I think all competing companies, whether film, Video games, or theme parks should be mutual rivals. Those who compete to help push the other to improve themselves. Not to destroy the other but to help improve each other and the industry as a whole. Just look at the theme park rivalry between Disney and universal Studios. those two are the only amusement parks I'll ever go to because they actually put an emphasis on showmanship and attention to detail.

Until Doom and Animal Crossing came out together and declared peace in our time
Personally I love both, they both have great graphics but there are still some flaws. Example the fact that you can't change the graphics on the games' settings which means you can't get more FPS that you can actually get and the input delay is pretty bad on both consoles and some games have cross platform compatibility which means you can play against PC players and they have an advantage over you since they get less input delay. The benefits are that you get pretty good graphics and FPS for the price, it's cheaper than a gaming PC, and it consumes less power than a gaming PC. You don't have to hate on the XBOX just because you have the PlayStation and you don't have to hate on the PlayStation just because you have the XBOX, they are pretty much the same console just with some minor differences.

The RPG games are sorta 50/50. To me yes, I feel like both is better like everyone but spec wise of course Pc is better, games that don’t run well on console work flawlessly on PC. But I don’t exactly think it’s overall “better”

Most Xbox players I know have never played on a PS4 and still act as though Xbox one is far better, an example is my brother, it really annoys me.

I'm a Xbox player. The Xbox is better. No one is going to buy every exclusive game except a small number of people. You buy a couple of games to play that YOU like. You're trying to compare a game console that is a few steps away from a computer to a game console that wins solely of buying rights to games. There's a reason why the Xbox is still selling WITHOUT as many exclusives

For me it’s the balance of power, graphics, and games. Since the ps4 and the Xbox have very similar performance and graphics the games are what determines it. Both had almost the same 3rd party support but the ps4 had better exclusives and they were actually exclusives. So that’s why I think PS4 is better than Xbox one.

I gotta be honest, I'm the other way around. I think its because I've moved a lot this generation I feel like I've had my ps4 in a lot of houses that might be making it feel longer. But yeah my body is definitely ready for a new fancy console.
It's cuz it was a mess. This is when cracks in the console industry began to show. They expected you to be buying a new console every two years. Xbox One was relatively underpowered. PS4 still used their (relatively) dumb cell architecture so the only good games were first party. Graphically there wasn't much difference. The real difference was frame rates, ram and storage. This was still before SSDs were common. You can get so much more out of a gpu by opening those 3 bottle necks (CPU, RAM, storage speed).
I used a gtx 970 from about the mid-end of Xbox 360 era all the way through Xbox One era and to the beggining of Series X.
We also have cloud computing as a result of a more connected world, back when Xbox One came out, many fans were extremely disappointed to hear the rumor that you needed an online connection to get the most out of it. The thing is, their plan worked way more than we give them credit for. People use consoles for more than just video games, and rightly so, it's a powerful appliance it can do more than just games. But yeah, cloud computing, you may not realize it, but many games take advantage of cloud computing to deliver graphics. As a PC gamer, I can see the settings to enable or disable such a thing, idk how much a current gen console can do that, but I've heard they do have some options now. Call of Duty and Fortnite both use online-streamed graphical data. If that sounds weird that's cuz it kind of is. I've never heard of it until 2023.

You can not say Quantum Break, Sea Of Thieves, State of Decay and Sunset Overdrive weren’t good exclusives lmaooo. SOD 2 wasn’t better than the first but the first still remains an exclusive, Quantum Break gained many rewards for its release, Sea of Thieves is one of the highest livestreamed games to date, and Sunset Overdrive is just a better Second Son, a PS4 exclusive 😂😂😂 I own both consoles, I play both equally as much, so I understand the details, but PS4, listen closely, PS4 comes nowhere near Xbox One. I’ve literally just proven it...

Sony absolutely wrecked Microsoft this generation. But let's see how they screw it up with the PS5. If you look at it historically, console companies do well and then get stupid or greedy and lose it the next generation.
Nintendo killed it with the Snes but got greedy and accidentally influenced the creation of the Playstation. They also got too in their way and went from the extreamly popular Wii to the Wii U.
Xbox 360 was the killer console and we all know how much they royally screwed up the launch of the Xbone and how cocky they were. And Sony won the PS2 generation in a landslide but their hubris lead them to making some really bad decisions for the PS3 launch.
So I hope the PS5 is just the PS4 but with better tech and maybe some cool added features that don't detract from the player's experience

The games I enjoyed the most this gen were actually on PlayStation. I didn’t have a great time with the one x. Even the games that looked the best on that console did not give me the best game experiences.
RD2 looked amazing once I got the hdr settings how I wanted them but the character moved slow and sluggish. It felt less like a video game than most. Controls were not as responsive as I would of liked. In the quest for realism some fun was sacrificed. The game was a detailed, immersive game but I wouldn’t say it was necessarily fun. I was invested in the story but pushed on to the see the rest of it play out.What is fun about virtual fishing or hunting? Those parts of the game were tedious.
AC3 remastered also looked good but was a fucking nightmare to play with the worse AI and mechanics, from enemies spawning in your path just to kill you off and end your game, to men always being faster then you and jabbing you in the back with muskets. I played those games, AC3, in particular just to get through them and get them over with, both dragged and had a lot of filler. Like the island in RD2 and most of AC3. AC3 has the worse frame rate I’ve seen in a game this gen and the game frequently crashed my one x.
The games I had a better time with this gen were on PS4 pro. HZD, I probably replayed as much as 5 times, I also had a blast with games like GOW,Ghost of Tushima,Spider-Man,Ratchet and clank even TLOU2 .
The game I probably enjoyed most on the one x was mafia 3. All the other games I played on it just looked good but weren’t much fun to play.
PS4: Great with (Single player) Exclusives, sales, innovation, and Vr (PSVR is the highest selling Vr headset and one of the best Vr headsets, only being beaten by the quest)
Xbox one: Great with Multiplayer Exclusives, Backwards compatibility, Power, and controllers (the Xbox one controller is widely regarded as one of the best controllers)

I also own both and i have to say the Xbox one s and X in 2019 and 2020 are better but ps4 was better in 2013-2018 now xbox has a good dashboard and it changed everything. + game pass is killing it right now and you get much cheaper gold options with gamepass of course ps4 is not making me happy like xbox does right now. Imagine $1 for 3 months Gold and Game Pass and then you can get 1$ for 1 month Gold and Game Pass i do this since 2018 i pay $10 a year for gold and game pass thats insane. and of course the backwards is also so much nicer on xbox.
I own both. I only use the PS4 for the exclusives. Everything else I play on Xbox. Xbox live and game pass are better systems. Every game automatically has a group finder with xbox.
Oh and we cannot forget about the elite controller.
