I've met a lot of really cool and kind people through fish. I've also met a lot of rude prick breeders who are only in it for the money. Eg people who sell bristlenose fry still attached to the eggs etc.
Dean's room is a bit cleaner, and maybe dean has some rarer fish. It's not so hard to breed guppies and albino corydoras, from my experience. Chinese danio and barbs is very easy as well as i was surprised to notice in my fishroom. Tetras is maybe a bit more of a challenge.
@@TheBSideDJ Yeah I agree, Deans fishroom is a lot cleaner and he breeds rarer fish and not only that his room is all automatic too! This guy is still amazing though 👌🏻
This just proves that you nick really inspire hobbyist of all ages from younger ones to more adults. Good job and more power mate! Heaps and heaps of goodluck for you.
Another man that can attest that multi tank syndrome annoys wives lol. You can convert them! Went to the fish store today with her and the kids, kids start pointing out a 8x2.5x2.5 tank waiting for collection. She says what could you do with that? Babe... the greatest community tank you have ever seen. The seed is planted
I love seeing how other hobbyist do different foods and filters. I love the matten filters. I have four tanks running on them. Loved the tour. Thanks. Liked.
I love these "fish room" videos of so many different hobbyist. Peter is a hoot. What a nice guy. Nick, I love the humility you bring to the table man. One thing I love about this hobby is how many paths there are. There is always something new to learn or try.
That's incredible Peter goes to my favourite pet shop at Rothwell... can't believe you're so local this is amazing... I just feel so much more connected do you guys now however ridiculous that sounds..
These are my favourite sorts of videos, whether it's behind the scenes with KFS or visiting hobbyists, so much of the insightful and practical information you get, you'd never find online or in books - eg: keeping a piece of dead coral with your Cherry shrimps for maintaining hardness 🤩
Thank you Peter for opening your fishroom to us. I also am a firm believer in live food. When I feed mosquito larvae, I run them under the hottest tap water first, so they don't hatch out in the house. Thanks for sharing Peter's fishroom.
2:24 Nice shout out to Mark Aquatics. Peters Garage is amazing! His wife's support is equally amazing. That bit about neons and eggs fouling in the female sounds plausable, ill try out the 7day gap in the breeding regiment, see if i get even more success. Thanks to you for making this video!
I suggest you both try feeding grindle and white worms dry cat food pellets. Soaked in water for a couple of minutes and replaced every 2 or 3 days you only need 6 cat food pellets in a container that size. . I have white worms living on the fish room floor at around 24 degrees centigrade no problem.. I saw the same American videos of using a wine chiller . Micro worms. Try instant dry potatoes plus yeast for convenience . A link soon.
A link to a local gentleman that uses white bread for no smell micro worms. Instant potato is a little more expensive but more convenient. ua-cam.com/video/X2pKYSordL8/v-deo.html
I loved breeding fish when I was a lot younger. It's always exciting to see the little fry swim around or eggs. I learned very early on that you never throw away the water after cleaning a filter. I had so much fry just being sucked up by the pump and then living in "joy" inside the filter. My biggest "success" at the time(in the mid 90's) was breeding chaetostoma formosae(? not sure what they're called in English) the fish store I sold them to couldn't believe their eyes. I must have got around 50-100 of them. Sadly I had to get rid of all my fish and aquariums as my new place had no space. I hope in the future to be able to pick up the hobby once again. I've learned so much from people like you and this guy in the video.
If you go to Dan’s aquatics there is a fish room tour of someone who breeds barbs and he has a special spawning tank for breeding tetras and barbs and danio’s ect I think it’s called the Barb whisperer
Great video idea! First to watch whole vid First like First view - I watch after uploaded 4 seconds ago. I am getting a fish room out the back of my house but is like only a wall. He has a great fish room! Love the bucket and the danios. #neonetetrahack.
2 Pieces of advice - Mite paper, and use plain mashed potatoes sold in bags for the microworms! Doesn't really stink! Thanks for the tip on the blackworms!
5:36 I'm no expert, but I've had the Popeye happen twice now recently, once to a molly, once to a platy. I added just a little extra salt to the aquarium, and both times, they cleared up within 3 days. The fish both showed noticeable relief immediately, but it took a couple days for the swelling to completely clear.
lol, I'm w3atching videos to calm down, so I gave my danios a little breeding tank setup for the first time in ages... they are getting older, I bred them years ago... they did pretty much nothing for two days... now I put them back in their tanks (which I took the opportunity to give a deep clean for the first time in years.,.. and they are spawning all over the place... I'll try them again next weekend. I did manage to get a few fertilised glowlights though I can see the embryos in the eggs.
Great tour fantastic to see other enthusiasts fish rooms, i just have one question how is Pete regulating the temperature with our Qld summer heat when it gets into the 40+
thanks for the content, your videos get better and better, i wish you all the best for the future! and in my opinion the guys like Peter and you are the best source for reliable breeding info and tips...it doesnt matter if the tanks are nice or not, the reult matters...i found u cant always have both ( u either have a nice scape or planted tank or a nice breeding setup but i seem to never can get both )anyway, thank you and to peter for the content
That's interesting how he has difficulty raising baby brine shrimp in captivity, i remember when i was about 10 years old they would sell these "sea monkey" kits at the local pet store and also interestingly enough at the toy and book stores (ToysRUs as one of the giant retailers) and i remember purchasing one of these kits, you get a quarter gallon acrylic setup with "mixture 1" (preweighed salt mixture, i assume it was salt mixture) "mixture 2" which were the eggs and a little packet about the size of an alcohol wipe that was the food. I still remember just hatching them out in the container (no bubbler, no water changes) and just fed those brine shrimp aka: sea monkeys the powdered food and they would grow into adults and breed, though i never got the eggs to hatch, i was still able to keep brine shrimp into adulthood without the use of aeration pump or water changes...
I'm in south east Qld too, about to build a fishroom but not sure how I'm going to stop all my tanks overheating in summer....I'm thinking a/c is probably the way to go but my electricity bill will be scary af 🤔🤷♀️
there is actually a small difference between walter worms and micro worms. micro worms sink to the bottom, walter worms continue to swim through the water for quite a while. and then there's banana worms, which are basically the same as micro worms but a little smaller.
Nice video. I got two question please: If a pregnant guppy that is infected with inetrnal parasites gives birth, will the baby guppies have these parasites too? And do the guppies always have internal parasites or they get the parasites from the outside of the aquariums?
I just tried to breed some of my Betta fish☺️ quick question though..are you putting them in cold water or tropical has I can't see any heaters on the spawn ones? Thank you
Had a tank that was outside all winter down to 30 degrees or 0 for ya. Jack Dempsey was in there dead floating at the bottom for 3 months. Put the tank in the sun and that gladiator came back to life. I had another Jack Dempsey that jumped out and dried up solid, maybe 6 hours out. I put him back in the water pushing him forward so water goes through his gills and he started swimming too. Those fish are insane
such a nice man! Weird how this hobby brings people together.
It’s awesome!

Good problem to have
So is mine, minus the fish tanks 😂
You said, so this is your garage...lol he said well ...it's supposed to be!!! I think all of us can relate, I have 22 aquariums in my living room!!
My bedroom, groan lol
The wholesome content I needed today. :)
