Even though nu metal was originally for the kids who got beat up in high school, eventually the bullies started showing up at nu metal shows.
The thing is: some of the musicians in the Nu Metal scene showed that they had similar values to those same jocks who beat them and their audience in school, especially when it came to sex and gender relations. So ultimately the bullies felt very welcome in the scene.
@@VuotoPneumaNN Sadly, you're right.
Lol that’s EVERY genre that gets popular. The hardcore scene for example are probably the biggest bullies in music but started as a place for the outcast
Dubstep in a nutshell when bros frat boys came to the scene, especially when Skrillex made that type of dubstep so popular.
pornography and jacking off or masturbating
Everybody remembers Limp Bizkit. Nobody remembers Megadeth actually ending the festival, playing Peace Sells over what was essentially a left behind warzone.
Nobody even remembers the random kid who pointed the laser at Dave
@@RokuhachiSiraif there’s anything anybody remembers about Megadeth’s Woodstock 99 set, it’s the laser
Wasn't the peppers closing Woodstock 99 ? They play fire by Hendrix and all hell break loose. People give too much credit to Durst for the mayhem.
Nobody remembers candles being handed out during the Chilli Peppers set for 'Under the Bridge' and then starting a fire while the Peppers performed a cover of Jimi Hendrix's 'Fire'
@@smicrvFinally, somebody said it. You can hear the chili peppers looking out at the fires, contemplating if they should do it. Then Anthony says, "F yeah." They deserve a lot more credit for their part in the chaos.
At least they didn't hire the Hell's Angels to run security and nobody was stabbed to death by them.

Fred Durst: “break stuff.”

Also Crowd: Give me something to Break!
Nu Metal was not the reason the festival became a shitshow. The people who ran it are the ones to blame. There's been tons of other festivals with similar bands that didn't have things like this happen.
Very true. People wouldn’t have acted so destructive if they had all their basic festival needs taken care of
if nu metal was to blame, family values tour would be banned by the geneva convention
Fred Durst goes through life like I do in my,”let’s see what happens when I choose the mean/weird dialogue and quests” run through in RPG’s.
What makes Woodstock 99 chaos weirder is they had another Woodstock in 94 that was probably preparation for this one that went really well yet they fucked this one up big time.
The promoters tried to get Nirvana for that, but by then, Kurt had died.
Was as sure as I clicked the notification that it would be about Woodstock 99
You gotta admit, theirs something poetic about how Woodstock 99 ended. A festival meant to unite people through Peace and harmony. Ended with chaos and Anarchy........idk, something about society making us violent?
I like that interpretation haha.
But then again, with the douche bro types appealed to by bands like limp bizkit, how peaceful was it ever really gonna be?
@@exodusn2233the whole festival was disaster, it's not fault of the artists.
@@exodusn2233 if you watched the Trainwreck documentary on Netflix, you'll see that a former junior staff member at the festival being interviewed suggesting to his superiors that they shouldn't sign these nu-metal bands to play Woodstock because their target audience and music were the total opposite of the peace and love of the original Woodstock, and all his superiors just looked at him like the junior staff should not have opened his mouth. So the festival organisers were to blame. The bands were hired to perform for the crowd, that's it. Period. As an ambulance staff at the festival said in the interview for the Trainwreck documentary, 'It's like blaming a bear for being a bear.' Because hippies are idiots and thats how real anarchism plays out in real life
The organisation of Woodstock '99 could be described as 'dehydrated' from the very beginning... I'm blown away by how many comments on all related videos still just take the piss out of Fred Durst 😂
RHCP were wild for handing out candles to the rioting crowd and expecting them to calm down..

Fred Durst is all the negative stereotypes about people in one person
You dont know shit little boy, best back the fuck on up....
Fred Durst is one person
One of the worst things you can do at an event is put up scarcely placed water fountains/dispensers. I went to a football match recently and lost 30 mins of time waiting for water. I tried to buy some but they dont take cash. Water is a necessity dont put it up for extreme prices and purposely limit the amount of free water there is so you can save money. If someone asks for a free water you should give it to them.
Yeah I watched the Trainwreck documentary on Netflix last year, one of the interviewees who attended the festival got trench mouth because the water from the dispensers eventually got contaminated with fecal runoff from the porta-potties
This is amazing stoned viewing. Please talk about the Rolling Stones festival where they hired the hell's angels
hey man, i think when you took a little moment to mention how you didn’t feel that this channel is serious enough for you to get into the details of the SA cases you did something really good.
you actually take this matter seriously. thank you for that.
3:50 "dehydration due to lack of water"
Why else would you be dehydrated?
Do you think anyone in that crowd got any major percentage of their daily hydration through water?
@@starcrossedother idk man nu metal feels kind of adjacent to hard core, there's gotta be at least one straight-edge MF who only drinks water and thinks he's better than everyone because of it.
pissing too much of course
Considering how certain members of the crowd reacted you’d have thought the song was called “Rape Stuff.”
The whole festival was a disaster, and also the same thing happened at Korn set, why you not blame Korn for that?
if you watched the Trainwreck documentary on Netflix, you'll see that a former junior staff member at the festival being interviewed suggesting to his superiors that they shouldn't sign these nu-metal bands to play Woodstock because their target audience and music were the total opposite of the peace and love of the original Woodstock, and all his superiors just looked at him like the junior staff should not have opened his mouth. @@hatecubed I really don't understand OP's point. What was to be expected? Violent harmful behaviour? If that's so, then it is Limp Bizkit's fault.

A Zoomer cousin once asked me to describe Woodstock 99, and my answer? Project X on steroids, just switch rave music for nu metal.
my long time bass teacher told me how when rhcp played fire, as soon as they saw the fires being lot they just immediately sped up and started playing at a million miles an hour
Lol. The fires were going way before they started playing. They said fuck it and played it anyways. You can see the fires going about halfway thru there set.
I like how some of the Fred Durst wojaks that I’ve made have been used in your videos. I’ve been seeing some used in the nu metal video and now seeing this one on the thumbnail (sorta edited tho lol) is really cool. I like that. Cool video btw keep up the work
Gonna pound this hot dog flavored water and imagine i was there
Great video as always, Coolea
My favorite Detail about this is that the organizers saw all the Mayhem that went down before the Red Hot Chili Peppers AND HANDED OUT CANDLES AND MATCHES TO THE CROWD.
More that it was poorly organized than the durster
Limp Bizkit never gave instructions to tear shit apart. You must really hate them lol.
Jimi Hendrix didn't play Fire at Woodstock. That was The Monterey Pop Festival where he did that
He did play fire at woodstock. That clip in the video was from Monterey pop though.
@@codymazurek-simon9170 did he set his guitar on fire at the Woodstock set as well?

You can't blame Fred Durst, he came into this world as a reject after all.
i’ve already heard that story a hundred times but i’m still gonna watch this because i’m sure it’s funnier that the other videos ive watched
Mellow Out!
Its just one of those days where dont wanna wake up.
Woodstock '99 is what killed the festival. All chaos, everyone torn the stages piece by piece, there was both physical and sexual violence, and the sanitary/health issues became distressing, among the water bottles thrown on-stage. Degeneracy and absolute carnage was present throughout!
woodstock - called it! would kill to be able to go there
As a proud Limp Bizkit fan, I’d totally go there just to see them in their peak and surf on some plywood.
i was there at woodstock 19XX. it was great.
I think Fred durst saw how green days mud fight at Woodstock 1994 got them attention and would be remembered and wanted to top it
I would do just about anything to go back in time and go to Woodstock 99
I can't blame it on nu-metal because it didn't happen in their own tours
Can you do pantera?
Limp Bizkit and it’s consequences have been a disaster for the scene
What about the Chilli Peppers handling out candles and performing Jimi Hendrix 's 'Fire'? What about the overpriced water given out at the festival and you weren't allowed to bring in your own water? What about the scarcely placed water fountains at the festival? What about holding a festival over an airport tarmac during one of the hottest days of the month?
No it's not, you're just another person who blames Limp Bizkit and using them as a scapegoat for the disaster the whole Woodstock 99 was.
Lmao

The hippie era is over but nu metal was the final nail in the coffin for Woodstock

The lack of water is a problem of many festivals even today. Case in point, Let it Roll can go fuck themselves, they have one fucking water cistern and they confiscate water bottles on the way to stages. No water + m&ms is fucking nightmare.
They did it all for the nookie
Can't blame ICP for wrecking this show it was the wet fart of rap metal

6:00 look at them. Look at them. Are you looking ?
Now do a video about the indie/alternative rock of the begginings of the 00's(the strokes, interpol, the killers, yeah yeah yeahs, etc)
Indie rock started in the late seventies. I’ll have you know that one of my friends was in the first indie band, the Count Bishops. That said, you’ve made a good call on this one. I was involved with the scene around that too.

My brother attended Woodstock '99 and said the first two days were decent. It pisses him off that everyone says the whole festival was a disaster....

Coolea we all want the suicideboys video
There's a pretty good documentary on WS99. The one thing(that I'm aware of in this story) that turned this from "haha, funny social disobedience" to "wow, this is really fucked up". Was at the after show rave where a number of "people" raped an underage girl in the back of a van or ambulance. What a fuckin shitshow.
They partied like it was 1999. This could have been predicted if everyone in my generation wasn't wasted the entire decade

The mob had nothing do with limp bizkit or any other artist. The organizers greed is to blame. It was absolutely miserable there and people were just looking for a reason to lash out. Leaving wasn’t an easy option either. The infrastructure just wasn’t there to support this size of a crowd but corporate greed just smashed everyone in like cattle and got exactly what they deserved.

I have disagree about who's responsibility it actually was. I can't stand bands like limp bizkit or ICP, however, you made an excellent point...they have songs like, "break stuff" lol. Well, had the promotors literally put a single, solitary second into even looking into the type of acts they hired, wouldn't have happened. I mean they were so lazy they couldn't even read the back of a CD cover for song lists lol. Come on. When people decide to swim in shark infested waters with huge signs saying, "danger", instead of just looking to go to a pool to swim, we don't blame the sharks for being sharks. Even the people who have been attacked would tell us that lol. Its purely on the promotors for this concert and concept. They wanted to do as little as possible whilst milking as much as they could out of the name. It was a concert. Wasn't Woodstock lol. Its like buying a fake rolex.
They also gave out candles for a peace vigil for the Columbine victims.

free parties are good if you dont want commerce , however nowadays they play mostly tekno
@@1REDGOBLIN i do like tekno/acidcore/hardtrance as Party music a lot (actually produce those kinda styles myself), and yeah, home parties, raves in abandoned warehouses, woods or underneath a highway or something, are imo the most enjoyable.
For live/instrumental music i prefer smaller clubs, or smaller scale, more open/easy going festivals.
I’m getting tired of hearing about woodstock 99
The “deez” censor gag was funny the first few times but it became grating after awhile and very distracting. Otherwise amazing video, just my two cents
