, but I never thought I'd live to see the day when 80's j-spec cars were selling for twice or more than they cost new lol
The 87 was the best year, the T25 Turbo was dum on Nissan part for the 88 & 89. I would upgrade the turbo dual ball bearing if your doing mods. Beautiful car nonetheless
Nissan switched to the T25 because the public complained about the turbo lag. In late '87 Nissan upgraded their VG30ET to the W series, which has 8.3:1 compression ratio, T25 turbo and smaller camshaft profile than any other VG30E, reworked injectors for smoother idle operation.
Hey man! You should take this autocrossing with Fox Valley Sports Car Club. You’d be the 3rd z31 with myself and my buddy Kyle. We could always use more representation.
The Apex Engineering rear subframe assembly is really cool and esthetically looks good, but it doesnt solve the issue of semi trailing arm issue and changing camber. Especially that becomes excerbated by lowering the chassis and driving conditions. The S13 swap gives S13 like handling and chassis rotation without the feeling like the back end is coming loose any second.. but i guess it all depends what you are after...cruise, drag, drift, RR.
Nic said you can find any parts you need online at a few different places, I don’t know any specific site though. Facebook groups are probably a great resource. And as for working on it pretty much any independent shop will work on it provided they can source the parts or if you can provide them with the parts they need.
I've only watched some 300ZX walk threw vids....just wondering any owner knows that the car has a security alarm system....Or it's not that big of a dill...ya.!! Had a 89, 4 seat wish I still had it...😭
Its not 4psi its 7 but the boost gadge uses a diffrent mesurement than psi that makes it look like its only 4psi Also ur lucky ur oil presure gadge works lol there so shit
Its 4.5 psi. The guage reads in millimeters of mercury. Early Z31 turbos boost 6.7 psi with the T3 and 7.8:1 compression ratio; Late Z31 turbo (like his) boost 4.5 psi with the T25 and 8.3:1 compression ratio W series.
Digital dash squad!!

Thank you for the tip ill let Nic know!
Great vid guys, really appreciate what your doing with the Z. Enjoyed your commentary
Gauge is fine. It reads in millimeters of mercury unit. Not PSI. The T25 is set at 4.5 psi. The early T3 is set at 6.7 psi.
Happy I found you bro! I’m actually a Z32 and a Shiro owner out here in seattle! Crazy to see that your came from here.
Definitely taking this route with my 88. Can’t wait to see it installed.
It will go in as soon as the temp drops!
Damn I miss my 88 turbo so much. One day, one day I'll get another! You have an incredible car.
Crazy clean z. You got the best trans too lucky guy
Car looks really good bro 🔥
Its a great handling car and is plenty fast... In 1988.

Had one similar back in the day. Not turbo but I miss the digital dash.
Just subbed up. I have the 88 Z31 2x2 same color excited about watching the install.
Thank you! We’re going to start first thing this winter
I don’t know how much you paid but that car looks worth it. 30A + CLSD, black interior and good looking paint. Very nice car
Thank you!

I will when it’s finished for sure
@@meowut69 sweet man, hope to see you soon!
love my 87 but the ac stopped working after I swapped in a 3.3 from a pathfinder :/ This will be sick to see on the car!
As a 280zx owner im interested to see your thoughts on the rear subframe from Apex when yall install it
We will definitely have some in depth videos on the install and initial thoughts

Question.. I have a 1987 300Z... where are you finding parts and who works on these cars...

Techno toy tuning, Apex engineered, the z store, are a few stores that sell parts for Zs
You can get some parts for thezstore
@@1987whitez I think it's best to do an engine swap... the Z store is limited part supply
Like anything it all boils down to how deep your pockets @@lionellynch6775
Subscribed laughing great dynamic here
Does the owner of this car have a channel also ure beez cars a unicorn
Thank you! And I think he has a channel but doesn’t upload anything, if he starts I’ll be sure to plug it here on this channel.
I had to laugh, you guys complaining about parts availability. We had to make a lot of the suspension mods ourselves when I owned a Z31 20 years ago.
Enjoy the car while you can mine had transmission problems and it’s just sitting outside wanting to move
have you found any turbo kits that don't require A/C delete?
Yes!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

You can do the intercooler without deleting the AC
They changed the Turbo to a ceramic impeller which is lighter and spolled up much quicker.
immediate follow
Thank you! More content on the Z to come
I owned a 1986 turbo....had to sell to buy a house. I still have my s30 1jz swap..
Damn i love theese so hard
4 psi? No way that’s correct lol. Also you can run 15 psi with no intercooler just fine
these things run 3-4 psi stock lol, all u need is a boost controller though
The 84-87 Z’s use a T3 turbo whereas the 87-89 use a T25 turbo. T25 allegedly makes 4.5 PSI, much less than the T3
@@datzkarthat is correct .
T25 is set at 4.5 psi. T3 is set 6.7 psi. The gauge reads in Millimeters of Mercury.

The wind noise is driving me nuts.
You’ll get that on those big jobs
