I often wondered if after over five years, Green Day can still be seen as my favourite band, even though I've listened most of their songs to death. But now I see them more as my personal rabbit hole to dive into and artistic Inspiration. There's no other band where I can say that I've listened to everything, and I mean EVERYTHING in their catalog...

Have you both been down the Network rabbit hole? As far as i see, the first network album called money money 2020 is a reference to them getting out the deal with Warner bros, that sort of explains father of all being a screw you album and then they dropped another network album in 2020 perfectly completing the narrative of the Network and the deal with Warner Bros, I might be crazy but it all falls into place perfectly, would be one hell of a coincidence

Wished it was 2016, nothing will ever beat the hype for Revolution Radio, and actually living up to it. Everything about that era was a once in a lifetime experience. Tix were not as expensive, I paid $200 for pit tickets at the Rose Bowl show, and it was only Green Day and CATB. They played long set list that wasn’t “non-fan oriented”. That tour was hyped. Days that will never be again sadly. I still love the music of Green Day, Rancid, Smashing Pumpkins and Linda Linda’s.

    • @Reds-Retros

That whole era was wholesome as fuck. I went to every single Green Day show in Australia during that tour, got barrier in a few of them and it was an incredible experience that I'll never forget.
They really have to put Bang Bang back on the set list, because seeing them play it live 7 times still wasn't enough.

Green Day are still among my Top 5 in spite of their misfires.
As for my #1 band though, I don't think I ever want it to change. The Beatles have had a special place in my heart since I was introduced to them as a little kid (and I come from a generation far past their heyday, so that's really saying something), and they're the quintessential band whose music puts me in a good mood no matter what (or at least most of the time).

Twenty One Pilots were that band that were a gateway for so much other music for me, and while Linkin Park is right behind them, they've been my favorite artist since 2016. I think that artists that I've grown to enjoy the most in the last few years are System of a Down, Paramore, Tame Impala, The Weeknd, and Lorde.

My favorite band has been *Pearl Jam* ever since I was 5, in 1992 (yes, I am old).
They’ve been #1 that entire time, although *Radiohead* and *The Strokes* are very close at 2 and 3.
I also love *Green Day*, but they have been starting to scare me into thinking they’ll never release a great or even really good album again, especially after Father of All…

foo fighters are my favorite band. They have been my favorite “All My Life” (get it?). Anyways couples years back when I was 8 I got to meet them backstage and got to talk to Dave and Taylor for a long time and during encore Dave said to 10,000 people “I bet this kid will be up in this stage in 10 years” and then dedicated big me to me. Dave and Taylor inspired me to drum since and I was so heartbroken by Taylor’s passing. I love everything foo’s release with BHWA being my second favorite album they have released, and wasting light is my second favorite album of all time(Meteora by Linkin park is #1). Anyways thanks for reading.

    I echo this statement
Green Day too have been my favorite band for as long as I can remember and American Idiot is my favorite album of all time. I still love them despite the many low points they've hit in the past and not also not being as high on these new Saviors songs as I would want to be because when Green Day is good, they are GREAT and they hold a very special place in my soul.
In terms of the ticket prices, yea it is objectively ridiculous and obscene how expensive they are. I spent an embarrassing amount on two tickets to be in the pit for the NYC show and my justification for it was that even though I've seen them live multiple times, I've never seen them in the pit and I want so badly to mosh to these songs I love so much just once in my life, after that I can officially cross that off my bucket list.
I genuinely hope the new album is good

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, I don't listen to them much anymore, but I cannot deny how their music still makes me feel when I do sit down to listen to it; Still Breathing came on shuffle literally last night and I burst into tears. The feelings their music gives me hasn't changed in all these years, I honestly don't think anyone could ever overtake them, but who knows!

I haven’t listened to the newest Green Day single but I was pleasantly surprised by the other most recent one. I hope this is a return to form.
I feel the concert ticket woes. My friend and I wanted to see Offspring last year and it was $100 CDN for general admission at the friggin’ casino. I just couldn’t justify it. (We’re going to see a killer Canadian band called the Beaches tomorrow night and it was only $40. So much more reasonable.) I mean, I wish I could see Offspring but… no.

I’m not sure if I can ever give a #1 spot for fav band of all time. Green Day are in a list of bands I have in the “top tier” alongside The Who and Led Zeppelin, whose music influenced me to start playing drums in my teen years, and also other alt rock/pop punk bands like blink-182, Sum 41, Fall Out Boy and Paramore.
Before becoming a pop punker I was very much into jam band music, and I’m slowly getting back into that once again after watching the livestreams of the final Dead & Co. shows and also reuniting with an old band of mine that played jam band music for one evening recently.
With an ever-evolving music taste and some bands coming and going I don’t think I can put a #1 on any one of them but there are certain bands I have in my top tier that have had a huge impact on me - Green Day being one of them for sure since I like or else love most of their albums and they did absolutely fantastic performing live at Hella Mega to top it off 👏

Green Day is my second favorite band ever. They only barely get beaten out by Blink-182, and that's only because I love the dynamic between Mark and Tom so much. They made me laugh so much as a teenager through interviews, behind the scenes videos, banter between songs on stage, but I often find myself wondering if they'll always be my favorite band. When I was a teen, the humor and lyrics hit so hard, because it felt exactly like how my friends and I acted. Now that I'm 29, it feels like it's nostalgia still keeping them in that spot. They really captured that feeling of being young, stupid and carefree, but I know that won't always resonate with me or be relatable, and that makes me sad

Hello, it's your favorite Switchfoot fan follower. I understand the frustration of having your favorite band not live up to the hype and feel like they were going down a road that you were unsure you wanted to follow. A lot of fans of Switchfoot struggled with Fading West. While I see why people did, I still enjoy that album and enjoy the pop summer beach sounds. Where the Light Shines Through is when things got rough for me. The first year after its release, I pushed myself to like the album. It has it's good moments but it's all in the first half and then it takes a dive on the second for me. But every. band is bound to run into an album that you don't like (WTLST ranks as my 2nd least favorite from them.) Then the band goes on hiatus and comes back shortly after with Native Tongue. While I like that album a little more for experimenting and challenging the idea of what Switchfoot sounds like, the album still falls short. The good songs are really different for the band but the rest felt like experimenting in a safe way. It was this moment where I questioned if the band was going a direction that I wanted to follow them anymore with. They were seeing some record high numbers on listening platforms and they sounded more CCM than ever before. I had to swallow the hard pill that maybe the band wasn't for me anymore. Then after quarantine, they came out with Interrobang and this album blew me away. It's my 3rd favorite from them. This one album reminded me how much I loved the band. It gave me hope that they weren't going to conform and that they were gonna make music only they could. Then comes the re-release of the beautiful letdown and really living with those songs again has confirmed why this is my favorite band. Their songs are the ones that have molded me and have gotten me through tough times. I can't wait to hear what they make next.
For green day, as someone who enjoys them and they've always hovered in my low top 10 or just outside, I can say that the new singles are good and that I think it'll be a solid album. Something of the likes of Warning. Nothing ground breaking but you'll look back on it and be like, actually that was a pretty solid album.
Also I would love a video on bands that could take your top spot or bands that have a strong promising future that you wanna see where they'll be 3 albums later.

Nirvana has been my favorite band for the past 4 years now and I dont really see that changing in the near future, even though there are bands who have music that I enjoy more. It is simply just the way that Nirvana makes me feel and the impact they have had on me. See, i discovered them in the middle of quarantine and their music eventually became what kept me going as the world around me dealt with all the unknowns. Upon hearing them, all of the rock bands just fell right into my lap and I just completely fell in love with the genre all thanks to them. I don't think that is ever a feeling that I could forget about and boy, what I wouldnt give to be able to go back and hear In Utero for the first time again.

I think Green Day lives on the same way Star Wars does. Regardless of what you think of certain things they release, there's always one album or movie that cemented the love and a handful that hooked you in. In Green Day's case, I'd say many people either grew up with them or discovered them at a key time in their life (generally teens) where their songs really resonated while also being the gateway to either their influences, Gilman Street or the bands they influenced. Eg I'm a fan of many bands from the 2000s as well as liking songs by 80s/90s Gilman Street bands and classic punk songs but all three were a result of me getting into Green Day first. I think Green Day will always have a head start through personal impact while many other bands have to prove themselves purely through quality.

I just saw Depeche Mode live! They're still as good as they were 30 years ago! Dave Gahan was dancing and moving. His voice has improved well. Martin Gore even sang as well! Definitely a band you have to see live!

I missed out on HM tour in 2021 so I really want to see them but as a 19 year old in college, it’s almost impossible to go. $400+ for pit at a lot of shows is crazy and it’s a huge shame. Bummed I missed Blink and Paramore last summer for the exact same reason. It just sucks

I feel you. My fav band is TØP and they aren't at their best right now in terms of the quality of their music. Same with other top bands for me like Coldplay with Music of the Spheres or Green Day, too, which, though they still have plenty of previous music that I still love, the fact that they aren't at their best at the moment also kinda leaves the door open for other bands to possibly top them.
That also includes bands like Linkin Park or Oasis that don't make music anymore but still left us not in good terms musically.
There are groups that I wouldn't put in my top 5 or even 10 but the fact that they're still making great music now makes me wanna keep them around and appreciate them in many ways. Like Foo Fighters and Sum 41 that were always up there for me or Paramore and The 1975 who will probably be all over my Spotify wrapped this year.
And I know lots of the groups that aren't at thier best righr now are still killer live, but having that last great project really gives them a big boost for me. I was a casual Strokes fan who randomly decided to listen to The New Abnormal when it came out and, despite them not giving us music in a while, I'm falling more in love with them each day cause it was that good. Even with a band like Bring Me, who could still f-up with the new lp, they took over my Spotify last year after giving PHSH a chance.
The only top top ones that I could say maybe do still hold up are RHCP or Blink, tho I didn't listen to their last albums despite liking what I've heard.
But even newer acts like boygenious, The Warning, Wet Leg or Pacifica, or Olivia and Billie for pop, nowhere near my top, but still feel like a breath of fresh air and keep my hopes up for the future of its genres and music in general

Definitely in the same situation as you, Jon. Green Day is still one of my favorite bands, but I could not justify the ticket prices this time around. I thought I would have better luck with my show being one of the amphitheater shows without Smashing Pumpkins, but the cheapest seat was $120+fees with pit being $199+fees. Seems ridiculously high considering we got much better seats at Hella Mega for cheaper. I have a feeling the prices will drop in my area so I'll just be patient until next summer rolls around. Until then, I'll just keep my fingers crossed that Saviors is great and a return to form after FOA.

Green Day is and will always be my favorite band. Blink 182 is a VERY close 2nd but ive listened to GD's discography all my life so I can go almost a year without listening to an album. Then when nothing is coming out that peaks my interest, I go back to any of their albums and it feels like home. Father of All is on the lower end of my list from them but that didnt change my love for them. Hoping to see them in Milwaukee next year!

Honestly, I still love Green Day in spite of the fact that I haven't really loved any of their works since 21st Century Breakdown, and even though American Idiot is probably better, 21st Century Breakdown is such a time capsule for me that it's almost one I prefer reaching for now, though it's very close. Also, at the risk of sounding stupid, what's the vinyl in the background?

My favorite band used to be A7X then Motionless in White, but now it’s Alkaline Trio. I have been listening to unhealthy amounts of their music lately. One of the bands that I loved back in middle school that I still love a lot to this day is The Used and I was happy to see them live this year with Pierce the Veil, but I mostly listen to their early stuff, even though I do find enjoyment in theIr new stuff despite it not being as strong as their early records.

I saw Fall Out Boy with my friend few months back. We payed like 250 for both tickets combined, and although they were lawn seats, there was a pit and we had a great time. Id rather go out to another FOB concert when they come back around to PA in March then spend 5 paychecks to see Green Day. Green Day is my favorite band, but their music has been stagnant with its sound for a long time with little to no evolution (that I enjoy) so I’m not sure where I stand on them rn. I’ll have to wait and see when the album drops if I like it.

My favourite band is Green Day too... but this is too much. Im from Czech Republic in Europe and unluckily they are not visitting my country on the Europe tour. Was hopping for our Rock Festival to bring them, but they said they were there on Hella Mega Tour so... yeah it was awesome and i want to see them again! But sadly not on this tour and not that cheap. Usually we have these rock bands solo concers like 80 to 100 dollars, so i dont want to know the cost in UK or something when i see this. Great video tho, really enjoyed!

Green Day were never one of my all time favorites, but their album streak from 94' to 04' was and still is a goldmine. Unfortunately to me, they peaked with American Idiot and just haven't been able to wow me since. Checked tickets for the DC date and decent seats are well over $200. Noooooo thank you. Would love to see them live, but maybe at a festival or something.
My all-time favorite band is still TesseracT. As of of right now, I still can't think of another artist where I've gone back to their music and still gotten the same amount of enjoyment with them, as on my first listen. But I also choose not to listen to them too much to save myself from burnout, which is the last thing I want with a band like TesseracT.
Yellowcard is a close 2nd, but it's a bit more based on nostalgia, even though their music has still held up extremely well. Though I will mention that their latest EP they put out this year is some of their best material in about 10 years.

They changed my life and love them so stoked for Father to Son off the new record I think Saviors will be a great record. Insomniac/21st Century Breakdown are my fav albums…Westbound Sign favorite song…I got pitt/vip/calling all saviors..whatever for $375 at Hershey it’s my 4th time seeing em but I never got a chance to be that close so I had to do it, I owe them so much. Sounds corny but they have a song for every emotion I have…Last Night on Earth is perfection and although I agree it’s crazy the prices I don’t mind giving back in a weird way for all they have given me.

my fave is green day for sure, while i do see the faults others have with them, i still actually find myself enjoying the trilogy and father of all, no artist has a flawless record, but when they nail it they fuckin nail it, just like you theyve saved my life, been listening since like the late 90s early 2000s because of my significantly older brothers, and still to this day, i do acknowledge that i have a very all or nothing personality , i either enjoy most of something or little to none , and theyve shaped my music taste, i give them credit for my love of deeper punk like a lot of alkaline trio stuff even admiting thats hugely because of blink also, but also darker bands like H.I.M etc with lyrics that seem odd at face value but when you really understand they are so raw and emotional, and as a man whos always had emotional problems, artists like them have given me a lot of help through all of my life , i liken them to my fave non rock artist, eminem, yes he has had some misses but his overall impact on music and his ability to express himself whether we as listeners agree or not is so powerful, and i need that in my life, and i owe part of me being here to even type this to them, rev rad is actually how i found your channel

Green Day's been my favorite band since '95! But there are bands I like just as much, if not more. So, how can Green Day still be my favorite? Simple. I've learned a lot from them. They got me into music, specifically punk rock and the DIY ethos. And I learned tolerance and acceptance from them and their great community of welcoming fans.
I've grown up with them, studied them, seen them almost every time they tour a new album, etc. At this point, they feel like friends. They have a great relationship with their fans - you can see that they are having fun, and they invite us to join in. For example, they have "secret projects" such as the Foxboro Hot Tubs and the Network, not because they have to but because they want to. And both projects were awesome! I saw the Hot Tubs live and it was one of the best shows I've been to (I even got on stage with a bunch of other drunk fans during Broadway at Dion Hills, haha). And, my friend was able to get me to meet them backstage at Conan during the Warning tour (they're nice guys and signed my Kerplunk album).
They've impressed and surprised me over the years. I was already a fan for nearly a decade when American Idiot came out, so watching them reinvent themselves was a sight to behold. And, while FOAM was a major letdown, Money Money 2020 Pt II more than made up for it.
So, they're my favorite band and I look forward to the new album. But I agree - the ticket prices for this tour are nuts...
