I REALLY REALLY loved this game in beta when it was still GRO, when they rebranded to phantoms on release it truly became a pay to win shitshow. And it wasn't really pay to "win", more like pay to even compete because if you didn't keep up with the latest weapon releases and have reserves of plates, magnum ammo and grenades, you were just a free kill, literally no point in even spawning in. A game that copied this gameplay loop but had a base price with cosmetic mtx would make millions of dollars. No need to be greedy with purchased mechanical advantage. Ubisoft really killed the goose with this one. Could have been an international e-sport. Imagine pro commentators flying around in spectator mode and shoutcasting fireteam plays.
Yeah i was pretty young at the time but felt the pay 2 win aspect aswell. I got screwed over often by players with the newest weapons. Which then led me to grind them aswell but at the time I got them... newer weapons got released which then meant that the "once op weapon" basically was still the same except for the dmg(it got nerfed to sell the newest weapons) really greedy decisions. Idk if this game would be popular today if it was released now with a lot of advertising but the game was definitely ahead of its time. And I really don't know why ubisoft decided for ghost recon to become an Open world explore game. That direction doesn't really look promising for the future IMO(that's coming from someone who had a great time playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint)

This is what I call a game, gotta work in unison/team mates, NOT just shoot to kill like c.o.d, frontline, phantoms ( to date are good, but not as good, they lost the goal...)
