    Hi there, what are your thoughts on F or Radial for a recurring hamstring injury, generally more mid belly than insertional. Thanks for your help!

    Would the radial or focus works to repair tissues on knee joint when your bone on bone already and your doctor recommend a knee surgery to fix the problem?

      Focused shockwave is what I used to treat knee arthritis in practice. Focused allows you treat over the boney structures and the tendons around the knee.

      @@drtoddsullivanI just saw some videos where other doctors/chiropractors/physical therapist performed abdominal shockwave therapy for adhesions. They stated this area was the “easiest” to work on opposed to rest of the body. Can I hear your opinion? & why you wouldn’t recommend it?

    Thanks for showing us the difference between the two devices. Would the focused shockwave feel like a TENS unit pulse?

    • @drtoddsullivan
      @drtoddsullivan  10 місяців тому +1

      Not really a tens unit feels like a tingling buzzing sensation where a focused shockwave feels like a deep dull ache when you apply to an injured area.

    If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I rather just stick to the percussion gun massager😮

      No. Percussion only damages you even more. I worked for a physical therapist and did years worth of research before they became popular or even reported on UA-cam. You’ll get much more out of ultrasound therapy as well than percussion. Might want to look into it

    what is recommended for Insertational Achillies Tendonitis?
    i was reading that people who have clotting issues and who are on blood thinner should not get SWT done. could you elobrate on this pls?, thanks.

    • @drtoddsullivan
      @drtoddsullivan  7 місяців тому +1

      I would recommend focused shockwave and used it on patients who are on blood thinners with no problem. I would avoid radial shockwave because the mechanism of how the shockwave is generated can cause more trauma to superficial tissues and bruising. Focused shockwave doesn’t cause bruising.

      @@drtoddsullivan How is both radial and focused shockwave therapy efficacy in terms of pain relief, ROM and swelling ? suppose we don't have focused SW here in our country, do you recommend Radial SW?
      I have inseratational Achilles tendonnitis which seems to be causing a lot pain, even after medications the pain and swelling seems to be coming back. Almost 6months now.
      I am on blood thinner ( rivaroxaban) for clotting issue ( idopathic, un provoked)

      @@drtoddsullivan in terms of pain relief, swelling and ROM which of these two modalities would be most effective ?
      I have inseratational Achilles tendonnitis for like five months now and medicines don't seem to help, neither does loading exercise; the pain and swelling keeps coming back after Nsaid and Prednisolone are stopped.
      I am on bloodthinner (rivaroxaban 20mg) for clotting issue ( idopathich, unprovoked)
