I remember reading chapters 16 and 17 out loud to my mom as she was making dinner. When I said, "It was Quirrell," she stopped what she was doing and said, "WHAT!!??" One of the best plot twists I've ever experienced.
Regarding when Voldemort possessed Quirrel, another clue in the book happens in “The Sorting Hat” when Harry observes Quirrel “looking very peculiar in a large purple turban”, suggesting that he wasn’t wearing the turban in the Leaky Cauldron. The movie just messes with us by introducing Quirrel already wearing the turban.
1 book down, 6 more to go. With 18 chapters in Chamber of Secrets being released at one episode per week beginning on January 14th, the book will be finished on May 12th, and we'll begin Prisoner of Azkaban on May 19th.
I think they're going to do the first three chapters of book number two in one session so it might be before then before they get the third book we'll see because they did book number one chapters 1 2 and 3 so they might do the same with book number two Well know next week unless they announce you today
@@bailatwerski2951it was probably only because the podcast launched this way though… they already said at the end of this one that the first chapter will be next week 🤔
I've always argued that Harry can't see Thestrals at first because he didn't actually witness the attack, and the memory triggered by the Dementors is not his own worst memory; it's Voldemort's from the bit of soul inside him. So then Harry's uniquely affected so badly by the Dementors because they're acting on both souls
I would have to go back and re-read but I was pretty sure there was a passage in one of the books where you’re in voldemorts head during the attack and Harry does indeed see his mother fall down. I remember him thinking James a fool for trying to fight him without a wand, thinking weapons could be discarded even for a moment. He describes Harry as laughing as if he thinks it’s a game and then he starts crying when he sees Voldemort’s face is not his father’s and Voldemort hates the noise, casts the spell and boom. So I think it’s less that he didn’t witness the death more that he didn’t understand what had happened when he saw it. Having that moment of “oh my god this person is dead!” Is different than being able to look back at the event as something sad. It’s that click of watching someone go from alive to dead and understanding the gravity in that moment that allows you to see thestrals. I wonder if it would work to see a beloved pet die.
I guess I am in the minority that really look forward to weekly installments, rather than waiting to binge the whole series. You guys are my Sunday thang!
Mine too, even my bf knows that Sunday evening is reserved "for the boys" and he doesn't make any plans, just leaves me in our bedroom to enjoy, while he does his thing in the other room :3
I think Dumbledore didn't know about the invisibility cloak until James was an adult in the order, and later lent it to him, and when he realized he had it he was like "This explains so much". If he knew at the moment James was in school, he'd probably have known about the Map, too, and he definitely didn't know about the map, as we find out in GoF when Crouch mentions it to Dumbledore
I just wanted to say here on the final chapter what a brilliant idea this has been. I have listened/read these books multiple times every year since they came out. It’s such a massive part of my life and I feel so totally in my comfort zone with this podcast on the background. I am so thankful your doing it and I love the thought I’ve got years of this amazing content still to come. Really loving hearing about you reading these to your kids too, so many great memories of my mum reading them to me as a kid.
I sometimes wonder if the devil's snare part of the journey to the stone was designed for Neville's skills set. Maybe dumbledore presumed neville would be with the trio. Could make for an interesting video - what if neville came with the trio rather than try to stop them?
If Neville went with them, one would be infinitely stuck in the potion chamber. Remember? One forward, one back. /j Honestly, it would not be much interesting video... Neville immediately knows about the DS, Hermione lits the fire, trial passed more easily. Flying keys then - Neville stands around and waits for Harry to catch it. Chess puzzle - Neville stands instead of one piece and lets himself be commanded by Ron. He might capture something, but ultimately... it is on Ron. Troll - he walks around it. Potions puzzle - Harry passes on, either Neville or Hermione gets back to warn Dumbledore, the other one waits for eternity (until Dumblie arrives). Trials done, video done. It is not really that captivating video concept
Here’s a thought. We know chocolate has healing powers because of Lupin and the dementors. What if sweets are magically healing in general? It seems that whenever Harry winds up in the hospital wing he gets sweets as gifts. After one of the dementor lessons Lupin gives Harry a butterbeer (also sweet). Perhaps the reason Dumbledore always has sweets as his password is because sweets in general, not just chocolate, have an often overlooked healing magic? Thoughts?
That's a pretty cool thought. I've always thought the chocolate/butterbeer was effective because sugar and fat make the brain release endorphins, so it was effective against dementors who basically bring on an intense and sudden depression, but it's nice to think that sugar might have other magical healing properties as well.
@@mrax3155 at the end of Chamber, Dumbledore sends Ginny to the hospital wing for hot chocolate and says something about it making people better. So it seems that if isn’t just dementors. But I could be over thinking things. lol.
It seems like in this case as well, chocolate was used to help cheer her up after going through a harrowing ordeal, so the endorphins logic works for that too. Maybe we can look at it not so much that sugar has healing properties that are overlooked, but that it has healing magic so strong that even us muggles have noticed and studied it :)
@@mrax3155 omg as a baker this warms my heart so much. That even as a muggle I’m still able to do magic! Thanks for making me smile! *shares homemade cheesecake brownies*
Came here to leave a question & a review: 1) Is it possible that Dumbledore uses the deluminator to send Fawkes to Harry in the Chamber of secrets? 2) I love your podcast - it's incredible how much you are able to still (after all these years) discover and connect. At the same time it's so easy and entertaining listening to you, i am already eagerly waiting for the next episode 😊
I think that the flaw in Dumbledore's plan in this first instance was that he never thought that Voldemort was literally on the back of Quirrel's head. Dumbledore suspected that he was up to something, but I really think that if he had known that Voldemort was literally on the back of one of his teacher's heads, he would have had Voldemort captured in some way or means without a moments hesitation.
The flaw in Dubmbledore’s plan: was he was trying to force fate into a chamber… Philosopher’s stone is used as bait to lure Voldemort… then Voldemort uses Ginny to lure Harry to the chamber of secrets… Peter is used to lure out the Prisoner of Azkaban… The Goblet of Fire is used as bait to lure Harry to the grave yard… The order of the Phoenix members are used to lure Harry to the Minitsry… The Half-blood Prince lures into a false sense of security… Horcruxes lure Harry to success, while the Deathly Hallows lure Voldemort to his Doom…
I meant by the author as a thematic plot point… Luring is a key element of the Harry Potter series… and Sirius knew Peter was alive, which is why he escaped: becoming The Prisoner of Azkaban.
@NicholasKoeppel I don't think Sirius knew Peter was alive before seeing that photo of the Weasleys in Egypt. Anyway: the fact remains that Sirius is not lured by anybody. While I get your point and appreciate the concept, PoA remains the odd man out also in this list, as in many others.
These podcasts have quickly become my cleaning podcast. I’ll throw it on and I will reset my kitchen after a crazy weekend and I find that these podcasts are just nice for me just to listen to and get absorbed in and not have to focus on what I’m doing. I can focus on what you guys are talking about so thank you so much I look so forward to starting book 2.
Hello and greetings from Sweden! I have been watching Supercarlinbrothers for a few years and it's always a joy listening to your theories and discussions. I just wanted to say that I took this podcast as an opportunity to boost my language learning, and I can now happily say that have finished reading my first full length novel in Spanish. I'm looking forward to reading the next 6 books along with you guys.
Well not only am I listening to the book again in tandem chapter by chapter with these breakdowns, now I'm going to have to go back and re-watch Dumbledore's big plan book by book after I'm done with each book here. What a way to go through the story! It's like my 20th time through the books, so it's nice to have this new way to experience it
Greetings from Germany :D I really love this podcast, I enjoy having something to look forward to every Sunday :) One non-magical-related question: Have you guys been recording unusually much in the last few weeks? Just noticed that Ben‘s voice was a little dry in this episode and wondered why that is… Anyway, love what you‘re doing, keep it up!
Quirrell is the Johann of Harry Potter. For those who are unaware, Johann was a character in the How to Train Your Dragon tv series Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk, and Race to the Edge (Race to the Edge takes place three years after Defenders of Berk). Throughout all of Riders and Defenders, he was thought to be a merchant who was likable, clumsy, easily frightened, and overly dramatic who was always babbling stories about his "travels". Everyone on Berk (except Snotlout) adored him and anticipated his visits very much. However, at the end of season 5, episode 13, Sins of the Past, of Race to the Edge, he was revealed to be an extremely intelligent, greedy, ruthless, sadistic, and psychopathic villain who had been after the "King of Dragons" the entire time. In season six, episode one, In Plain Sight, he said to Hiccup "Since as far back as Breakneck Bog, I've been doing everything humanly possible to rid the archipelago of you and your Dragon Riders." And a minute or two later he states that "The tales I sold you and your gullible father I plundered from real merchants before I sunk them and their ships." It's a meme in the Dragons fandom of calling him Traitor Johann instead of Trader Johann.
"The tales I sold you and your gullible father I plundered from real merchants before I sunk them and their ships." -That actually makes him seem more like Lockhart.
@@AustynSN Well, that was kind of my reaction when he said that. I literally said to myself "So, he's a Quirrell-Lockhart hybrid?" But I was referring more to the cowardly, skittish character being reveled to be the ruthless villain.
Oh this worked out so perfectly for me. I got so excited for this project after the first drop, then totally forgot about it! I rediscovered the podcast yesterday and have therefore managed to do the entire first book in one go! I've been having a pretty hard time recently and this was such a lovely form of escapism for me. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you've put into this wonderful, cosy, fascinating, funny show.
33:39 Well Dumbledore as headmaster can apparate and disapparate on the castle grounds, surely he’d be able to apparate to where Quirrel and Harry are at
Wahoowa! I started following J and Ben as a college student at UVA in 2013. Thanks for not thinking we're evil anymore, Ben 😅. Cavaliers and Hokies unite ❤
Hey guys. With love from Ukraine. Great podcast, great video throughout the year, listening to you wile working and then listening to you again with my wife. What do you guys think: since most of the people were afraid to form families and having kids during Voldemorts time, after he “passed” in 1981 (Harry was one), next year there would be a baby boom, so Hogwarts would start having more kids at school starting Harry’s third year and there would be more people who would be not in Slytherin from now on?
The Baby Boom in real life the west had after WW2 (which let's face it Voldemort basically wizard h*tler) didn't take place immediately in 46 since rebuilding took a but, not until 1949 to 1950 did the Boom actually start. So I'd think that the First Years during Order and Half Blood are possibly the between war Boom Post book 7 The Trios kids would be the new Baby Boomers of the Wizarding World Slava Ukraina
Really enjoyed these podcasts, my favourite chapter by chapter discussions of Harry Potter that I've listened to so far. I like the balance between discussions of the in-chapter events as presented in the books, and also connecting them to other bits of lore and theories. Looking forward to the Chamber of Secrets episodes!
I think its the scar that gives him the echoed memory of his mom dying, since the curse that gave the scare was the same curse that killed his mom and is also the mark that made harry a horcrux and gave him the ability to speak parseltoung. All the other horcruxes gave haunting feelings and illusions
It would be super cool if you changed the set to a Slytherin common room for Chamber and then eventually get to all of them as you go through all the books!
1:07:14 this is in fact exactly why I’m only getting to this now, wanted to wait a bit so I could listen to a few at once and life got in the way, but we’re here now and keen to listen through book 2 as well!
@1:04:38 What's amazing is that in the video game, You can still lose to Slytherin at the end of the game because you did not get enough points prior to the final level of the game. It's really telling that the Video Game went out of its way to give you that scenario.
I have absolutely loved this podcast so far! I've been reading the book each week along with you guys and its been such a joy. I love predicting which random little moments you will talk about. So excited to continue the series!
Just finished the video, and have to say this is so cool. Congrats on completing the first book on this podcast. I'm very much looking forward to all the rest every week.
Love the show! As a long time SCB viewer, the Harry Potter content is always my favorite and I'm happy to see you taking it to another level. A thought/theory that's been nagging at the corner of my thoughts for a while: Do we actually even know whether it's Quirrell's first time in front of the mirror when Harry confronts him? It's not as though he'd be able to make any headway without Harry and it might also explain why Quirrell/Voldemort doesn't outright kill Fluffy: he wants time to scout the obstacles without people catching onto what he's doing. There is a significant portion of time between when he learns the secret to Fluffy and when the showdown happens, and it feels a bit too convenient/coincidental that the trio just so happen to choose the right night. Yeah, Dumbledore is there, but Halloween shows us that he's not afraid to attempt the trials right under Dumbledore's nose...
Love you guys! Keep the amazing co te t coming! As a HP Superfan I thought I knew all there was to know... but you two open my mind to so many ideas I never had... thank you for all your hard work! Thank you to everyone who makes these podcasts/videos!
I love this podcast so much!!! It is so crazy that you went trough the first book so quickly. This is an original way to read the story!!! I also have a question: how did Ron and Hermione get out of the trapdoor if they were very deep out of the castle. At first I thought it could have been Dumbledore who helped him with fawkes, but for sure Hermione and Ron would have told it to Harry but Harry seemed surprised when he discovered fawkes in book two…
I mean the brooms in the key room and/or Dumbledore just going down there and getting them on his own broom (he was flying to the ministry anyway) so could have just flown directly down there to get harry and friends.
Na cause Hermione says that she had sent an owl (meaning that she was already out) and Dumbledore just says something along the lines of "Harry's followed him down there hasn't he?" Amd just kept going
Absolutely loved the whole series! It’s now part of my nighttime routines and I can’t get enough! Please don’t take too long to start Chamber of Secrets - even more excited for the next ones 🤩
1st book is done! Yayyy! I loved the format and I’m really pumped for the next ones! It’s really awesome having one more place to watch/listen to you guys.. much love from Brazil!
I have listened since day one and have been hooked on this series, I’ve gotten family to listen too and it’s been really great, I’ve loved this and am excited for the rest of the books, keep up the good work and lots of support and love.
Under the assumption you could see thestrals (evidently having witnessed and understood death), if you were obliviated of your memories, would you still be able to see thestrals? if yes, what if you were obliviated of your memories, apart from the memory of what a thestral looks like?
What an amazing podcast! I started listening 2 weeks back and have semi - binged the 1st book! And now I'm sad that I can't binge the rest and must wait every week 😭 But I love this deep dive so much! ❤❤❤
Yes yes yes precisely! I didn’t realize that Dumbledore had the mirror of Erised for so long. And being such a talented wizard, it makes sense that he figured out a way to put the stone in it eventually. He himself is even quite proud of it, so I assume to his knowledge, this is the first time something like that had been done. Yet you don’t hear about it in the papers. If Dumbledore had wanted a pat on the back, he would have publicized how he did it, but he never does. Only Harry and a small handful of others ever know he does it at all. Also thank you so much for doing deep dives of each chapter! It is so fun to listen to! See you in book 2!!❤🎉
I think that maybe Hagrid let it slip to the centaurs about the stone in the same way he accidentally led the trio to that knowledge. Also, I think that Harry's memory of his parents' deaths is actually Voldemort's memory. The expanding scene of it is always told from Voldemort's perspective, not baby Harry's.
I'd like to point out that Quirrell was successful breaking into Gringotts. His failure came not from ineptitude, but rather simply a case of bad timing. If you recall the Prophet article said there was a break in but the vault in question had been emptied earlier that day. And Quirrell was not suspected of breaking in, I'd call that a successful infiltraition.
Fantastic ending for the discussion of the first book. I've followed the main channel almost since the beginning. You guys have make my enthusiasm for the Harry Potter series grow, and make the wizarding world more magical with everything yall do! "I'll see you in another life, brother!" -J, SCB-
Hi Hello Howdy! Just wanted to say thank you for this amazing podcast! I just found it couple days ago and i have been listening it at work everyday! I drive city bus so its boring job but this podcast helps me get through it. I used to listen to all of the harry potter books on repeat before but now i can listen to you guys also! Just got through this first book and looking forward to listen to Chamber of Secrets! Much love from Finland ! PS : Listening through spotify but figured ill throw you subscribe still!
I think harry "remembering" lillys death is not his memories but from the piece of voldemorts soul inside him. The piece is reliving its worst moment. The destruction of voldemorts physical body. Because death is his worst fear and his body basically dies
I think it's funny how you guys assume that Dumbledore was having to do the tasks too. I always assumed that he had a secret way in that no one else ever knew about. That's why he was able to get to Harry so quickly.
Thanks, Guys--fun episode today!! Looking forward to the next book. :) one thought: Dumbledore did promise Snape to never reveal his love for Lily, so that's why I think he offered the less important explanation to Harry.
Regarding whether killing Quirrel would have split Harry's soul, Dumbledore implies in The Prince's Tale that intent matters, "You alone know whether it will harm your soul to help an old man avoid pain and humiliation."
This is a bittersweet video, not because it's the end of the first book but because I purposely staggered these videos so I could binge or hold off for when I'm driving. I'm now all caught up 😢
Dumbledore admitted that he can make himself invisible and he can apparate on Hogwarts property. It makes sense that he can pop up just as Harry is passing out from face-melting Quirrell.
I love you guys so much. Listen to this podcast every night before I go to bed. I have a quick question though. Would the Homenum Revelio spell still work if the only other person in the room was an Animagus in there transfigured form?
Voldemort was angry with Quirriel for not being able to rob the bank, that he had to orcuppie him, to instruct what to do. And Quirriel is so selfabsorbt in that Voldemort chooses him to be so close. So he doesn't get what really goes on. Dumbledore is good at reading minds, at quesswork, but is not all-knowing all the time, but he is as fast as Harry to connect the dots. He plays chess with McConnegal so is used to seeing things from all possible angles. And he is studying all the time what goes on. Some of the errors from writers side it is book 1 and maybe it does not get as popular as it is for so long a time. And still it is also 11 years old children they start to be able to think abstract in this age, maybe wizards and whitces litte more progressed. Thanks for such hillarious read through. I likes it very much
Hey guys, I am loving your series on the podcast going chapter by chapter, and I think you guys overlooked how Dumbledore got to the stone. I don’t think he was a chamber behind the golden trio because there is this quote from Hermione in the hospital wing: (And apologies, I don’t have the exact page because I am quoting from my kindle, but it’s in the hospital wing after Ron and Hermione are let in) “”So what happened to you two?” Said Harry. “Well, I got back all right,” said Hermione. “I brought Ron around -that took a while- and we were dashing up to the owlery to contact Dumbledore when we met him in the entrance hall - he already knew - he just said, ‘Harry’s gone after him, hasn’t he?’ and hurtled off to the third floor.” So my theory is you guys could be right about a second trap door, but I think the more likely answer is Dumbledore maybe had a patronus in place to alert him that Harry made it through (possibly Snape’s obstacle was enchanted to send a patronus to either Snape or Dumbledore in the event the final obstacle was passed by Harry). And to get to the mirror chamber, Dumbledore creates a portkey on the spot like in Order of the Phoenix page 221 when he casts “portus” to get the Weasley’s and Harry out of the Castle before Umbridge can interfere Plus, I think there is a line in book six where Dumbledore mentions manipulating the castle’s protective enchantments and muses, “being head master comes with perks”
Rowling commented on the thestral thing. Harry not discovering that he could see them at the end of book four was just an author's decision to not introduce a new mystery at the very end of the book, which would have distracted from the story that was told. But yes, he would have been able to see them then. I think Harry "witnessing" his mother's death as an infant is simply a case of him not yet being aware as a conscious being. None of us are really aware at that age, even if weird flashes of things come back to us later in life. Going back to the thestrals, I guess as fans and readers, we just have to decide if our suspension of disbelief can be stretched to include Harry not noticing them at the end of his fourth year.
Maybe Dumbledore apperated near the final chamber. I've always considered the Headmaster extempt from the Hogwarts apperation ban. Here's my headcanon: A split soul can only be made by cold-blooded murder, same for a Horcrux. That's why Harry destroying Quirrel doesn't count. I've always thought that Thestrals only appear once you have a deeper understanding of death, and that's why they only appeared for Harry after the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
No exception from the rule in the books. In the HBP movie, they disapparate from the tower or Dumbledore's office, but that's only because the movie wanted to skip the trip to Hogsmeade the book contains solely for that reason.
I never signed up for a subscription so fast. I have a top candle warmer and that 100 some hours your candles have will get me quadruple the scent time. Highly recommend the top candle warmers if anyone is planning to get the candle subscription.
The thing is that Quirrel didn't fácil the bank Hesit. He got in and he got out no problem. The only reason he "failed" is because Hagrid and Harry picked up the stone earlier. They never knew who did it or how. But they know he got in the vault and out
Hey brother! My sister and I love this podcast and what y’all do on SuperCarlinBrothers! When we were reading the books, there would always be little things that we would not understand. For example why when Firenze saved Harry in the forest, the other centaurs were so mad? I LOVE the explanation you gave! Our question is: what if Firenze didn’t step in to save Harry in the forest?
Had a thought while listening to this episode. Fluffy was connected to Hagrid. The flying keys was for Harry, the chess board for Ron, and the potions logic for Hermione. What about the Devil's Snare? Was it part of Dumbledore's plan for Neville to go with them through the trap door?
What if the reason Dumbledore got there so quickly is because he was already there and just watching to see how things played out. He told everyone he was going to the ministry but he instead was going to the chamber
56:04 Dumbledore didnt know about the inviability cloak while james was at school. It wasnt until james loned ot to Dumbledore that he explained how he had used it
i've got a little bit of a theory on the topic of harry "remembering" his mother's death.. towards the end of the series, there's a moment where harry and voldemort kind of mentally becomes "one" where, from voldemort's perspective, we see the entire night of the potter's murder played out where it ends in voldemort fleeing as a spectral fog in unbearable pain when harry comes to again and realizes he's harry, not voldemort. i think it's fair to say that the "memory" harry recalls as the series progresses is actually kind of a legilimency related to the horcruxes and his link with voldemort as a result. he's reading the memory from voldemort's mind, not actually remembering it from his own.
Here me out: What if "Harry's memory" of Voldemort killing Lilly is actually the horcrux in him remembering what happened, and therefore not a contradiction that he can't see thestrals before Cedrics' death
I remember reading chapters 16 and 17 out loud to my mom as she was making dinner. When I said, "It was Quirrell," she stopped what she was doing and said, "WHAT!!??"

I love that by (accidentally) making Harry a horcrux, Voldemort DOES end up completing the set and having a gryffindor horcux.
Oh yes, how LOVELY 😜
And honestly, Harry being descended from the Peverells is arguably more special than Gryffindor's sword.

It is not really that captivating video concept
@Alwarin1 perhaps more of a "what if it was the golden quartet" type of video throughout all the books would be more worthwhile
Thoughts?
No
That's a pretty cool thought.
Came here to leave a question & a review:
1) Is it possible that Dumbledore uses the deluminator to send Fawkes to Harry in the Chamber of secrets?
2) I love your podcast - it's incredible how much you are able to still (after all these years) discover and connect. At the same time it's so easy and entertaining listening to you, i am already eagerly waiting for the next episode 😊
I think that the flaw in Dumbledore's plan in this first instance was that he never thought that Voldemort was literally on the back of Quirrel's head. Dumbledore suspected that he was up to something, but I really think that if he had known that Voldemort was literally on the back of one of his teacher's heads, he would have had Voldemort captured in some way or means without a moments hesitation.
The flaw in Dubmbledore’s plan: was he was trying to force fate into a chamber…
Philosopher’s stone is used as bait to lure Voldemort… then Voldemort uses Ginny to lure Harry to the chamber of secrets… Peter is used to lure out the Prisoner of Azkaban… The Goblet of Fire is used as bait to lure Harry to the grave yard… The order of the Phoenix members are used to lure Harry to the Minitsry… The Half-blood Prince lures into a false sense of security… Horcruxes lure Harry to success, while the Deathly Hallows lure Voldemort to his Doom…
Peter is not used. Nobody knew he was still alive. He happens to cause Sirius to escape Azkaban, but nobody planned or used this.
I meant by the author as a thematic plot point… Luring is a key element of the Harry Potter series… and Sirius knew Peter was alive, which is why he escaped: becoming The Prisoner of Azkaban.
@@NicholasKoeppelwoah
Me too!
I also live in Sweden, are u in Stockholm?
Concerning the ‘an even more secret trap door’ I personally think Dumbledore uses Fawkes’ Phoenix teleportation to get there.
Or maybe Dumbledore just fucking sprinted for it.
Well not only am I listening to the book again in tandem chapter by chapter with these breakdowns, now I'm going to have to go back and re-watch Dumbledore's big plan book by book after I'm done with each book here. What a way to go through the story! It's like my 20th time through the books, so it's nice to have this new way to experience it
Greetings from Germany :D
I really love this podcast, I enjoy having something to look forward to every Sunday :)
One non-magical-related question: Have you guys been recording unusually much in the last few weeks? Just noticed that Ben‘s voice was a little dry in this episode and wondered why that is…
Anyway, love what you‘re doing, keep it up!
Yay we are done the first book. Can’t wait to go through the next 6
Please make them as long as possible
"The tales I sold you and your gullible father I plundered from real merchants before I sunk them and their ships."
-That actually makes him seem more like Lockhart.
@@AustynSN Well, that was kind of my reaction when he said that. I literally said to myself "So, he's a Quirrell-Lockhart hybrid?" But I was referring more to the cowardly, skittish character being reveled to be the ruthless villain.
"You turn the page, read the first line and now your not gonna sleep..." that line describes my childhood lol
33:39 Well Dumbledore as headmaster can apparate and disapparate on the castle grounds, surely he’d be able to apparate to where Quirrel and Harry are at
4:15 the same thing happens in Chamber of Secrets with Ginny, she‘s always mentioned in throwaway lines
So I'd think that the First Years during Order and Half Blood are possibly the between war Boom
Post book 7 The Trios kids would be the new Baby Boomers of the Wizarding World

Chamber will finish right at my birthday 🥰 I’m so excited every week for tuning in, I’m always looking forward to the next one 😊❤
1:07:14 this is in fact exactly why I’m only getting to this now, wanted to wait a bit so I could listen to a few at once and life got in the way, but we’re here now and keen to listen through book 2 as well!
This always comes out when I’m alone in a big building having lunch. It’s amazing to have this podcast for my Sunday lunch!
I can’t for an inevitable 3 hour long episode deep diving into one of the more beefy chapters lol
@1:04:38
What's amazing is that in the video game, You can still lose to Slytherin at the end of the game because you did not get enough points prior to the final level of the game.
Congrats on passing the first big milestone! Thank you a lot
You guys are awesome. I can’t wait for these videos weekly now that I’m caught up. SuperCarlin brothers are awesome delving into HP and what they do
I love this podcast so much!!! It is so crazy that you went trough the first book so quickly. This is an original way to read the story!!! I also have a question: how did Ron and Hermione get out of the trapdoor if they were very deep out of the castle. At first I thought it could have been Dumbledore who helped him with fawkes, but for sure Hermione and Ron would have told it to Harry but Harry seemed surprised when he discovered fawkes in book two…
they took brooms from the room with the flying keys
I mean the brooms in the key room and/or Dumbledore just going down there and getting them on his own broom (he was flying to the ministry anyway) so could have just flown directly down there to get harry and friends.
Na cause Hermione says that she had sent an owl (meaning that she was already out) and Dumbledore just says something along the lines of "Harry's followed him down there hasn't he?" Amd just kept going
Had a great time guys! Thanks 😊😊😊😊
This has been amazing. I can’t wait to get into this episode! Cannot wait for the rest of the series!!!
Incredibly peaceful video to watch pre episode!!!
So glad you're just going straight into the next book! I've been enjoying these so much :)
Been listening to the pod since the beginning and thought I’d come check out the video version (and subscribe obviously). Really cool set!
Nice way to end my birthday, thank you for the unintentional gift!
Can't wait for book two!! I have loved this series/podcast so far.
This was really fun to follow along, can't wait for Chamber one of my favs.
Absolutely loved this. Would have loved a bit more of a wrap up at the end :)
I love all the exposition dump chapters. Give me all that lore
Awesome podcast, looking forward to the next book!
I think harry "remembering" lillys death is not his memories but from the piece of voldemorts soul inside him. The piece is reliving its worst moment. The destruction of voldemorts physical body. Because death is his worst fear and his body basically dies
My head canon is that it is so prominent because it is Harry and Voldemort’s worst memory
@@celinavivian1162 omg your right
I adore listening to these every week! So excited to start CoS 🥰
I have to say every time I’m impressed again and again by your intro and set!
I really love this podcast, as well as popcorn culture. These are sort of like a bunch of friends hanging out.
I think it's funny how you guys assume that Dumbledore was having to do the tasks too. I always assumed that he had a secret way in that no one else ever knew about. That's why he was able to get to Harry so quickly.
Guys, amazing that we are at the end of the first book! Love the Carlin Brothers and what they do! Until the next book!
Thanks, Guys--fun episode today!! Looking forward to the next book. :) one thought: Dumbledore did promise Snape to never reveal his love for Lily, so that's why I think he offered the less important explanation to Harry.
I love this podcast every week!!
kinda weird they didn't discuss hagrid getting Harry the album at all
Regarding whether killing Quirrel would have split Harry's soul, Dumbledore implies in The Prince's Tale that intent matters, "You alone know whether it will harm your soul to help an old man avoid pain and humiliation."
This is a bittersweet video, not because it's the end of the first book but because I purposely staggered these videos so I could binge or hold off for when I'm driving. I'm now all caught up 😢
I'm sure there's other podcasts out there to enjoy.
I'm currently rotating between NADDPOD, this podcast, and then Scotland yard confidential.
Dumbledore admitted that he can make himself invisible and he can apparate on Hogwarts property. It makes sense that he can pop up just as Harry is passing out from face-melting Quirrell.
Love this podcast!
I kind of missed the part that would discuss his way back to kings Cross...
And also Hagrids book with all the photos!
Loved every bit of this can’t wait for more!
I love you guys so much. Listen to this podcast every night before I go to bed. I have a quick question though. Would the Homenum Revelio spell still work if the only other person in the room was an Animagus in there transfigured form?
Book one already. Wow time flies. Love this ❤
Voldemort was angry with Quirriel for not being able to rob the bank, that he had to orcuppie him, to instruct what to do. I likes it very much
Excellent! First book. Thanks again for my coffee and Harry Potter moment on Sunday.
Great job brothers!
Hey guys, I am loving your series on the podcast going chapter by chapter, and I think you guys overlooked how Dumbledore got to the stone. I don’t think he was a chamber behind the golden trio because there is this quote from Hermione in the hospital wing:
(And apologies, I don’t have the exact page because I am quoting from my kindle, but it’s in the hospital wing after Ron and Hermione are let in)
“”So what happened to you two?” Said Harry.
“Well, I got back all right,” said Hermione. “I brought Ron around -that took a while- and we were dashing up to the owlery to contact Dumbledore when we met him in the entrance hall - he already knew - he just said, ‘Harry’s gone after him, hasn’t he?’ and hurtled off to the third floor.”
So my theory is you guys could be right about a second trap door, but I think the more likely answer is Dumbledore maybe had a patronus in place to alert him that Harry made it through (possibly Snape’s obstacle was enchanted to send a patronus to either Snape or Dumbledore in the event the final obstacle was passed by Harry). And to get to the mirror chamber, Dumbledore creates a portkey on the spot like in Order of the Phoenix page 221 when he casts “portus” to get the Weasley’s and Harry out of the Castle before Umbridge can interfere
Plus, I think there is a line in book six where Dumbledore mentions manipulating the castle’s protective enchantments and muses, “being head master comes with perks”
I’ve been looking forward to this all week. I can’t wait to start the next book!
I have enjoy this so so much! Thank you both for doing this.
First time watching the video and seeing the set! It is absolutely fantastic!!
But they know he got in the vault and out
My man dumbledore just out here speedrunning the obstacle course
I love this deep analysis of the book and I can Hardley wait to start the Chamber of Secrets!
I'm so excited for this. I watched all your videos so far. I love your podcast so much. Love from South Korea.
Love the idea of asterisks being involved in Quidditch stats and records.
Here me out:
What if "Harry's memory" of Voldemort killing Lilly is actually the horcrux in him remembering what happened, and therefore not a contradiction that he can't see thestrals before Cedrics' death
