I love how this game nailed it when it comes to teamplay and intensity of battles, it was just at the right pace. No other game came close to this.

This was the only game I loved alongwith CS. So many highlights with Recon. Those were the days.

Such a shame what happened to this game. I really miss it. It was a great game until Ubisoft decided to introduce the paywall "key" to be able to level above level 10, at that moment literally everyone left the game.

Are there any third person shooters on the market in 2022 that capture the essence of GRO? I REALLY REALLY loved this game in beta when it was still GRO, when they rebranded to phantoms on release it truly became a pay to win shitshow. And it wasn't really pay to "win", more like pay to even compete because if you didn't keep up with the latest weapon releases and have reserves of plates, magnum ammo and grenades, you were just a free kill, literally no point in even spawning in. A game that copied this gameplay loop but had a base price with cosmetic mtx would make millions of dollars. No need to be greedy with purchased mechanical advantage. Ubisoft really killed the goose with this one. Could have been an international e-sport. Imagine pro commentators flying around in spectator mode and shoutcasting fireteam plays.
