Thanks for the more detailed review! 100 cooks is a great milestone! I had been going back and forth on one of these for months. All the early negative reviews scared me, but your videos showed that the pit is good. I have had pellet feeding/bridging issues with my other pellet grills and I have had small fires. Also have had auger jams and resets out of the blue. I honestly believe that the SmokeFire “problems” were blown way out of proportion, mainly because of a few UA-camrs with large followings as well as Weber seemingly being held to a higher standard. So in the I said screw it - ordered one and it’ll be here Friday. Looking forward to enjoying my new pit. Thanks again!
You will love it. Just keep it clean. I clean mine every 3 to 5 cooks like I do all my grill. And yes youtubers with large followings got there pit for free. Give thus pit a bad wrap. Some of the youtubers I watch know nothing about bbq pits. Just good editing skills
Have Ex6 since the week they originally came out . It has been running with no problems since the day I bought it . Like you I would put this pit up with any other pit on the market !!!
Thank you for your videos! Very informative! I was wondering if you had a link for the thermometer that you installed on this weber grill so you can see the internal temperature? I sure do like that big dial indicator. Thank you.
I will soon be receiving a brand new SmokeFire EX4 as a retirement gift. Your videos have been tremendously helpful. I'm definitely a grilling/smoking newbie and I like to do my research before I get started. From a technical point of view (feed system), does it matter which pellets I use? Weber pushes Weber pellets. Pit Boss pellets are a lot cheaper for me, but I don't want to worry about them clogging up the feed system or something. I can't wait to try out some of your recipes, especially the reverse sear ribeye. Yum and thanks again for providing detailed and useful information.
I never tried weber pellets. they do not sell them in my area. ,, lumber jack pellet work great, i had no problems with pit boss. if you can get lumber jack i use them about 10 bucks a bag.. thank you i appreciate ya
For fattier cooks like a pork shoulder or brisket do you put a tray under? Or do you let it hit the flavorizer bars? Flare up would scare me with the design when cooking those longer cooks
Keeping it real and honest Scotty! The first batch of Smokefires gave it a bad name. I’m glad the kinks were smoothed out and you really like it. I’m a big Weber kettle fan, but when I get a pellet smoker this is the one I’ll get. Weber would be wise to listen to your improvements about the pellet drop location and the 3 vents placement. Foiling the two vents is a good hack. Do you ever have to push the pellets down while you’re cooking?

Awesome review thanks!!
Thanks appreciate it.
Another great video Scotty! Do you empty unused pellets after each cook? I've heard/read moisture/humidity is bad for "open" pellets.
No not here in Wisconsin.. I only empty when I am changing flavors.
Good review Scotty
Thanks

I use apan or tray. Flaviorizer bars I use only when I cook chicken. Steaks. Burgers.

So beautiful 😊
Thanks. I been working out. Lol
Hey Scotty! This vid is cool! Say hi to Noah! Liz
Thanks. I will tell noah hi for you.
Do you still have the Smokefire? Still happy with it?
yes i do. i love it. so far no problems..
I heard those flavorizer bars rust out.
They don't really rust out. Hot heat damages all metal, causing them to rust. They last about 2 to 3 years
