I’m getting to an age where “working a job” to do necessary life-things is --well, I know it’s not what rich people do. Eu ganhei um número de CPF. The Boston Consulate has been revamped: it’s way more comfortable for both users and employees now. They were always nice to me there though, even before. I have visited Brazil 15-20 times, so far (1995-2023). I've spent most of my time in Belo Horizonte, never having once felt unsafe. I have been to Rio many times, Salvador, Fortaleza, Recife... I never felt unsafe in any of those places either. Personal security is mostly a matter of awareness, and one can reduce risk by avoiding certain neighborhoods at certain times. This is true for all large cities across the globe, probably. But avoiding entire cities or countries the way you suggest to avoid Brazil is nothing less than BS. Don't get me wrong, crime happens; pretty much like it does everywhere else?
The climate in Brazil varies greatly (as it is larger than the continental USA) - I'm sorry you are so frail. Yes, it is wise to pay attention to trending weather, but come on.
Your examples (and pronunciation, sorry) suggest you have either never been to Brazil, or have very limited exposure in such a vast country. The first few minutes of this video are nothing less than a hit piece.

And you think that this can be compared to people that live in Brazil since when they were born? I'm brazilian and I live in Europe now, I can confirm that you don't know what you are talking about. Did people jump walls into your home once? In Brazil we have walls surrounding our houses for a reason... Mine has been invaded at least 3 times at night, criminals jump house's walls to steal car's radio, bycicles etc... But and if they encounter someone during this proccess? Maybe your wife in a pijama? Do you think they will just wave at her and jump back into the streets? Also, I got robbed 2 times with people pointing a gun at my face, do you think your experience is the real brazilian experience? And I didn't even live in the most dangerous places in Brazil, my city and state are much more safer than São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Minas Gerais etc...

    • @jamesjones-wv9ik
      @jamesjones-wv9ik 8 місяців тому +4

No, my experience does not compare! But I think my exp is more than a casual tourist, and part of my point was that the video maker seemed at most a casual tourist (possibly visited once or twice, or maybe not at all). I typically stay a month with my in-laws; it is not a pampered part of the city. Also, I have been well advised on more-safe/less-safe places, and I'm not often alone. I know my exp, not yours. You know yours, not mine. I'm sorry you've had so many bad experiences.

Not true. Personal sense of safety is also a matter of speaking the language well and getting the real news in newspapers, TV, with people around you, etc.If you don't hear or get to know about the facts that are happening around, of course the sense of safety will be different. I'm brazilian and my brazilian friends, from Minas, think that Belo Horizonte is more dangerous than Rio and São Paulo. Things are not exactly as you are saying. We are from here, we know the history and we hear and see things and have more access to informations than those who are from abroad. We have been exposed to this context for longer than those who come, stay and visit. Longer exposure to a place or situation, longer knowledge and more experience.

Brazil don't have subpar health care at all if you can pay your health insurance to use private hospitals, which is CHEAP compared to USA. The main problem of Brazil is that there are violence indeed, but mainly in poor neighbourhoods and Favelas, and Favelas are not 1% of the country, the majority of brazilians never went to a Favela. But yes, you can get your goods and phone stolen if you walk alone in not touristc places especially at night. So if someone is moving to Brazil, you should live inside a medium class or high class neighbourhood and travel to touristic places only, which it is a lot of places.

With Bolsonaro, crime rates fell a lot, there were many major improvements in infrastructure, many new laws to protect women, everyone had many rights and received a lot of money every month, poverty fell like never before, there were major improvements in education and health and so many achievements that the Brazilian people have never experienced in their lives. With the dirty government of the thief Lula, everything was destroyed and Brazil is becoming a communist country, because Lula is a dictator.

There was a time when my colleague didn't return money I lent, and when I asked them about it, they got angry. What's worse is that many criminals use their money to buy drugs. I've heard of a case where an elderly man lost all his belongings, including documents, because of a robbery and is now living on the street.

Leaving the center and rich zones all the streets are dominated by gangs and mismanaging from head states. High taxes and fees with salaries extremely low. The majority plp have to choice to buy food or to pay rent. check it out the map and you will see how favela (slums/poverty) dominates the most part of cities. Im Brazilian 32 yr old and throughout my life I've lived in every region of the country, i actually agree with most of what was said in the video and ill say more, no matter how many upsides you manage to find around living here NOTHING compensates for the violence and the constant fear of being robbed when walking LITERALLY ANYWHERE open. I have some friends and family that have been robbed more than 5 times each at gunpoint and we all live in very safe neighborhoods, even in our own houses we fear break ins with us still inside, all houses around have tall walls with barbed wire, cameras and security system and still we hear about break ins all the time. In the first house of my neighborhood in Brasilia(capital) lives a couple of cops, the man is a police chief in the civilian police force and the woman is a policeman at the military force, THEIR HOUSE HAS BEEN ROBBED FOUR TIMES WTF, one time they were inside and didnt notice the robbers stealing stuff downstairs
Brazilians themselves don't want to live in Brazil, every single one that manages to get money or a good career flees as fast as they can to anywhere, and i do mean anywhere, safer than here, the ONLY metric is SAFETY when choosing somewhere else to live. The most common destination for brazilians ascending in economy is to move to Canada. My grandma was a citizen born, raised and lived 85 years in Rio de Janeiro and she used to tell us to NOT visit her because Rio was constantly in war, my uncle in another place of Rio tells me currently that almost every week he hears the sound of rifles being fired two streets down at nightly hours.
One of the reasons that robbers walk around so freely is because gunfire weapons are prohibited in brazil, 99% of the population do not have access to them but in the ground market you can buy a pistol for literally 100 dollars, I've been there, i was offered one, the population is completely harmless to robbers. The judicial system is very lenient towards break ins in houses, in the very few cases they are caught they spend like 4 months in jail IF THEY EVEN GO TO JAIL and that's for the ones found carrying guns while breaking in. My cousin is a 37 yr old woman that lives in Fortaleza Ceará, she has been robbed at gunpoint in her car while waiting on a red light in the middle of the street 6 times, it always happens the same way, a motorcycle stops by the driver side with 2 men, one driving and one armed, both using helmets, the image of two men in a motorcycle is a picture of terror in Brasil and every single brasilian not matter where they are from knows it simply because thats the most frequent image in the news.
To any other brazilian that disagrees with me and whiling to be a keyboard warrior ill say F** YOU, your opinion doesn't matter because you cant change reality, YOUR reality doesn't change the reality of the WHOLE COUNTRY and my notifications for replies are disabled, STOP BEING A NATIONALIST CHILL YOU FKN DUMBASS, if it didnt happen around you it does NOT mean it doesnt happen fkn every day fkn everywhere

A lot of citys in Brasil are dangerus like all the capitals in the north states but citys like Florianópolis (south) have a good quality of live, the IDH is 0,847 not far away form Finland IDH (0,871). The "Floripa" city have amazing beachs, increrable people, great wether, a very good security and a cheap cost of life for someone who receive your payment in US dollars or Euros. SUS isn't perfect but is better to have the oportunity to have a free helth care help than pay 1,500$ for an anbulance like in the US. So... this is what comes of making faceless videos from archive footage and things that chat GPT told you to say.
When you copy things from Wiki you really should try not to alter them. Wiki says "Brazil has the highest number of intentional homicides in the world", not "international homicides", what does that even mean?
This data is only until 2008 and is considering absolute numbers. Its ranking as a percentage of the population puts it at number 16 in the world. You also have to consider that the vast majority of these crimes affect young poor males involved in the drug trade.
The bit about the weather is just sad. If you don't realize that tropical countries have a lot of sun then you really shouldn't be allowed out on your own, let alone move to Brazil.
I do like the bit in your description that says "Subscribe for more unbelievable travel destinations and tips", because this drivel is certainly unbelievable.

What a trash thumbnail. Those 3 gang members are not from Brazil, none of those tattoos are seem in the country. Yes, BR has 2 big gangs mainly on Rio, SP and northern states, with a little presence everywhere, quite similar to the US. That ex president on the right was the last one, which sadly was one of the least bad leaders here. Every single president was close to useless or criminals and the country's judges now have way too much poser, just like in the US. Playing the people against each other while politicians steal and are responsible to all the chaos.
That being said, in most countries is quite simple to find your favorite state: If you are a "hands on" hard worker, go to states where agricultural is more common, (Brazil would be the Central and South states), if you are more focused on night lifestyle or make your living with media/marketing, you will probably prefer the economical capital or the capital itself (in Brazil those will be more on the Southeast states like Sao Paulo, Rio etc).

This video presents a concerning narrative by selectively highlighting certain truths while significantly exaggerating negative aspects. It's troubling to witness a portrayal that seemingly suggests superiority based on racial demographics, labeling southern cities with predominantly white and European populations as superior, while characterizing those in the north, with more native and black communities, as uncivilized and perilous. In truth, every region harbors both positive and negative aspects, and to generalize based on race is not only inaccurate but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes. Let's strive for a more nuanced understanding that acknowledges the diversity and complexities within communities across the country.

Dude, I'm from Brazil, from São Paulo (city) and things here are not exactly as you are depicting. Some corrections: São Paulo city is not safe - the country side of the state is definetely not safe also, it will vary from place to place, but it is not europe. I wouldn't call a place where you need eletric fences around your house a safe place. You can easily find price tags around the products (it is not a surprise as you mentioned).
I would add to your content: the public university system that we have - which is pretty good and "free". Also add the amount of fruits and vegetables that can be found here and are accessible. It is easy to make friends in Brazil and people are generally warmly welcoming foreigners. Brazil has many hiden places and can have different scenarios around: such as beautiful moutains (Minas Gerais) as beautiful beaches (the list is a non-ending one). Fried snacks are super tasty here, as coxinha, pastel and risolis.
But Brazil is not a cheap place as people think. Products can be extremely expensive in supermarkets (prefer open markets).
But you did a good research, that can not be denied. For a non-resident and non-native, you did great, actually.

What the hell have I just watched - the hat country doesn’t have its flaws but straight up saying why you should ‘Never’ move here is pure BS. Don’t expect a sub and do better with your content. Love to Brazil from Ireland!

First of all where or How did he get his 95 % number ? 😮😮
He says Brasil has 27 states, but he barely visits 3 or 4 states.
Each state or city has strength and weakness.
Depending on your profile, ambitions, needs, lifestyle, and goals, some states or cities may be a good fit.
It is mandatory to look for a profile of expats before making false assumptions.
For example, a foreign student may move permanently in New York and IT professional move silicon Valley in San Fransico or retired coupe may move to Florida or young family move North Carolina,......
Now use the same logic for Maceio,San Luis,Manaus,Belem,Rio de Janeiro,Florianapolis,Bahia,.....
Furthermore, most people who returning US,Canada,Europe.are depressand sad to leave Brasil.
Now, let talk about safety .
It is common knowledge safety is a big issue in the USA ,go live Iin LA or Chiraq(chicago).
    The criminality is issue USA,London,France.
Do you think the USA or Europe is safe?
What about the corruption ,wickedness ,criminality of North America , and the European government?
Everyone understands the Euro-Atlantist colonial power , and the socioeconomic system is on the verge of total collapse.
And the global south will rise up.
No one pretend Brasil is perfect .
You must accept the trade-off (good and bad).
I lived in Brasil for almost 3 years, and I missed it . I will return and stay permanently as soon as possible.
As usual, you need do your homework then a transition period before you move permanently to another country.

I wonder if things were being explained to you in your first language. If you visited clean, orderly, clinics and medical professionals, you were visiting private practices that take payment from patients. The public hospitals: I’ll say this: you can get life-saving medical care for free. They’re staffed with trained, intelligent, capable & caring doctors. But if a moderately wealthy American, Canadian, or Australian went to one of the busy public hospitals in a city in Brazil, I can imagine them getting fearful and upset. It’s not bright-shiny-perfect white everywhere. They’re working hard to at least TRY to meet a big need. If you’re squeamish about seeing other people’s injuries, if you never had to lose some medical privacy because of the facility not having space for you to be alone, if it rattles you to see a woman going into labor while waiting in line next to a geriatric fall-down to the left of you & a mortorcycle injury to your right… that’s the public hospital. Bless them and thank you for yourservice, i say. Although ethically on the side of true human decency and love-thy-neighbor, the public portals to med care are very crowded and they look a bit rough. The fancier places are not free. They are for fancy people. The only exceptions are when the public hospital needs to send you for special testing to a private clinic that has necessary equipment (and the hospital doesn’t have it).

Bro what is this video even trying to say? Half of it was about how affordable beach houses are and the other half is describing literally thousands of places around the world...I'm from the states and one of the leading causes of bankruptcy is health expenses. The medical skill is also not amazing in every state or even every town. You can get terrible health care and still pay a ton of money here. Also, why even mention the cultural shock and distance in a video like this? That is true in any scenario of a person moving from one country to another - it's truly all relative. Maybe the only relevant data you shared is homicides, but that also happens everywhere and is usually gang-related. Curious how much of that is associated toward innocent bystanders? Again, that happens here in the states. Three people murdered in San Francisco in the last month and I actually knew one of them. But I still love this city. This video is misleading and very subjective in my opinion.

Keep in mind that video exalts the negatives points from Brazil, I'm brazilian and I agree with almost of them. But if I make a video about the negative side of other country like US ,CA or even EU. it won't treat the life as it if. So, take a note of that negatives side and go to Brazil or other country then see what is it true for your life living there.

This video is quite biased and ignorant. There are 5.5k cities in Brazil, you have snow and very hot climate, violent big cities and suburbs and very safe ones. Buying a house there is a very good deal, specially for the prices.

Funny to see you illustrate how safe Sao Paulo is, with images of Praça da Sé which must be one of the most dangerous area, where any Paulista will tell you not to go. I have been there with a group and it is jaw dropping. All my friends in Sao Paulo have been mugged once or twice this year, so calling it safe is quite misleading.

Exactly. We, from São Paulo, advice people to not go to Praça da Sé, Luz, República, etc. Not safe at all. I keep myself extremely alert there if I have to go around - and consider that I had worked there once as well.

It is impressive that Euro-American propaganda always portrays Brazil in a pejorative way. But in relation to Portugal, it is like a Switzerland, and this is proven in Western rankings (created by considered nationalities) such as the Country Similarity Index, where it is similar to Spain, Italy, and France, and Brazil is similar to Colombia, Uruguay, and Venezuela (lol). In other words, they make it clear that it is an underdeveloped country compared to Portugal, which, for the geopolitical West, is developed, according to the socioeconomic indices they produce, also with the aim of privileging their own (in this case, Portugal would not be left out, as it is in Western Europe) and without any empathy for exploited countries like Brazil, where they ignore and do not help it to recover and at least reach where its former colonizer has reached: in the realm of the considered developed (but that would obviously be asking too much from a people who do not care about anything but themselves and who also create socioeconomic indices to defend their own people).
Brazilians need a lot of strength, resilience, health (including better mental health), intelligence, energy, and all the qualities in the world, or at least half of them, to face these powerful countries. After all, just as Brazil itself is not for amateurs, the world is not either.

For every country you move you must accept the trade off ( good and bad) It depend what you looking for and which city you move . Every cities have a different reality. I find funny people dont realize the so called first world countries (USA, Canada , European nations) are on verge of total collapse and soon they be far worse than Brasil and African countries.
