I've been a NICU nurse at a major Boston teaching hospital since 1994 and I absolutely cannot say enough about the wonderful opportunities that I have had to be a part of some of the most important moments babies' and their families' lives. Being a NICU nurse is truly an amazing experience! I am also a member of NANN, which is a great professional organization. However, I do have to say that I'm disappointed that this video features only one man who is a nurse, and no nurses of color. I also am wondering why NANN thought it was important to get commentary from an MD on what it is to be a NICU RN. Finally, I have an issue with the end statement about NICU nursing: "It's more than being 'just a nurse'". ALL nurses are important and vital to the health of our loved ones. I am grateful and impressed with the nursing care that my elderly parents are getting when they are hospitalized in the CCU and the Med-Surg floors at our Boston hospitals. With all the gadgets and equipment and technology and professional knowledge, skills and team work - how did a man who neither knew how to read and write at the time of his prophethood, *know* such a thing?
