Damn I’m a huge Gordon Ryan fan but he revealed himself here; the shy insecure kid who excels at one thing but is terribly socially awkward in every other aspect. Gordon is a master at what he does, started as a teenager and I have a lot of respect for him. That also means he has not spent much time outside of his bubble of jiu jitsu gyms and internet shit talking. I wonder if steroids also puff up a false sense of bravado, that veneer of confidence comes off different in person

Gordon Ryan is a man baby, has "Respect everyone" tattooed on him but constantly makes posts about how disgusting, vile and lazy homeless people are. Kid has been lucky to be born able bodied in the US to a family that let him train full time and not work.

Trash talking is one method of doing that, another method is just fighting hard and letting your skill and technique speak for itself. You could say Gordon is a perfect marriage of both of these aspects. While I'm personally not a fan of him as a personality, doesn't mean I'm a hater (like that childs comment earlier).

As a brazilian i tell you Gordon is doing it all wrong... he is the best BJJ fighter right now, he could just be a humble regular guy and become a fan favourite in Brazil, just say one or two good things about brazil and brazilian will love him, we are this easy to love. Also the humble approach when you are the best is very marketable in US too, you could become a sponsor dream, just like GSP... Now he went the heel route, in brazil he will be forever hated just because most people don't speak english and when what he says is translated to portuguese without context it looks like he is a total piece of shit. Now he could be a Conor Macgregor or Chael Sonnen and adopt this villain route, but he is not "streetwise" enough for that, he is slow with the words and not edgy enough, in the end he looks like a little insecure guy. Iam a huge fan of Gordon Ryan but I totally agree on the things Vagner says. If Gordon can show that he would be so much better and everything will fall his way.

Gordon maybe the P4P guy in BJJ right now, but Vagner is also a fine BJJ practitioner and seems to be better in terms of handling himself when interacting with people compared to Gordon, imho.

I just went back and watched one of their matches. Not sure if it's their first one and I'm not really attached to either one of them. But every time Vagner gets frustrated in the match he open palm pushes Gordon right in the face. Totally possible to catch heel of the hand in the eye. Wouldn't call it a direct eye poke, but still can feel like one.
