Good Day Rosie 🌹, Thank goodness you made these, my boxes never come with directions. HaHa 😀 that was sarcasm. Sadly I have had these at a friends house and they managed to skrew it up. Wanna have some with you friends, invite guests over and put out the potatoes from a few boxes in a bowl with dip and tell them that they are homemade kettle chips. Make sure you put a few real chips on top and eat them as you put the bowl out so they see you crunch one with no problem. The reaction is priceless, I've done it. 😁 Have a Blessed and Delicious Day. Ciao Bella Amico ✌💗🌷🌷🌷

Hi Rosie, I absolutely LOVE Au Gratin patooties! Julia Child taught me to make them at an early age, but I also believe one cannot beat the simplicity and the flavor from today's boxed product. They go so well with anything, or just by themselves ( I love them with just a small salad). Very nice stockpot you cooked them in~ looks fancy. Yes, have to have the butter. So beautiful at 2:37 Deliciousness in a bowl. Thanks for sharing Rosie!

Hi Rivet, I do cook a lot of things from scratch, but sometimes you just need a shortcut. You know how opinionated the You Tube crowd can be. That is why I said "Yes I could make them from scratch, but sometimes ya just want a shortcut." I think that there are a lot of items in the market that we see all the time, yet never think to try. That is why I like to sometimes share quickie, easy stuff with my friends on UA-cam. Nice talking to you. Have a great day!

Mine usually stays runny. Usually I’m impatient to let it cook that long! Thanks for sharing

Hi Sherry, I believe I cooked these for 15 min. As long as the water starts off boiling it only takes 15 minutes. I think it's worth it. Hoping all is well with you.

Happy Monday Rosie! I don't like boxed foods. Too much sodium and artificial chemicals in them. Lots of folks like them for the convenience and like you mentioned, the quickness of getting it on the table. I prefer to make homemade. My Mom didn't like to cook, and I remember eating lots of box processed foods like this. Instant mash potatoes, tv dinners, hamburger helper, canned Deviled ham, cold cuts, chips and ramen noodles. Not a very healthy or nutritious way to eat back then! Tfs and sending Cali love. XOXO :)

Hi Lila, You just described my childhood diet. I totally get it. It's true regarding the sodium level. Turn most cans around and look at the label. They are written in a different language. All the preservatives. It's definitely healthier to eat home grown things. Although, genetics play the biggest part with longevity in this thing called life. Jack LaLanne said "If it tastes good, spit it out!" He lived to be 96. On the other hand, George Burns smoked cigars and drank. He lived to be 100. The bottom line is....None of us are getting out of this alive! lol

I once got asked if, "Au Gratin," meant, "potato." OMG

Hi Maplecook, It's a reasonable question to ask coming from an American.

@@RosieCooks They were Canadians, though, from Edmonton. 😭
I thought to myself, "How could you have potatoes AU GRATIN if you already said potato in the name?? Like if you had duck à l'orange, you could presumably remove the orange, and still have duck. If Au Gratin meant potato, and you remove the au gratin, how could you even have a dish at all?? You would be staring at an empty plate. Of all the things that au gratin COULD mean, potato is not on the list of possiblities...."
