People, my cousin actually works with Siobhan and she is as nice as she appears on camera in real life!! We need more genuinely sweet and hard working people like her!! Thank you for everything you do and for your service, Siobhan!!
I’m a retired critical care RN (ICU, OHU, inpt HD over the years) and this video brought back so many memories of going non-stop on a 12 hour shift- no breaks, no food, no drinks, no bathroom breaks.....I don’t think people get it unless they’ve walked in our shoes. I was brought to tears when your hubby handed you your goody bag...I could tell your reaction was genuine. I re-live my critical care memories through your videos. Thanks!
@@rdizzy1 well, given the fact that one’s going all day, one’s also not drinking. I’m not saying any of it was healthy, it was just a fact of life. I was much younger then lol 😏

For some reason this made me tear up. Thank you for genuinely caring for your patients. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure in the ER a few weeks ago, and it’s terminal (he is almost 91, but sharp as can be). Nice doctors make all the difference. A few years ago I was in the ER while I was away at college. I was 1000miles away from home, I didn’t know what was wrong until day 3 and no one visited me but I had one nurse that talked to me so gentle. I was 21 at the time but she called me kiddo and she’d bring me snacks when the car was closed and it was just such a relief. I was so scared not know what was wrong, being alone and so far from home and my mom that having someone be so kind and maternal was so relieving. Compassion changes everything!

Other studies report much higher figures, claiming the number of deaths from medical error to be as high as 440,000. The reason for the discrepancy is that physicians, funeral directors, coroners and medical examiners rarely note on death certificates the human errors and system failures involved. Yet death certificates are what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rely on to post statistics for deaths nationwide. The authors of the Johns Hopkins study, led by Dr. Martin Makary of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, have appealed to the CDC to change the way in which it collects data from death certificates. To date, no changes have been made, Makary said. ‘The system is to blame’ Makary defines a death due to medical error as one that is caused by inadequately skilled staff, error in judgment or care, a system defect or a preventable adverse effect. This includes computer breakdowns, mix-ups with the doses or types of medications administered to patients and surgical complications that go undiagnosed. “Currently the CDC uses a deaths collection system that only tallies causes of death occurring from diseases, morbid conditions, and injuries,” Makary stated in a letter urging the CDC to change the way it collects the nation’s vital health statistics. “It’s the system more than the individuals that is to blame,” Makary said. I have no desire to be a doctor, but I'm hooked on these vlogs. Your personality is so positive and infectious. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to make these videos.
Your patients are so very fortunate to have you! Thanks for all you do.❤️
Siobhan just want to let you know that all the people in Canada appreciate your help and we want to thank you for the educational videos as well
Her voice is so soothing
I once had Myxademia of madness and I was 2 weeks away from coma and what I found fascinating was what the brain can do to you...
I had a pain which was phycosomatic which got me to a doctor and it went just after starting treatment but I will always be in awe at what are brains can do to us and I was just a normal sane mother to a young daughter but I did things I can't even believe I did now and had something telling me to do something to myself but it was all down to a mis diagnosed underactive thyroid gland and I cannot tell you how well I felt within a couple of weeks starting treatment...
Thank you for everything and taking care of people. You don’t understand how grateful I am of people like you.
I love your enthusiasm and positive attitude. I hope you never lose it. Thanks for giving us a look behind the scenes at the hospital!
Shiobhan is the kind of person that I would love to meet and become friends with. She has made quarantine more relaxing. She is a great resident. Doctors and nurses need to have the same attitude as her.
Hello Violin, My pleasure to meet you back. Thank you for your lovely videos at the hospital. No any doctor has been able to post their medical videos at the hospital as you did Violon. Thank you Violin. I can gain many medical knowledges from you
Patients are incredibly lucky to have you as their doctor, and families are lucky to have such a sweet dr looking after their loved ones! My family and I unfortunately encountered a trauma surgeon who let’s just say has zero business talking to anyone who isn’t under anesthesia!! Can’t wait for your next video! Much love from the states!! 💖💖💖
You seem way more compassionate and competent than the last ICU doc who treated me
As a newborn hospitalist for a level-1 nursery (low acuity) that does 24 hour/day call for 14 days straight, I must say I would still take this over ICU. I know it's satisfying to change patients' lives for the better, but OMG you make me tired just watching your call nights! Love your smile!
I love how informative and educational your videos are! Not only do they make one feel good but they're also so informative. I am a nursing student and I really appreciate how you include all those patient details with us while also maintaining confidentiality! Keep up your amazing work, you are born to be a doctor!
Siobhan is so nice, I genuinely enjoy her content more than I should. I’m legit stupid and I’m going to film school and personally haven’t seen a doctor in 5 years but watching her say all these big words makes me feel better and smart 😂 people like Siobhan make me realize there is smart people out there that can help my stupid ness!!
Thank you for updating, educating and entertaining us. I have nothing to do with the whole medical field (not a medical student or anything) but I enjoy your videos so much! They are educational, your mood is always so uplifting and nothing seems to destroy it. Thank you so much for caring for so many patients and saving so many lifes!
Shioban has some of the best "Day in the Life of a Doctor" videos that I could find. As a person interested in medicine I love these because you really feel like you are getting a true idea of what is like to be a doctor!
Thank you for always informing us of all the hard work and dedication you put into your patients and the love and smiles you always share with us. Doctors and Nurses deserve so much respect and love right now. Love you Siobhan and Mark!!!!
I absolutely love your videos!!!! I'm a nursing tech getting ready to start school for my BSN and I wish the doctors was as nice and sweet as you are 🙂
I have an Ontario med school interview in a week! This is the perfect inspiration for the final week of prep! Thanks Siobhan! 😊
Your channel gives me so much more respect for doctors, nurses and hospitals in general. I live in Canada where healthcare is free and often times people will take the hospitals, nurses, and doctors for granted
These videos are great , six month after I had treatment for an overactive thyroid I passed out when blood work was done I didn't have any thyroid reading. But thankfully I wasn't poorly like this lady has been. Your videos are so interesting
Those patients are doing better because of you Siobhan! And a great team of nurses. You are so smart! Your videos always bring a tear (of joy) to my eye. Please keep helping the world like you do. 😇
i really enjoy your videos. i studied business administration in switzerland with focus in finance but i am really interested in other science areas, such as medicine. i do not get everything but it is still interesting to learn something new 🙂 i really admire people who study medicine.... after watching your videos i understand how important and hard medicine as a study-subject is! so glad to have motivated doctors like you 😊
Siobhan - I can tell you are an amazing doctor. I love watching your videos. I'm a new nurse and I love hearing the rationales behind everything that you guys do. It's also nice to see a familiar (Canadian/Ontarian) health care setting. You are awesome!
the fact that you work so hard and still take time to record these videos for us and keep educating us for years is amazing! thank you for all your work
Can't leave without saying you and your huzzy are so sweet.
Prayer to your.
Thank for the video
Thank you for all your hard work , you and all the people working in hospitals are true heroes ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Siobhan! Wow an intense night! What a great husband Mark is! Stay safe Siobhan! 💜
You have such a bright smile and you seem so positive and strong. Watching you just makes me happy, believing I can do this and stay strong and positive during difficult stressful life situations
There is a reason why you never get a dislike, it is impossible for anyone to dislike videos like yours and the efforts that you have to go through during a pandemic. Keep it up c:
I too love stopping in front of those windows for the view. C4 has a great view at night and the courtyard has ligts up in the trees 🥰
It's a nice little pick-me-up moment leaving after visitation.
Thank you for sharing your videos and journey with us. It definitely feels good from a patient/family perspective to know there are Drs still so passionate about what they do and have good bedside manor.
holy cow, you were filming with a phone??! you've got a REALLY steady hand!!
you are literally amazing! thank you for letting us shadow you virtually!
Holy crapola! Working six hours straight w 0 sleep, 0 bathroom breaks, AND 0 water breaks! You and all your colleagues are WARRIORS! I hope you and Mark managed to celebrate Valentine's Day the best you could without being too zombified haha
Whenever I hear that clapping music I get nervous. 😬
me too i get the same way
Whenever I hear that I know that she’s rushing to somewhere...Somehow I stay perfectly calm.
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now! 💜 Thank-you Siobhan! Thank you for your selflessness, compassion, empathy and concern for your patients! You’re definitely a one-of-a kind Doctor! - McMaster Hospital is so lucky to have you :P

Thank you Siobhan for posting these videos. You are such an inspiration. I appreciate how hard working you are. Thank you for everything that you do. You really inspire me to want to become an internal medicine physician.
If I had to visit an ICU I would like to get on a plane all the way from Sweden to Canada - just so get treated by you. Such a good job you are doing through tough times and still beeing so nice and calm. Allt the best!
Welcome back! We missed you
You are such a good doctor. Your patients are lucky to have you tending to them. ❤️

I have really enjoyed your videos. They are so informative. Keep them coming. Your kind heart and caring spirit are a gift to all.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... EVERY Doctor should be like Shioban... I always stop anything I'm doing when I check a notification of one of your videos... The day grinds to a halt when I notice it... Keep safe!
Love your work Dr Siobhan. You are doing a great job and your are great inspiration for me. Take care!
While sharing "Your Rounds" AND educating us too along the way Siobhan, you also inspire us with your positivity and compassion and genuine love of your craft! YOU are going to have such an even Greater impact in your Medicine Realm because you are already impacting people now while you are still a resident! I'm grateful for a seat on this Ride and always a blast to read the notes from your loyal followers too! Cheers From Ohio
Omg you're always so excited, I love seeing people be passionate!!
Wow. Incredible, I hope through all the exhaustion, stress, dehydration and lack of sleep you can always step back and appreciate what an incredible service you perform. Well done.
I’m a pharmacist and have never seen a hypothyroid myxedema coma either. Most of the time people get to the dr for thyroid hormone when they have the symptoms of low thyroid. I’ve never seen it go so far as to lead to coma. A very interesting case!
2:00 When I worked security in the hospital I would take food orders for the doctors working and make runs to the cafeteria before they closed. They always seemed to like that.
You are a genuinely loving human. I wanna say thank you for some reason 😂
wow lol thats good of you to do so the doctors wont have to deal with walking
You are a true hero. This is more appreciated than you know. Thank you!
That's awesome of you Eric :)
Love love watching your videos- l hope that if l ever get sick or make it to a hospital you’re my doctor! I have so much respect for everyone out there on the front line.
Thank you for everything you do each day!
Thank you for reading almost all the comments, your videos are getting more and more fun to watch! You aspire so many people with your UA-cam channel, thank you for everything you do!
It’d be fun to see you do a “Doctor Reacts” video. You’re so insightful and explain things so clearly and well!
Love your videos!!
Must have lots of energy.
Bless you for helping all.those people in need!!
Thank you for everything you do, you’re an incredible person and you should be so incredibly proud of yourself for your hard work!🥰
Let’s praise siobhan for being one of the only doctors who have understandable handwriting 😂😂🥲
You give me so much life! :) I love your positive attitude despite a sleepless and busy night! You are the sweetest doctor on UA-cam! Sending you positive vibes!
Doctor Siobhan, you are a rockstar! Every time I see your videos, I grow a stronger appreciation for everyone in the medical field. Keep up the good work!💜
First hypothyroid case in four years of residency rare indeed. Nice detective work
My boyfriend is a doctor and whenever he has night shifts I watch your video to put myself in his shoes and live what he is probably going through! Health care workers are truly superheroes! Thank you so much for everything you do and the sacrifices you have made to help others!
I’m so happy she did a follow-up on that patient I was so worry about in her last video!!♥️ so happy to hear she is doing fine🙏🙏♥️
I just wanted to take a moment and say I really love your videos. They are very educational and I love seeing things from your perspective as a medical resident. It's inspiring to me.
So delighted and impressed with the coverage of Myxedema Coma
Such an
Important condition
So in need of recognition
Such an excellent video presentation
i had a bad experience with a doctor when i was really young, so i have always hated doctors... but i can honestly say that i would trust you with my life! you were seriously made for this career... you are amazing!
Medical workers should be appreciated all the time, now more than ever
