I think Mel Gibson is a good example of how people can have their highs and lows, continuously seek God, make mistakes, and still do phenomenal things. Never criticize a man for his mistakes if he proactively seeks after God. it's never too late to choose God ❤
Your insight is so profound , and I believe, true. Mel Gibson is a genius, albeit a tortured one. He is a Renaissance man, with enough talent to burn. His range is as wide as the sky, both his acting and his directing. He does seek the Lord, but stumbles into different doors. Like us. We owe him so much, and a few prayers, too. Thank you, Mr. Gibson.
Completely agree. People that still judge him for his very public screw ups make me very angry. It's arrogant, for us to compare ourselves and our mistakes to someone who was thrust into the relentless paparazzi floodlights like someone as famous as Mel. Anyone w/ an ounce of humility could quietly remember their most embarrassing times and thank the Lord there were no cameras or tapes to capture it and blaze it everywhere, out of context no less, for all the world to feast on and judge.
I finally got to see this last night and I'm super proud of Andrew and Mel and the rest of the cast and crew. I grew up on Mel's work and Andrew is my favorite spiderman and this movie made me almost cry and wish I could personally thank Desmond himself but he's already passed. They told an incredible story
My mother's brother was in the battle of six theaters of war including Okinawa. My uncle on the beach area was rowing a boat/raft to rescue two wounded men when a mortar blasted near him. He was thrown in the air and lay wounded on the shore. He painfully carried metal shrapnel in the bones of his legs for the rest of his life. He went on to work until his sixties, and to raise a family and lived to be 99. Mr. Garfield, I cannot express in enough words my gratitude to you, and Mr. Gibson, for the hard work and long long hours on this film to portray the brave men, including my wonderful Uncle, who were in this terrible battle. I said a prayer for you Mr. Gibson and Mr. Garfield that you be blessed for all eternity. Thanks so very much.
I turned it on, did not even know its name, actor, or director. I said to myself that this was one of the most stellar films which I have ever seen. Then I found out it was Gibson's.I was not surprised.
Absolutely. I really enjoyed this movie. And I really don't enjoy 90% of the movies you can see today. The whole movie is great, but I especially loved the depiction of the romance between Desmond and Dorothy. I can feel it while I'm watching, and I personally find it way more realistic than about any romance in a movie I watched the last 20 years. I look for a beautiful woman with a beautiful mind (which took me very long), and then I enjoy her and the honor to have her, and I try to live up to that honor, and I'm thankful everytime I think of my marriage, and that's quite often.
Their intensity is worth everything. My father went through that same hell and nothing he did after the war came close to that experience. From the bullet that passed through the calf of one leg only to burn its way into the other leg, to the shrapnel scars on his back, to the removal of the dead bodies at night from the trenches, to the hospitals, back to the front line, back to the hospital ... to coming home and wondering why everything was so, so quiet and calm when his memories of it were so loud. He was at home only when he was re-living parts of it. If we could only find a more productive way to reach such intensity...
'Hacksaw Ridge'- Is One of 'The 'BEST ' Movies, I've EVER SEEN!!!...I watched it ,Then I Watched it AGAIN!. Then I had Friend's Over & we Watched it!... Then I had Another Friend Over & we Watched it also!!!... As Many TIMES as I've SEEN this Movie & I STILL CRY each TIME, That SOMEONE COULD have That MUCH STRENGTH OF CHARACTER, & When he's saying-"Lord just ONE more, just ONE more, as he's crawling on the ground & the bombs are going off all around him, etc. Etc...He TRULY 'LIVED' The 'THOU SHALL NOT KILL' & Was There as Medic. This is a man who is an
no one in this day and age can image what Desmond Doss and those soldiers went thru . Okinawa was the bloodiest battle of wwii with the most battle fatigue casualties of the whole war. Desmond Doss humility and hero
The one thing I loved about his character in the movie is his natural smile. It's so cute in a non lovey-dovey kinda way. It just makes you smile and feel happy. He's an amazing actor!
Jim Caviesel, watched Mel Gibson as he directed The Passion of the Christ. Jim did some killer imitations of Mel Gibson. His quick, constant movements. Constant fidgeting. What in the world would he do if he did not have a beard now ? I think that his words cannot keep up with his brain. Genius, on every level.
Mel , being a great director because He "got" the character. He knew who Desmond was and what he represented. ONly a really great director can do this. Great job Me.
To me the way the bucolic lead up to the horrific battle scenes was a big part of the impact of the movie. The technique it seems to me, was instructive to the viewer as to just what a horrific change those boys went through and was a great part of the experience of watching.
The scene after he saves those men and launches off the cliff to the bottom, and the guys are all checking him to see if he is okay and he’s freaking out in shock is some of the best acting I’ve ever seen in my life. Only thing close was Tom Hanks at the end of Captain Phillips when the corpsman is checking him out in the medbay.
mr. Palma. Mel Gibson is amazing but he didn't come up with it bro, Desmond said it himself. If u watch the end of the movie with the interviews with the people themselves. Desmond is a legend.
Mi querido Andrew espero que Dios te de la oportunidad de trabajar con este gran maestro del cine actor y productor para que puedas hacer peliculas con mensajes muy significativo para ayudar a muchas vidas que van por el camino incorrecto
So many comments about Mel fidgeting with his beard, (for the professor & the madman). Please give this guy a break, he quit drinking and smoking, he’s got to do something with all his electricity.
Querido sr Mel Querido Andrew ruego aDios y ala virgrncita Maria q los cuide alos 2 y todos sus familiares los amo q Diosito los acompañe en todo momento
It is sad to see Mel like this. I remember the reasonable semi-well adjusted artist. Now he his obviously having serious problems. I do not judge him for the things he said in an awful moment, but for his entire life and incredible talent.

I have to laugh, Mel mentions in the interview that he is 5' 10", which may be true in riding boots, as he wore in the Lethal Weapon Series, but I have met him twice and he was wearing joggers on one of the occasions and he was no more than 5' 7". So many short actors seem to always magically add two or three inches on to their height!:)
The interviewer's voice is annoying AF, but otherwise good interview. You don't usually see Mel give interviews these days in which he doesn't look preemptively tense and irritated.

Mel doesn’t get the respect he deserved for this masterpiece film... a damn shame there is politics in cinema

Wasnt it nominated for best picture and best director....i think it does get the respect. Its a top 15 war film of all time in my opinion

Andrew is just a beautiful person inside and outside. Anyone who has met him knows what I mean.
you're the best Mel !!!
art of movie making. anything this guy directs, no matter the subject, turns to gold. big ups to Mel!!
Mel Gibson sure has some Amazing Blue Eyes.

mel is such a legend and even a better director than he is actor.
and garfield is such a humble talent; destined for a few oscars in the future.
Hopefully. I want Andrew wins the Oscar, but the academy gives the Oscar to Affleck or Whasington...
:(
I totally agree with you!!!!
I can see Andrew becoming a awesome actor, winning some Oscar's in the future!!!!!!
I think if he sticks with Mel, he will have awards.
Love Andrews's blush when Mel talks about him at 4:00
Can we talk about how ridiculously cute and handsome Andrew is?
Yep, Andrew is just... adorable as hell...
i could go gay on that dude...
yeah.... He is a stud 🙃
he is extra handsome in this interview... SO gorgeous!
The one thing I loved about his character in the movie is his natural smile. It's so cute in a non lovey-dovey kinda way. It just makes you smile and feel happy. He's an amazing actor!
Mel's beard ALONE deserves an OSCAR!
Jim Caviesel, watched Mel Gibson as he directed The Passion of the Christ. Jim did some killer imitations of Mel Gibson. His quick, constant movements. Constant fidgeting.

That story with Sigourney Weaver is GREAT! I hope they're both still friendly.
Andrew is drop dead gorgeous in this interview...
Mel Gibson is one of the last great film makers left in Hollywood
This conversation touches on some deep topics. Great insightful questions and responses by the actors and interviewer. ❤ TY
Agreed. I love Mel's acting and directing.
THE DEPTH OF THIS MAN WAS SO WELL DONE BY ANDREW, MR DOSS WHAT MEN THEY ARE
Very inspiring what Mel said about the Bible toward the end of the interview. Deeper than what I expected.
Time-stamp please?
Hacksaw Ridge is amaizing and cool
Why am I smiling though this whole interview? 😂
Because Mel is a real genuine down to earth guy, unlike the rest of the celebreality world we have to suffer through. Idk just my opinion.
Same here, just like the guy ...feel like I could have a Whiskey with him.
God bless you all from India
Love you Mel. Keep fighting..
As a person with severe anxiety watching interviews with Mel make me soooooo damned anxious idk how he does it.

mr. Palma. Mel Gibson is amazing but he didn't come up with it bro, Desmond said it himself. If u watch the end of the movie with the interviews with the people themselves. Desmond is a legend.

Mel’s hyperactive and twitching. His brain is none stop.
Andrew ❤
What an amazing interview!
3:53 you can definitely tell Andrew's ego is going through the roof with all his small face smiles
I spent the majority of the time intrigued with Mel Gibson fiddling with his beard.
The best American soldiers ever we love desmon from Philippines he also assign In leyte during world war 2
This hero abided Jesus and modeled his life after Jesus. That's what motivated him, as he himself said.
I love how Mel scratches his beard as he's thinking and talking
Terrific interview

This is why you don't do drugs kid.
Hope he starts meditating, exercise, makes strong friends. He's too talented.
Mel is a great storyteller and an intense listener.
So many comments about Mel fidgeting with his beard, (for the professor & the madman). Please give this guy a break, he quit drinking and smoking, he’s got to do something with all his electricity.
Mad Mel !..love him ..one of the last remaining of the real men
That's a silly insulting thing to say. You view this opinion as a positive? Grow up.
I love mel and andrew. the best actor.the best productor.
We were soldiers. Awesome movie. Great actor and director. Bad ass.
Fun drinking game: take a shot every time Mel Gibson plays with his beard. :)

All of the marvel superheroes Wish they could do what Desmond Doss 🥰 Did 💯. Great Job 🥳💯
I don't have a problem with it, but I didn't realize that all the actors were Australian. Except for Vince Vaughn.
lmfao at how mel play with his beard!!!😂🤣😂
It is sad to see Mel like this. I remember the reasonable semi-well adjusted artist. Now he his obviously having serious problems. I do not judge him for the things he said in an awful moment, but for his entire life and incredible talent.

Gibson is nuts with that insane facial hair.
That beard is driving him nuts
Mel Gibson, we love you are a very nice acting person

Mel should do a movie on operation whitecoat
Always loved any thing Mel Gibson was starring in or directed, but the mans alittle strange.
@15:35 I ’m just gonna walk in the background of a Mel Gibson interview
He should do a movie on Jack The Ripper
The interviewer's voice is annoying AF, but otherwise good interview. You don't usually see Mel give interviews these days in which he doesn't look preemptively tense and irritated.
Holy shit Mel is manic. He's apparently sober but he's pretty obsessive and twitchy.
