You're a fantastic interviewer. So respectful and gracious. It makes a huge difference in the quality of the content. Amazing guy Jack! Thanks for sharing this ...
This guy has been longer in the hobby than I do live. What an incredible resource of knowledge and experience! Thumbs up for bringing these people in front of a camera!
What a wonderful fish keeper! I’d love to pick his brain on the hobby! Tbh between this video and lrb’s video I’ve watched over a dozen times! Just amazing!
This was a great video. Jack knows his stuff on killifish. It was so nice to hear him talk about his hobby, fish and collecting trips. Such an interesting man. Thanks for sharing such a true gem to the hobby. Hope you visit him again.
Flip aquatics, I hope my support helps you stay alive on here. I love your info you give out. I love being able to see these guys that have been breeding fish for as long as I have been alive. I was born in 1982.
Keep up the visits to other hobbyists fish rooms. Great to get ideas and techniques. I agree with you: very innovative aquarium rack leveling application. Good idea for the shrimp/krill frozen blend too.
Definitely a correlation between the top collectors/breeders in the hobby and intelligence! All of the "old timers" come from usually very intellectual careers and are all well read and well spoken!! Very neat and makes perfect sense they are the top hobbyists for sure!!
Amazing collection of killis I think I see my future self here, starting with normans lampeyes and having great success with breeding. Thank you Rob for showing us this great fish room thank you Jack for sharing your knowledge
Man I know you’re starting out, but I only subscribed for these little house tours you go on, they’re so dope! You meet so many people and see so many cool fish. Stashed gems 💎 keep them coming man, these house visits are dope!! These videos are where your views are at. Don’t lose them
I'm voltron: oh really I'm a democrat I have a male pro-democrat🔵👍🏾 paradise gourami fish named BLUETIGER he will takedown a republican🔴👎🏻 Florida flagfish anyday 😊 my pro-democrat paradise gourami fish will be bred with his pro-democrat🔵 female paradise gourami queen.
Hi Rob, Loving your fish room tours. Enjoy your tours the most out of everybody on you tube. Your really good at them and go into great detail, always learn something. Have a Great day Rob and keep up the great content. :)
Amazing information and the tours are awesome. I do hope a lot of people from different countries sees this, so that they would understand that america is not just about chain stores when it comes to the aquarium hobby. There are amazing fish keepers in america as well that have a ton of experience and knowledge about the hobby.
I have a large male Hoplo I rescued from LFS several months ago. Wonderful fish. I am currently growing out two Hoplo fry, in hopes that one or both are females. They grow daily and will soon be able to meet the old man in his tank. Thanks for the vid. Very cool fish room!
What brand peat moss do you recommend? And which killifish species do you find easier to hatch? And which ones live longer than a year? And where can I purchase pairs or either eggs?
Aquari-Sol, i still have a bottle of this from the 80's :) it is basically copper salts in a liquid form...so not good for snails or shrimp...but it is indicative of the old school medication that we got to use back then. Good stuff this video :)
Whilst I would agree that in a poorly setup aquarium you do need to change the water regularly, if the filtration is correct you could go years just topping up what evaporates, I know this because I've had aquariums running this way. All I would say is don't feed your fish lots of food, after all in their natural surroundings they only eat when it rains or what they can scavenge, if this was understood and explained more I think more people would have aquariums.
Curious as what all those yarn decorations are in the tanks? Saw this in the other video with the older lady who had been in the hobby for 50 years. Was that just the style of decorations before all these plastics got out of hand?
Can I keep different species of killifish in a display tank? Say a 54 gallon with lots of vegetation and a mix of Golden Wonders and something a lot of color like a Nothobranchius?
I looked up killifish, and you're right, they don't live that long at all, from a few months to a year. I don't think I can get into that, breeding them, feeding them, and only to have them live a year.
people realize researchers are hesitant to say they discovered ANYTHING as many of these creatures are known by locals but rarely are noticed on a world wide scale.
These old people(no disrespect!) are so valuable to our hobby!! So much knowledge and experience....it's priceless!
'Older' :)
“Gentlemen”
Elders? lol
As I said my pro-democrat🔵👍🏾 paradise gourami fish will takedown a republican🔴👎🏻 Florida flagfish/gop flagfish anyday

I'll bet my entire life savings that he's an engineer.
Well since I know him be lucky you didn't bet because you'd have lost it all. Try an accountant for the Fed's. (retired)
@@midwestconsortium9817 he literally said it in the video too if he watched it! lol
I know this is a old video, But Does he still stay around the granite city area?

I'm gonna start a killifish tank because of Jack
Curious as what all those yarn decorations are in the tanks? Saw this in the other video with the older lady who had been in the hobby for 50 years. Was that just the style of decorations before all these plastics got out of hand?
Killifish like to spawn in the yarn.
Great video

F.B.I. Fish Breeding Icon.
Do you have the blue white dot killfish?
That’s a lot of killifish 🙈😍
Can I keep different species of killifish in a display tank? Say a 54 gallon with lots of vegetation and a mix of Golden Wonders and something a lot of color like a Nothobranchius?
That is an amazing fish room does he sell his fish

Can the eggs be placed in a egg tumbler?
Where does one acquire lucite containers that size?
people realize researchers are hesitant to say they discovered ANYTHING as many of these creatures are known by locals but rarely are noticed on a world wide scale.
