Is softer footage better? I hope this one is helpful! Also, yes I took the opportunity for a rare self-promotion 😂 but this is how I can afford the time to make helpful videos!
not sure if you bought fake 8? but the grain is real Super 8 grain scanned in 4k. not sure what choosing noise level is? feel free to email for support if you bought the product and are confused about your results!
Honestly, your Fake8 Film Lab is so good you might consider making a 16 and 35 version, not based on any specific stock, but just your subjective aesthetic take on both, and put it up against the current crop of products like Dehancer, which to my eye looks like ugly crusty muddy ass, and Video Village Filmbox, which to my eye looks FANTASTIC for Vision3, but Vision3 is not that great a stock to begin with, so that's not saying much. If I were to improvise it using your original Fake8 powergrade, I'd just scale down the halation by half for 16, and then again by half for 35, and same with the gaussian blur etc. But obviously I think you could do something more involved, and justify the release of an additional product. Take a completely subjective stab at some of the old iconic Eastman stocks ! Do us all a favor and take all of Dehancer's market share, they've ruined enough people's footage already. Regardless, keep up the stellar work !
well, I think I know what you mean, though I'm not exactly sure. Easiest way to the most "correct-ist" skin tones would be nailing accurate exposure and white balance in camera. Then, if recording Log you would want to use the manufacturer technical conversion LUT or Davinci Resolve's Color Space Transform tool.
@@johnstamw Thank you very much! actually I have seen that in some videos they are quite "natural/real"…i think in the end I continue to be interested in this camera is because I prefer the super 35 look.. in fact even for work I never used full frame in video .. I think I got conditioned on the full frame
On your website, you mention for Fake 8, it’s best to shoot at 24fps at 1/40 SS. If I have old footage at, say, 60fps at 1/120, would the Fake 8 be able to make it look “vintage”? Or would it still look too digital?
Hello John! Been watching all your videos, you really helped me to decide to buy Xh2s, thank you so much. I would like to ask you one question. I have the M1 MacBook Pro released back in 2020. Do you think I can edit 4k 60p H265 files or the best possible video codec available in Xh2s on a 10 min long wedding videos timeline ? Really appreciate your time to answer this. Thanks so much in advance.
Hello! That's very exciting! Thanks for the kind words. I do think you'll be able to accomplish most editing tasks except perhaps very intensive edits where it may need help with Davinci's tools, but I think it should work well. I would also say that 6.2k might struggle a bit, as it does in my experience, but I only use it for some projects.
I cringe so much from IT’S TOO SHARP whining from “sony embargo promotion UA-camrs”. Like bruh first they say full frame is better in lighting and resolution and then cry because apsc is sharper than cameras twice the price with g master lenses. Like just use vaseline lmao

i’d like to add that my eyes see the real world at 0.55 blur radius and it’s glorious ✨
can you give us a tutorial on how to achieve "film blur vision" on our eyeballs?
😂😂
This & using the Mid/Detail slider really help. Great job. 👏👏👏👏
yeah mid detail also helps for sure
Looove how it looks! Great content ✨
Thanks for taking the time to show us that.
just for you my man!
Golden integration of your Luts 👌👌👌
thanks for the encouragement mark!
Great vid
thanks!
Lower the setting "MD = -10 or -20" to get softer image for people skin (It only affect mid tone not the whole image)
yep, that's especially good for skin! but usually this complaint for folks is "whole image" oriented at least from the conversations I've had.
@@johnstamw likely from sony fan boys i bet
amount of grain in super 8 grade is huge . And there is no option to choose noise level.... only to turn off noise layer node

16mm you want huh? Not much to say about that yet🤫 but WOW also thank you for the tremendous compliment
Can you share if those LUTs are for classic chrome or only Flog? I follow you a lot but I don’t shoot Flog.
I have LUTs for both! Check out my website for details!
do you think that is easy to get the correct skin tone and colours ? in case I 'd like to get the correct colour and not the "fuji look" ?

You can always still use it without the “ideal” settings!
