There is an error in the lore. In Call of Duty 4 modern warfare and in the remaster. They are not US Marines but US Army Rangers, which is a completely different branch of the armed forces. I don't know why IW turned them into the Marine Corps in MW2.
Personally I count cod4 as the only cannon cod coz at the end everyone dies except soap meaning mw2 never happened, still a good game but cod4 is in my heart the real one
The Later Missions of Cod 4 are More Intense than even Mw2 and 3 to me. The Ultimatum Mission speech, All Ghilled Up, One Shot One Kill, Shock and Awe, All in( This Intro alone feels more intense than any Mission in Mw2 and 3 No Russian ( og and Reboot) Has Nothing on just the Mission's intro) , Intros are Better than any Mw2 and 3 Mission and more Intense
One problem that I always had with this was the fact that you know he mentions 30,000 troops. The problem though is I find it unlikely that all of them would’ve been marines. Mostly because currently there are only about roughly 180,000 marines give or take that are active duty with another 30,000 in various capacities of reserve. So unless pretty much every single reservist was called to action during this conflict, which if I recall correctly in the timeline of the game This event where you play as Paul Jackson was basically the equivalent of operation desert storm. I’m sure the majority of the casualties were marines, but there had to have been personnel from other branches, such as the army, navy, and of course, the Air Force. In fact it’s possible, even if a little unlikely that the pilots and crew chief of the night, Jackson is riding in when the new goes off are probably naval personnel. Although , I’m not entirely sure because you know there is an air wing equivalent in the Marine Corps. Either way, another thing that I’ve always wondered is why general Shepherd was still allowed to remain in the military. Usually if something like this were to happen, government basically look for somebody to blame. And chances are because he was apparently the overall commander he probably would’ve gotten thrown under the proverbial bus.

If they’re hornets, then it’s more than likely that they are either navy or marines because if I recall correctly, the F-18 is not flown by the Air Force.
The Nuke also Killed the Arabian Soldiers and Civilians who were in that City Too. Nest Teams and Seal Team 6( Weird Shepard doesn't mention them in mw2) also got Killed by the Nuke too

That’s just propaganda. There’s really no actual historical evidence that the Germans called the Marines “Devil Dogs.” That being said, Belleau Wood was a very important battle for the Corps. In France, it’s literally called Bois de la Brigade de Marine; the Wood of the Marine Brigade.

i think randomly generating them allows you to feel the way any soldier would remember it, the friends are named clearly but the comrades they wouldn't remember them much at all, this also includes important people hated or not they would still be remembered more clearly then anyone else, it also could be people who remember certain characters that are involved depending on the context, since there have been times where people were awarded with medals after they died

The entire unit is special forces, they're all green berets. Now a lot of times video games have the main character addressed by some generic name like "devil dog" or "marine" or "spartan", but the whole point of that is to NOT have the character addressed by a unique name, and help the player identify/self insert with the character. In real life, Squads might have their own internal informal calls signs/nick names for squad comms, but if your squad nicknames you "devil dog" as a term reserved to refer to you and only you, you're either master chief/doomslayer levels of badass and probably have some serious combat medals to the point where you're seen as the epitome of a marine, or you're the most boot boot to ever boot, and they're making fun of you and probably hate you.
A few things, the Blackhawk is the UH-60. Not the UH-1. The UH-1 would be a Huey or venom but there are none in this game. Also, it was also strange to me how they use blackhawks (an army helicopter) on an amphibious operation. They could’ve used UH-1N SuperHueys or MH-60 Seahawks but they didnt. I’d like to add that the 30,000 military members were likely not all Marines. A lot were probably Army, and a lot of sailors too. Edit: “Devil Dog” is the nickname for any US Marine.

Never forget how compelling the original story was. Shepherd was not evil. He was devastated. He wanted Makarovs head by any means. And he needed his marines replaced. I’m sure he got his men, price made certain there would be no shortage of Americans willing to fight for their country again after New York.
I remember hearing the uniquely terrified voice of the Cobra Pilot as a 11/12 year old kid when this game was new but simply thinking she was scared of being killed. Now with a more adult understanding, and reading news stories and wikipedia articles of how the bad guys treat women in that part of the world, I now know why she was so uniquely terrified of being apprehended by the OpFor.
This is what the MW reboot needed in the campaign; a traumatizing shocker that changes every character so they’re not the same person. While it would’ve been awesome, it doesn’t have to be a nuke that does this.

Joint Chiefs and joint command. The Marines Jackson is attached to is part of a larger task force you as the player might not have seen in the game. A regular MEU that took part of Al-Asad consists of roughly 2500 Marines, so I'm positive other units from the Army, Air Force, and possibly even other foreign forces such as the British, Australians, etc were a part of the 30k men who partook in the battle. Think of 03 Iraq during the invasion.
I was under 2nd MARDIV when I was down at the border, and I'm Army. Its quite common that other branches are under control if a certain Branch controls or runs that AO. Or if its a large scale invasion (like Iraq), it will primarily the Army calling the shots, due to them being the prime ground fighting force.
In fact, I kept him alive throughout the entire mission and I didn't know it was an in-game achievement (I did it because I was afraid that if I lost my teammates I would be left alone to face hordes of enemies)
We forget a little too quickly the civilians who lived in this city and who suffered the same fate as the people of Nagasaki. There would be hundreds of thousands of losses and I'm not talking about the thousands of enemy fighters who defended the areas which did not have the most joyful fate.

I noticed that in OG Version of CoD 4, Vasquez looks like he has a buff body and Griggs is a bit skinny, but in Remastered, Vasquez looks a bit skinny and Griggs looks buffer.
The mission where you rescue the tank crew was always so funny to me, because on the harder difficulties dozens of randomly generated marines die on the way there. What gets me is during the mission briefing you can see that tank has infantry support when the mission starts, so even though the tank was inoperable the crew could have ditched and retreated. Also when you finally get to the tank the infantry support is nowhere to be seen so presumably they all died defending it instead of just making the crew scuttle the tank. 10/10 mission would play again.
a good soldier never leaves em behind. shepherd is not what people think of him. he's someone i rather stand with. his hatred his bitter. most importantly his loyalty.
Realistically, since General Shepard is a three star in the US Army. The forces being deployed in the game, should have been Army Rangers/ Regular Army. Would make more chronological sense. Not sure why a General of the Army is in command of Marines.
In cod4 in Shock and Awe I feel he was a Higher Rank than Army General because Mw2 Shepard couldn't control the Navy but Cod 4 Shepard has Control of the Entire Operation

What do I mean is like where major Alex shows us ssgt Griggs in the remastered he was just standing when he was talking, while in the original ssgt Griggs had unique animation and more character depth. US marines can reenlist to other branches, skip boot camp, and keep a relatively similar rank, so not completely unrealistic
I was under 2nd MARDIV when I was down at the border, and I'm Army. Its quite common that other branches are under control if a certain Branch controls or runs that AO. Or if its a large scale invasion (like Iraq), it will primarily the Army calling the shots, due to them being the prime ground fighting force.
That's how it works in the military, even including NATO allies under other commanders from other countries.
Cod 4 Shepard I think was a Higher Rank than Army General. I think he was a 4 star General before he was Demoted

Keeping Massey alive during Charlie Dont surf is still a greater achievement for me than graduating from architecture school.
In fact, I kept him alive throughout the entire mission and I didn't know it was an in-game achievement (I did it because I was afraid that if I lost my teammates I would be left alone to face hordes of enemies)
We forget a little too quickly the civilians who lived in this city and who suffered the same fate as the people of Nagasaki. There would be hundreds of thousands of losses and I'm not talking about the thousands of enemy fighters who defended the areas which did not have the most joyful fate.
The city was mostly evacuated, but as Fallujah has shown, there's plenty of people that won't leave their homes no matter what happens.

I noticed that in OG Version of CoD 4, Vasquez looks like he has a buff body and Griggs is a bit skinny, but in Remastered, Vasquez looks a bit skinny and Griggs looks buffer.

From this video's Point of view, Gen Shepherd should have been made the good guy in the entire game. Not a villain. I hate that he was made a villain.

The mission where you rescue the tank crew was always so funny to me, because on the harder difficulties dozens of randomly generated marines die on the way there. What gets me is during the mission briefing you can see that tank has infantry support when the mission starts, so even though the tank was inoperable the crew could have ditched and retreated. Also when you finally get to the tank the infantry support is nowhere to be seen so presumably they all died defending it instead of just making the crew scuttle the tank. 10/10 mission would play again.
Oh wait in the remaster it looks like the infantry support actually survives, but I swear they werent there in the original.
a good soldier never leaves em behind. shepherd is not what people think of him. he's someone i rather stand with. his hatred his bitter. most importantly his loyalty.
Realistically, since General Shepard is a three star in the US Army. The forces being deployed in the game, should have been Army Rangers/ Regular Army. Would make more chronological sense. Not sure why a General of the Army is in command of Marines.

In cod4 in Shock and Awe I feel he was a Higher Rank than Army General because Mw2 Shepard couldn't control the Navy but Cod 4 Shepard has Control of the Entire Operation
25:43 you see those cinder blocks, they where used in the original cod4 and was used in mw3 all that time later. (I made csgo maps and made one based on the usmc missions in cod so I spent hours importing and looking at cod4 textures that if u showed me one I could tell you the name)
Devil Dog is the nickname of the USMC that they got at Belleau Wood in WW1 due to how fiercely and ferociously they fought.
OG COD was truly a masterpiece. I wish we could've gotten some more storry centric scenes or so. But OG COD was so good.

I see a thingy where the original cod 4 mw had more animation then the remastered.
What do I mean is like where major Alex shows us ssgt Griggs in the remastered he was just standing when he was talking, while in the original ssgt Griggs had unique animation and more character depth. Maybe is just me but the remastered had better graphics and other better stuff but in the original It had more... realistic? Idk I just type all of this
