Not to sound like an ass, but this show runs a lot smoother without Chris making 3/5s and segregation jokes. I appreciate the fact that Colin chose Chris initially as a co-host cause he's platform agnostic and has a fresh take on the industry but I still question his presence on this PlayStation-focused podcast now. More often than not when a serious topic rise on PlayStation or a specific game he's like a fish out of water, I don't need Colin to find an actual fanboy but it'd help to have someone on the panel who likes the brand, plays on it and knows PlayStation.

Hey Colin... Is your controller breaking or is your "relatively new" wedding ring making more noise when your controller vibrates? Just curious because that noise has surprised me now and then.
Hearing Colin mention people telling him that he "works too much and works too hard", and that they don't want it as bad really resonates so much with me. I've worked in the games industry for nearly 8 years at this point, and literally had HR complaints from people saying "You working overtime is making people feel like they're not working hard enough". These same people who would coast all day and not hit their deadlines. Too many people these days just expect to be able to do the bare minimum and don't want to work hard, too many people who contribute the bare minimum and expect to reap the rewards... It's a joke.
Probably because there is more to life than working lol. It's why if you're an American, American society is so shit and people have horrible life expectancy, health issues, and why overall the general population is unhappy. Great, you're working over time, and killing yourself. Those are hours of your life you'll never get back that you could spend with family and friends. How is Colin struggling to understand what Rise of the Ronin is like when there's so many videos and previews out there that show you what it is. If you're struggling after that then that's wild
Could be because he has played so few Souls-like games that he may be a bit unsure as to what even counts as a Souls-like. Ronin may have a bit a Souls/Nioh influence here and there, but in terms of genre overall it's not a Souls-like.
@@iluvmusicqwe but surely from just listening to the multiple previews and watching the game you would get the general gist of it like any other game? It's parry dodge combat gameplay in an open world with open world objectives. What's so mystifying about this particular game?

Yah know I'm thinking rhe same thing. I get the idea of wanting to replay the previous game from a series before the new one comes but...like... that's something you do when or if there is a super dry season of games coming out. Does no one else think it's kinda bizarre that he's been doing this with multiple games lol. It's like as if the time between FF7 remake and rebirth are the equivalent time in-between the original FF7 and FF7 remake lmaoooo 😂 And why in earth did spidey 1 need a replay AND do every single thing in open world before playing Spiderman 2?? @@Mmachine88 He doesn't remember, and wants to do it. I kinda get it. @boochtron no, it's not that I don't understand because I do. Especially the movie reference, but with movies it's much easier to do and you can do it with people. And doesn't take nearly as long. I’m not so sure I agree with either take. Why shouldn’t you make a stand on a topic you feel strongly about. When everything came out about Kotick I stopped immediately buying Acti/Blizz games. I’m not dumb thinking that it made any impact, but I was done. Sure other people at those companies probably hated him too that also received collateral damage from my actions. Despite those reasons it was a personal stand. For the company I work at if individuals applied the same actions I wouldn’t hold it against them. There’s lots of gray area between those takes we should apply and not be so black and white in our outlook.

Porting MCC could very likely be a nightmare honestly. The game is already held together with duct tape and still has some issues. For that reason I think Dustin's idea of Halo Infinite's multiplayer is much more likely, but that would be something that happens early/sometime next year I would imagine. As far as optics, I think this is one of those things where only "hardcore" gamers care anymore. As a Halo fan, I just want more people to have the opportunity to play the game.
With 343i winding down development for Infinite and already struggles maintaining updates for Xbox and PC, I don't think porting to Playstation would be possible.
@@DanIsJustDan It would 100% be "possible" - also, the (arguably) biggest update the game has ever gotten that overhauls the networking system and makes sandbox changes is coming tomorrow. There are other major features like a "match composer" that are coming this year as well, and the game has been getting consistent updates for over half a year now. The "winding down" thing is just a Reddit narrative that relies on a pessimistic interpretation of a single comment they made (which was just them confirming they are working on other projects). Despite that, the game being in a "complete state" at the end of the year is all the more reason of why they could justify the port, "the major work on the game is done, might as well bring it to a new audience and make millions." The only actual reason they wouldn't port it at some point is because they decide that they don't want Halo on PlayStation. There is no other valid reason for them not to.
@@Epiousios18 Although Reddit (especially r/Halo) has absurd hyperbolic takes on 343i's intentions, it is safe to deduce that they're reducing support on Infinite. The shift to non-committal Content Updates, dwindling player population, and acknowledging future projects would suggest Infinite nearing it's EOL (not immediate but towards that direction). I'd like to emphasize that a new project has the opportunity to be more financially viable and "better" allocation of developer resources than the current state of Infinite. IMO there is lesser financial incentive to port a live-service game to other platforms if the live-service support is declining. Comparatively, Sea of Thieves continueS to release seasonal content alongside its PS5 port without any clear signs of slowing (although perhaps at the determent of their Everwild release). The only counterpoint I can think of would be MCC PC release 5 years after the console release, but that was during the XB1's shift to PC support.
@@DanIsJustDan My perspective is that nothing has really changed with the game, as soon as they dropped the "seasonal narrative" last year it was clear that 343 majorly changed their plans for the game and nothing has really changed since then except for them being done pretending like the game has actual "seasons" (we are getting more content, more consistently, than ever actually with Forge content). We have known for over a year via leaks that 343 have been working on "other projects" since shortly after Infinite's release, they just recently officially acknowledged that fact though, while making sure to say they have a dedicated team on Infinite. The fact that Infinite's Battlepasses don't expire and are still available for purchase means that the game is already filled without purchasable content regardless of if they continue adding more to it. Regardless, I expect Infinite to be supported with at least Forge content until the release of the next Multiplayer Halo game, so it isn't likely it would be a "dead game" when the port would be happening. The game is still relatively highly played on Xbox, and even though it has cooled off since the moderate resurgence it saw at the end of last year, it is still more popular now than it was at the same point in time last year. It isn't like Microsoft has a ton of options for ports that would generate a large amount of revenue. Infinite is by far one of their best options and you have to do some real mental gymnastics in order to convince yourself otherwise as far as I can tell, that doesn't mean they will do it though. They could just decide it isn't worth the potential PR hit.
@@Epiousios18 I can understand the perspective about there not being a significant change, as these type of CU drops (Halo 3 playlist & Squad Battle update) happened during Season 5 as well. However, I'd say the shift away from seasonality (BP) is very telling about Infinite's direction. 343i could have removed/reduced BP credits but the shift away from BPs towards Operational passes and Armor bundles could indicate financial concerns. Without sufficient financial support (MTX, BP, Operation Passes), 343i or MS may be incentivized to move onto another project (i.e. recent Rebsgaming report on MCC support). Also, IMO old BPs won't be enough (financially) without further live-service support. I'm not confident that even a PS port would address those concerns either because we'll have to examine cost-benefit. There are other inherent opportunity costs that comes from porting, minimal support services (bug fixing, store refreshes, etc), and current/future project development. It's not just about a potential PR hit nor mental gymnastics. MS could demand an Infinite PS port (although not obligated), but I just don't see if happening given 343i's current state and direction.
Chris would have made light of the racist comments and tried to prove that none of this should matter to white people. Chris' job as part of the CIA is to keep the pressure off so social change can continue to devour our entire world.
A three hour movie or a three hour gaming session, to me the gaming sessions have a more intrinsic value. Watching movies and TV is something that many people do without much thinking. There are exceptions but many games you have to make decisions, use your hands to move the player around which involves coordination. A video game just seems to be more productive.
A sacred symbols+ with Mark Kern and Hoeg would be awesome! And if it happens 2, 3, or 4 weeks from now an advantage could be that the dust is settled on this.
The idea that Xbox’s new strategy will be “you can purchase these games elsewhere or just buy our console for gamepass” seems very flawed because gamepass is already not doing well….how does taking away a potential reason to sub or buy an Xbox help gamepass? So the idea is that after trying Xbox games on PlayStation players in substantial numbers are gonna purchase an Xbox because instead of owning the games they would rather buy an entire console for the luxury of a subscription service?that seems so bonkers an idea. Also that assumes the people who own Xbox and sub to gamepass aren’t going to jump ship to the console that gets there games plus PlayStation games…this seems like a move you make when you know gamepass is failing anyway so now you want to make money and can’t just kill it publicly. These are clearly not moves you make if you want to stay in the console industry.
Well thats why these arguments make no sense and the people saying things like exclusives shouldn't be exclusive are not paying attention to anything or are severely out of touch. This strategy only works if they contiue with specifically what Phil said recently. Games that are small titles that aren't really meant to be pure exclusives, purely live service ran games, or sometimes maybe games that have been out for several years and have more or less hit their peak with users from xbox and PC, and maybe from those who are streaming the games on GP. They will also have keep their core xboxy games exclusive. Those being Halo, gears, forza, and Fable. He even said as much when he said they wouldn't bring over games that would harm the xbox brand because they know that the success of the xbox brand is still important.
Not doing well... 3 billion $ profit last year And without the cadence this year/following/year after 1st party AAA games to drop. COD Black Ops Gulf War day and date this fall Gamepass COD library also all campaigns MP servers opened with FPS boost. Expect that 3 bn $ to be 5bn $ by end of 2025 now do the math of 70$ games and all those billions. 😏
Gamepass is doing well, its just not doing as stratospherically well as they were hoping it would do. 35 Million fully paid subs or wherever it's at now really isn't bad.
@alexlyster3459 True, MS strategy ever since introducing GP and launching day and day to PC, console and GP has been a mixed model source of revenue. Of course they'd probably have liked to see the total subs to be at least double at this point. But with the way this year is looking and next year and so on.. I could see the numbers finally starting to go up again. In my opinion, at least lol
Halo and Gears on ps5 would be nice and do very well, but that means Xbox giving away a huge part of its identity. If Xbox does that things must be desperate. The Halo master collection is pretty much the only reason why i own a series x.

Not wanting to cover this fisaco doesn't mean a creator is automatically aligned with SBI - that's an incredibly unfair assumption. They might just simply see it as boring internet culture war drama. Even Colin has said last week "I don't particularly want to talk about this, i'm only doing it because so many people are writing in".
Right, but he still talked about it because it’s obviously important to his audience. That’s what I respect. It’s been the biggest story in gaming for the last 3 weeks. To not even comment on it if you cover anything else in gaming is….odd. Don’t care what side you fall on but it’s easy to assume what side is indicated by total silence. 3:11:30 as a non US, Balkan listener i have to say that this subject is very very important outside of the US. USA is basically expanding its "fiefdom" by exporting its culture to all of its allies. This is slowly becoming a huge anathema. We've reached a point in the Balkans that you can't criticize woke politics because it is considered pro-Russia and anti-American, anti-liberty and so on. The focus in all this ESG, DEI, woke stuff is interfering with your foreign policies. EU elections are closing in and we see a rise in pro-Russia parties. Mind you, pro-Russia but also the only nationalist parties. It is considered a huge no no for mainstream, pro-American parties to even have a nationalist/patriotic sentiment. I fear that woke politics in the end will push nations in eastern Europe away. You need to find a way to have that dialogue without hurting your allies.

To Colin’s question about rise of the ronin, I’m also the same way like wtf is this game if it’s a soulsborne I want nothing to do with it. But I’m thinking it’s more like the Jedi Fallen order games. The first one always talked about how it was similar to souls. But really they weren’t other then the hardest difficulty and the whole like rest points. I’m thinking rise of the ronin is closer to that takes things from souls but gives you difficulty levels so it’s not as hard and more enjoyable then souls games.
I watched an IGN video preview, which basically said Rise of the Ronin is an Assassin's Creed-type open-world adventure with the usual main story quests, side quests and activities like mini-games. It has "a smidgen of Ninja Gaiden combat and a dash of Dark Souls difficulty". Jedi Fallen Order has more Souls-influences, as it even has bonfires, which are a typical feature of Souls-like games. Jedi is kind of a mixture of various genres.

There's hardly any gameplay footage available. All we're able to see is the b roll don't provided for previews and snippets from Sony's marketing.

Like neither the first Spiderman or FF7 remake came out that long ago to feel like you gotta replay em before the next one. It's like as if the time between FF7 remake and rebirth are the equivalent time in-between the original FF7 and FF7 remake lmaoooo 😂
And why in earth did spidey 1 need a replay AND do every single thing in open world before playing Spiderman 2?? I love the guy, but it's just a bit quarky I guess is what I'm saying.
What's going to happen if he never finishes Rebirth?
@@Mmachine88 He doesn't remember, and wants to do it. I kinda get it. Although it's more or more tempting to just play the Yuffie stuff and move on. I at the very least want to do that, when that came out I didn't have a ps5, and just... never got to it. Again, I kinda get it. Before Avengers Infinity War or Endgame came out, I rewatched like all the MCU movies. Granted that's like a special occasion, but people do things like that. Colin has a bad memory imo to. Remember he was late to finishing FF7 Remake.
@boochtron no, it's not that I don't understand because I do. Especially the movie reference, but with movies it's much easier to do and you can do it with people. And doesn't take nearly as long.

It's no surprise that situation hits one of his biases.

Despite that, the game being in a "complete state" at the end of the year is all the more reason of why they could justify the port, "the major work on the game is done, might as well bring it to a new audience and make millions."
The only actual reason they wouldn't port it at some point is because they decide that they don't want Halo on PlayStation.

Man I love Ludwig, he's made some incredible music and is one of the most talented producers out there. That makes his dumb comment stick out so much more to me. For someone who worked on the nerdiest rap ever created (Cul de Sac - Childish Gambino), I would think he would understand games more lol
That title though... perfection
He works at Mr. Cacciatore’s down on Sullivan Street
Across from the medical center
I'm excited for the for live show gents. Happy to see LSM thrive.
Is it just me or Chris puts really low effort on this show? He's the only one constantly missing episodes and never takes the initiative to talk, he always need to be questioned by the guys to join in on conversations and almost seems annoyed to answer sometimes . Don't get me wrong I like him as a youtube personality but come on WTF is this? I can't be the only one who noticed this! In all honesty it feels like Colin is forced to keep him employed in the show just because he doesn't want to lose him as a friend! How to fill the possible vacant third chair? Mystic Ryan is the answer as we all saw on the special episode and to finally make this the TRUE number one Playstation Podcast! BTW I follow Colin since the start of Kinda Funny so I get it that he wants to keep the status quo and doesn't wanna get burned with friends again but if he wants to raise the level of the podcast/company there's one one solution unfortunately...
Chris had the odd good analytical take on the games industry but most of the time he talks incoherent babble. 90% is just what he saw on Twitter. He’s like the stereotypical millennial that he complains about. I’d be fine with just Colin and Dustin on the show if Chris ever left.
Congrats to Helldivers 2 for selling 8 million copies! Source: Bloomberg
That’s $320 million if everybody bought the $40 version, but I’m sure there’s at least 500,000 who bought the $60 Super Citizen edition, Huge success for PlayStation!
These games journalists are so bold and entrenched, because the Canadian and US governments pay to defend these journalists/devs. Our tax dollars are working against us.
Care to expand on that bold statement
To be fair, if any sports position would be qualified to be President or VP, it’s a Quarterback.
I called it back when multi versus released lile a year or so ago. I said this is just a fad and after a week or twonit will die, same outlook again!!
Nioh and Ghost of Tsushama are very similar. Did Colin even play them?
In what way? I didn't play Nioh.
@@VariantAEC Ugh. First, the combat is very similar. Multiple stances, switching stances in real time, parrying, etc. Next, the mission structure. You open the map, you select a mission / side mission, you teleport there, do the mission, rinse and repeat. The only difference is in Nioh you don’t travel between locations on a horse.
The sound of the speaker volume is too loud now, I hate it.
Set the volume to 1.
I had it set to 6 pre-update, and 3 is fine now with 1 being for quiet sound, and my hearing is supposedly normal as of official testing.
There's a System Shock 2 Remaster in development but no Remake.
Saying that video games offer the same value as Cinema is an insane thing to say.
I’m surprised Colin-you’re usually a treasure trove of archaic, esoteric, or just plain useless knowledge. @2:15:30 you state you don’t know what Goddess of Vitcory Nikke is. Surely you’ve heard of the Greek Nike, whose *swoosh* graces countless pairs of Air Jordan’s?
Cue the classic Three Stooges head clunk sound effect
No PC is playing FF16 at 4K120fps currently lol
Nice Tool reference in the title.
Found a dragon ball book at a thriftstore. A couple of days later the news dropped.
Bring Grummz on the show
To Colin’s question about rise of the ronin, I’m also the same way like wtf is this game if it’s a soulsborne I want nothing to do with it.
The game awards has had more viewers than the oscars and emmys combined for years now, no need to look it up unless you want hard numbers.
