I'm from peninsular Malaysia and been auditor for many companies in Malaysia from Sandakan, Miri, Kuching, JB, KK Penang to Langkawi since 2001. for this 23 years long, I've experienced all the vibes and locations. basically almost same all over places in Malaysia. but each places may have their own speciality of cuisine and dialects. that's the only different.
7:45 People tend to expect the food in Sabah & Sarawak to be copycats of food in the peninsula and when that expectation is not met, they tend to say food there aren't nice. The thing is... both Sabah & Sarawak cuisine have milder profile which contain a lot of local plant and herbs as their ingredients and aren't available in the peninsula Malaysia. The assumption that there isn't any diversity in terms of food is that because chinese food dominates. If one were to look harder, you'll find stalls and kopitiams with traditional indigenous food! If you're in Kuching, there are a few places to get indigenous food like Jak Ma'an, Busang Jelini Long Panai, Awah Cafe (a bit further in the city), Rumah Asap (smokehouse where you can find delicious grilled pork)... Just because you can't find many Indian restaurants in there doesn't mean we don't have diversity in our cuisine.

The 9th lie....sabah n sarawak also differs...though both are in borneo...fyi i dont know about sabah but in sarawak, our rivers are all muddy with or without the alledge deforestation. Stay away from palm oil is mainly an economic war by the other vege oil producers but the again do a holistic research about it. Include the socio economic importance too apart from just environmental. Anyway, make a trip to sarawak when you have the opportunity..
Hey I would love to visit Sarawak too! Yeah it's important to research all aspects I agree with that. I did find it sad to see the loss of orangutan habitat. But I understand that's easy for me to say - in the UK we sadly already destroyed most of our natural habitat a long time ago and I do understand it's often what happens with modern development.
Pretty much missing out on a huge part of Malaysian Borneo if you haven't visited Sabah's 'sibling', Sarawak. While there are less resorts, there are many opportunities to authentically experience local culture such as staying in modern or traditional longhouses, or experiencing local cuisine straight from their kitchens. There's also the Cultural Village in Kuching, the Cultural Museum and the Rainforest Music Festival which attract thousands of tourists every year. It's also safe to roam around, the only securiy issue you'll face are with crocodiles 🐊
If you want to see the Orang Utan in the wild pls go to Delok at Batang Ai which is located in the Lubok Antu District, in the Sri Aman Division of Sarawak.
Thanks for visiting Sabah. it is indeed very sad to see the volume plastic bottles floating even around Kota Kinabalu area. The authority should do more about this. And you didn't mention about those kids begging along the streets in KK. It is embarrassing even to us local here. They are the kids of the immigrants from the Philippines. Again our government hasn't done enough to curb this problem.
Did you also check out Sarawak state, also another Malaysian state on Borneo? It only takes 20 mins drive from the Kuching airport to get to the Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre where Orang Utans are being rehabilitate.
Imagine how much deforestation has happened in Europe in the past, that is very sad. We tend to point fingers and look at these Souther nations, while coming from totally destroyed ecosystems ourselves :)
In fact, Malaysia is safer for tourists to visit. Malaysia is known as one of the main world tourism destinations in Southeast Asia. Malaysia is famous for its diversity, KL as a modern and sophisticated city with the best public transport system in Southeast Asia. Malaysia has the best education system and medical health system in Southeast Asia. Malaysia especially KL is also the best shopping center in Southeast Asia with the price affordable items. Malaysia is also a food paradise with a variety of food tastes from all over the world, Malaysian citizens who are highly disciplined, polite, friendly and hospitable.
For some sighseeing Orang utans, you may want to walk through the jungle going to Gomantong Cave. There's a great chances of you seeing few orang utans there/proboscis monkey. Else, you might want to travel (Usually tourist will not travel to this area) to area of Beluran, and the Paitan or Sugut river. chances are great there too. Some of the not known island on East Sabah also have some wildlife there.
why are some people so obsessed with the Ugly orang utan.. do go to Borneo for other reasons.. there's so much more going on.. Ben Fishermin did a brilliant video on his Borneo trip..
Borneans have unique delicacies that can seem exotic to West Malaysians, especially when it comes to halal and non-halal dishes like Kolo Mee, which taste different depending on how they’re prepared. Spice use also varies between regions. East Malaysians often find Peninsular food too spiced, while Peninsular Malaysians may find Sabah or Sarawak food too mild. Personally, I can eat large portions back home & stay slim (physique), but the higher sugar and fat content in the peninsula makes a noticeable difference even for 1 week. 😂 Borneans, especially those from rural areas, have distinct taste buds and often find city food overly sweet or salty. Even vegetarians can enjoy Borneo’s variety of exotic fruits, plants, and mushrooms.
In Sandakan,we have the Orang Utan Rehabilitation center. And a few special awesome parks to visit, like the Crocodile Farm. But,for the safety,I mean wherever you go.Just be careful. In Sabah, ppl can just snatch your wallet from your hand😅. Or worse, they cut your bagpack without you realise it. So never ever put valuable item like HP, wallet on the table and make sure you carry your bagpack at your front side.
Well I lived in area whereas the Orangutan actually lived but not entirely present since Orangutan is a shy animal. Also for Bornean's Orangutan it is called Pongo Pygmaeus but yeah it is divided by 3 sub species ( Sabah's State it is Pongo Pygmaeus Morio).
Malaysia especially Borneo probably may be not be very well-known compared to other countries in SEA... anyway hopefully it's worth visiting and U did enjoy your visit to Malaysia@ Borneo 🎉😅

Hey, fully understand and respect your opinion! I spoke to lots of people in Borneo, many who do want to see an increase in sustainable, mindful tourism (which is what I promote). I always encourage people to visit eco-friendly resorts, clean up beaches and oceans, support conservation programmes etc and do believe that by doing this travel can be a force for good. People will always talk about destinations and share travel stories, we've been doing so since the beginning of time :)
If diving is your thing, check out South Sulawesi, Indonesia... Also, Indonesians usually don't use the name "Borneo", they refer to their part of the Island, and even sometimes the whole island, as Kalimantan.
Too much false information can be obtain if meet with wrong people that asume themselve as tour guide (no licensed)..so be careful next time especially arrive at the airport. (A lot ehailing users will offer severals tour to you with unimaginable price by offline without using apps itself)
We,the people of Sarawak and Borneo are the safest place in the whole of Malaysia The federation of Malaysia is made up of three countries. 1. Malaya or West Malaysia made of small states like Perlis, Kedah,Malacca,Perak, Johore, Penang. . . 2. North Borneo or Sabah 3. Multi racial marriage is the norm. Please don't be mislead by those crooks . You can see orang utan, feed them and is only 12 miles from City centre. We love Sarawak and English is widely spoken too. whats the real need of seeing orangutans in the wild, to start with 😅? it requires waiting about in jungles with pesky mosquitos leeches, for like 5 minutes sightings ? the conservations, with built watching platforms, and with 99% assured sightings (?) are just perfect tradeoff
Hard to put into words but there's something especially magical I think, especially as there aren't so many of them. Personally I always will wait around to see one but each to their own :)
@@ClairesFootstepsyou don't see it many because orang utan stay deep in the jungle, as a north Borneo Islands person I know, I was born here and most tourists who come to north Borneo Islands thought they can see orang utan when going to the jungle, 😅 orang utan just staying in one areas and only in Sandakan. @@ClairesFootsteps indeed the feeling is different. we were lucky to be able to see some wild orang utans outside the Gomantong cave (somewhere in Kinabatangan jungle)

Deforestation is definitely a problem in Eastern Malaysia. It usually involving people from the highest level. Politician. That's why it's hard to protect the forest. 😢
Do come visit the great Mulu Cave in Sarawak. You won't regret it@@ClairesFootsteps
It's on my list to visit 🙂
If you want to see the Orang Utan in the wild pls go to Delok at Batang Ai which is located in the Lubok Antu District, in the Sri Aman Division of Sarawak.
Thanks Claire...
Sabah has the most tourists from East Asia if you take a tour from an agent because transportation is quite difficult in Sabah
TQ for visit Borneo Sabah part of MSIA, I think try to visit Sarawak MSIA, n feel safe.u can drive from kk to Kuching Sarawak by pass Brunei.
Nice video.. 👍♥
10 pulau tercantik di Sabah Malaysia...10 beautiful islands in Sabah Malaysia. Have a nice day.
Malaysia Borneo is Sabah Borneo and Sarawak Borneo. Two different territory. Sabah Borneo is bordering the Philippines.
Yes! Sorry I did know that but might not have explained it properly in the video!
Please come to (Kuching) Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia, so can see in ulu menyang, wild orang utan and more cultural traditions and foods…..
terimakasih. thank you for such a nice review.
May you have a wonderful stay..: MALAYSIA BOLEH..!!! 🌷❤️🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾❤️🌷😁💪💪💪💪 💖🌹 ❤️
Awesome! ❤
why are some people so obsessed with the Ugly orang utan.. do go to Borneo for other reasons.. there's so much more going on.. Ben Fishermin did a brilliant video on his Borneo trip..
It's their money, not yours. so it's up to them.
We now have EESCOM to protect eastern sabah from Filipino pirates .
Not EESCOM but ESSCOM ~ East Sabah Security Command.
Yes I heard that that's why it's quite secure now :)
You need to try the local friut in Sabah. Buah tarap, buah bambangan. Once eaten forever like it 😂
Borneans have unique delicacies that can seem exotic to West Malaysians, especially when it comes to halal and non-halal dishes like Kolo Mee, which taste different depending on how they’re prepared.
Borneans, especially those from rural areas, have distinct taste buds and often find city food overly sweet or salty.
Thanks sister..... 😊😊
If u r vegetarians, next time try jely segu or kangkung goreng, cucumber leaf soup
Next time!
9:54 that looked way too much muddy, maybe it's raining upstream the river
Well I lived in area whereas the Orangutan actually lived but not entirely present since Orangutan is a shy animal. Also for Bornean's Orangutan it is called Pongo Pygmaeus but yeah it is divided by 3 sub species ( Sabah's State it is Pongo Pygmaeus Morio).
Good evening my friend. I am happy to meet you
Yes,uncle TAN...LOCATED IN SANDAKAN TOO.😂😂😂😂
Malaysia especially Borneo probably may be not be very well-known compared to other countries in SEA... anyway hopefully it's worth visiting and U did enjoy your visit to Malaysia@ Borneo 🎉😅
*Welcome to Malaysia truly Asia good food, good people beautiful beach, GOOD DURIAN TOO , beautiful skyscrapers, Centre Off Travelers & others, M"sian likes to lepak Restaurant Mamak drink Teh Tarik, Likes to joining Malaysian just asking them, Welcome 🇲🇾💙🧡♥️💙🇲🇾*
the orange thinggy in the map, not even safe for the local to travel too.. 😅
can you specific which one?sabah or sarawak?
100,000 Orang Utans? WHAT? there were only about 20,000 in the 1980s, before the massive deforestation.
WWF says differently! www.worldwildlife.org/species/bornean-orangutan
Visiting KK later! :)
Almost all the big rivers in Sarawak are brown with sendiment, unlike many rivers in Europe or NAmerica.
in the past Sulu terrorist would kidnapping tourists for ransom.. but today both Malaysia and Philippine have agreement to increasing patrolling around those area.. so it's quite safe for tourists to visit
U wc n tq u coz visit my hometown.come again to climb mount kinabalu....feel the experience u never2 ever forget.❤❤❤❤❤
Yes I'm planning to climb Mount Kinabalu on my next trip to Borneo!
You should mention ESSCOM
Yes I should have! I didn't know so much about them when I was there, learnt a lot from people in the comments 🙂
This you talking about,😂😂😂😂😂is where i live, where orang utan is,IS THE STATE OF SANDAKAN,😂😂😂😂😂THE SECOND CITY OF KOTA KINABALU,😂😂😂😂😂WELL THANK YOU,VERY NICE!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍😉😉😉😉🫰🫰🫰🌄🌄🌄😃😃😃😃⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
ofc according to a British, the Bornean foods are amazing :))))
Hi Clare..hope to meet you soon when you travel again to Borneo.. Please do not hesitate to contact me.. Nice to meet you..😊❤
Come to Sarawak
Pls don't spread those news bout Borneo, East Malaysia. We like it to b less touristy, we don't want over tourism that could destroy our nature & environment. Whatever u luv bout here, juz keep it to urself 👍👍👍
Most of d places u visited is a tourist trap...get a local to guide u for real feel of sabah.
Ye, the forest is shrinking and the government here are in denial,
Welcome to Sabah borneo
one of the lies is that they said Borneo Malaysian live in the tree.... i went and see none at all... i was exited for nothing 😂
Hahaha then you'd love the sarcastic video by an African woman on how backwards they are example have to run from lions, no air-conditioning etc 😁😂
Too much false information can be obtain if meet with wrong people that asume themselve as tour guide (no licensed)..so be careful next time especially arrive at the airport. (A lot ehailing users will offer severals tour to you with unimaginable price by offline without using apps itself)
As a malaysia. Yes samporna is not safe place. Please dont come there.. Pleaseeee. Nanti ramai pelancong rosak tempat favoured aku tuuu... Hehe
Haha I copied that into Google translate 🤣
Borne is a huge island . Sarawak . Sabah . Kalimantan Brunei . So when you say Borneo , it's misleading.
Or just said north borneo
Going to the wild to see orang utan is like going to the wild to see gorilla
We,the people of Sarawak and Borneo are the safest place in the whole of Malaysia
The federation of Malaysia is made up of three countries.
1. Malaya or West Malaysia made of small states like Perlis, Kedah,Malacca,Perak,
Johore, Penang. . .
2. North Borneo or
Sabah
3. Sarawak which is the
size of West Malaysia
Sarawak has the majority of Christian and NO official in Sarawak under the 18 points plan MA63.
We share same table with Muslims and non muslims in Sarawak. Multi racial marriage is the norm.
Please don't be mislead by those crooks . You can see orang utan, feed them and is only 12 miles from City centre.
We love Sarawak and English is widely spoken too. Other languages spoken are Chinese, Bahasa Bangku Malaysia, local Malay, IBAN,Bidayuh, Lun Bawang, etc, etc. The only place where Church and mosque are built side by side, one in Miri and one in Kuching,it's just unique and Kuching is a clean city
Puji Tuhan👍👍😘😘
Praise God👍👍😘❤️
❤❤❤
Its pronunced oh-runk oo-tunt not oh-rank oh-tang❤
❤
🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Malaysia mainland? You mean peninsular Malaysia?
I meant Malaysia on the Asian mainland, not the correct terminology but often when you're talking you can forget the exact word 👍
whats the real need of seeing orangutans in the wild, to start with 😅? it requires waiting about in jungles with pesky mosquitos leeches, for like 5 minutes sightings ? the conservations, with built watching platforms, and with 99% assured sightings (?) are just perfect tradeoff
And I was staying in different areas. Even myself can't see orang utan daily. So it seems that you guys get a lot of misunderstanding about our country but I do appreciate you visiting the Borneo Islands, and I would have to say thank you 🙏. maybe next time you consider coming again but better in may, there is a traditional festival activity here in north Borneo. See you next time. 💐🌹
@@ClairesFootsteps indeed the feeling is different. we were lucky to be able to see some wild orang utans outside the Gomantong cave (somewhere in Kinabatangan jungle)
The feeling of seeing wild orang utan is very different , their eyes are " alive and happy",seeing them enjoying wild fruit , playing on trees, you can feel the happy atmosphere. zoo orang utan eyes has a dead and bored look. And the thrill of sighting a wild one is priceless. Btw , in a unbroken ecosystem , there won't be any mosquitos , I went to Danum valley , primary rainforest zero mosquitos.
Yes Danum Velly, the northern ulu segama urangutan habitats (NUS)are good area to spot urangutan in the wild. However not sure if the NUS is open for public visitation as infras for such purpose were not developed.
Come again!
You only went to Sabah not Sarawak.
Walcom to malaysia
Yes and know😂😂😂
The truth is Borneo country only Sabah and Sarawak. Malaysia is different. We are borneo not malaysia
