@@AlphaBetaGamer We're still in quite an early phase, but things should be much faster with our experience from Chrysalis, this took 2 years but much of that time was knocking everything down and rebuilding. We have more of a kind of an idea of how to progress with Lake Haven, we will also have many more people helping out too. Been watching your videos for years, really surreal to see our game here.
hey this looks really good. usually i cant get into revival style horror but this one feels right to me. being able to go up to different things around the room and have the player acknowledge them is great and the camera work is done really well. I like the atmosphere and the way the story unfolds. seriously, very cool!
I nearly cried when my partner showed me the work he did on the silent hill area, we really wanted to give love to the games that touched our lives so much.

I really liked the small touches they gave to the protagonist to make a non-voiced character so likeable. From the dry humour to what he did with that fallen enemy, it really fleshed him out. Would be great to see whether this will lead to a larger game or not. Certainly gives that impression.

The easter egg of PT and SH2 was incredible. I saw on the steam page this is a prologue to a much bigger game and I'm honestly looking forward to it, thanks for bringing this game to my attention!

Twin peaks don't get enough praise. .. but really who wants ticktocks abt it XD Hell in 24:30 thr music is similar to the opening in 1991 Holy shiiiiiiii 57:00 is straight out of the red room red drapes ,statues ,black and white glossy ground , music too , fire walk with me vibes , the jazz credit score too ....
I got a strong "things are just happening" vibe from this game. I think there are still a few pieces missing that make the overall setting more believable and cohesive, and not just a "oh look, it's a SH reference" moment. Because this surely has potential.
Oh I love that sound when the controller picks something in the beginning brings back so many memories of me in my parents basement playing my ps2 with silent hill code veronica and resident evil if only I didn't give that system away and games they were worth so much back than. I owned Rule of Rose, even Haunting Grounds, Fatal Frame 1 and 2 and I just gave it all away for peanuts, "bangs head against wall and cries."

What i like about this ps1 horror style game is like you're watching through the memories or remembering your dream last night of this particular person who is involved on that game the character himself. Seeing it as not so detailed is like a vivid vision a dream like world.

I love the Homage to PS1 horror. This game and Alisa have both really captured the feel of it hitting us in the nostalgia with its wonderful writings and beautiful polygons. I fir one would love to see the final product of this and also see what it looks like in Unreal Engine 5 as well.
How do you think a graphically improved UE5 would benefit this intentionally limited style? Would that not defeat the entire point or am I missing something?

wow, the cinematography in this game is simply ASTOUNDING ! the details of the camera movements, the ambiance ... everything is there. I am impressed !!
Because the SH series is pretty much the only good survival/psychological horror game to be released in the past 3 decades, lmao. Not that these indie releases do a great job at replicating it (not even close). Most modern horror games are just walking simulators or action games with very mild horror elements.
@@adamusprime403 Those are not true survival horror. They are action horror. Survival horror is the original resident evil and silent hill series. The camera angles, the atmosphere, exploration is all meant to add to the ambiance and immerse you into the world. Its less about shooting things up and more about a psychological experience.

Absolutely amazing stuff, it captures quite a bit of the PS1/PSX style but does it's own things here and there to make itself stand out. Absolutely loved that Silent Hill Love Letter Easter Egg, the switch from PT to SH2 was really refreshing and a lovely little walk down memory lane.
Wow this game was amazing. The attention to details, designs of surroundings ( I really liked the outside area with the moon in the sky, so beautiful), the silent hill and twin peaks easter eggs. Really outstanding! 👏👏
This is a beauty. truly eerie. especially the way the distorted perspective makes a fairly simple enemy freaking terrifying. Truly resourceful, and clever, how economical you all were with limited resources.

1:07 I love the intro music. It's like the tune I played by pressing down random keys, releasing them and again choking them down as if I struggled to drown someone, when I got my first keyboard. I didn't know I could sell my work for monies and have it included in a game. (I am just joking, it's no diss towards the composer)
to be honest... thats EXACTLY what I did! hahaha :D it was an old track I made when I bought my first keyboard some years ago. I like its atmosphere nevertheless! :D

This game was a lovely treat all around, the story premise and just about everything. Hearing the save room theme be made by Survival Spheres and that GLORIOUS Silent Hill Easter Egg was icing in the cake. Can't wait until the main game!
I'll never understand why modern gamers hate fixed camera angles. They set the mood for a particular room. Over the shoulder is so uninspired and stale at this point.

Was going to continue watching a playthrough of The Calisto Protocol (would rather spend the money on the Dead Space remake) and this video was on my feed. Much better choice. Haven't watched a ABG vid in a while and this was as good as all the other videos I used to watch back when I just got out of college. This game had a lot of work and influences put into it. The whole "weird smell" from the trunk in the SH2 easter egg was great. You could tell the creators loved the lore of SH2. Keep posting great vids from hardworking creators! Look forward to seeing this game in full
This game somehow reminds me of Twin Peaks and D2 (Dreamcast) combined. Sure the obvious inspiration from Silent Hill, but there's just this early 2000s 5th-6th gen mixture in graphics and storyline.

If you make a separate text field off screen, you can preload your text there to get the NewLine in place in advance. That way, when the text is blitting out on the screen itself, you can avoid having it realize that it needs to start a NewLine mid-word, which causes that jump cut effect.
@@DaniArkadia I think the options should be in the main menu before starting the game. Basic stuff like resolution, filters, framerate before hopping in. And also skippable intro to jump straight to gameplay. I also notice based on this video that the game runs pretty much 30fps for everything, including the menus - the original silent hill ran 60fps on the menus and 30 during gameplay. Perhaps add a hybrid option?
@@DaniArkadia I just got into the game to look at the settings. I think it would be nice to have 60fps for menu and 30fps for gameplay as a hybrid option. For filters maybe have the option to remove the checkerboard dithering?
what is the point of burying the key when someone could simply break a window to get in? or go through the door if they had the right tools/skills how does this place have electricity? out in the middle of no where. there are no powerlines. no way they did it underground with nothing around. another problem horror games have is flashlights, either they require batteries which is ridiculous if they are fresh. or the lighting fails to be realistic. like here it only shows the cone area of where you are aiming. in reality the entire room would become visible. since light also bounces off surfaces. it would be darker behind you. but you'd still be able to see if indoors. 28:07 glitch! Closing if you ignore all the horror trope problems this has. it was an good experience in terms of atmosphere.

The UI and the graphics are very Silent Hill 1, but the setting and the fixed camera angles reminds me more of the OG "Alone in the Dark"

I bought this full price without hesitation. That's now impressed I am with the presentation. Pity there are no customizable graphics options though.

There are a few options when you pause the game btw not sure if you found those
@@DaniArkadia I think the options should be in the main menu before starting the game. Basic stuff like resolution, filters, framerate before hopping in. And also skippable intro to jump straight to gameplay.
I also notice based on this video that the game runs pretty much 30fps for everything, including the menus - the original silent hill ran 60fps on the menus and 30 during gameplay. Perhaps add a hybrid option?

how does this place have electricity? out in the middle of no where. there are no powerlines. no way they did it underground with nothing around.
another problem horror games have is flashlights, either they require batteries which is ridiculous if they are fresh.
or the lighting fails to be realistic.
like here it only shows the cone area of where you are aiming. in reality the entire room would become visible.
since light also bounces off surfaces. it would be darker behind you. but you'd still be able to see if indoors.
