I am glad I merged these documentaries together to make it like an extended edition and show how better Halo was without DEI.

Nothing beats getting out of school and hooking up split screen with your boys and having LAN parties playing tower of power. Simpler times.

Kinda got choked up watching this. Remember watching it when i got my Halo 2 game/DvD combo. These guys werent worried about the political climate, or worried about pissing off some group of people, they wanted to make a fun fucking game. Did they wanna make money? Sure, who doesn't? But they wanted to earn the fuck out of that money and they put everything they had into their product. This type of game studio is rare these days and i feel fortunate to have had these experiences that future gamers may not. Thanks for uploading this, my dude.

I truly don’t believe the Halo franchise will ever eclipse the Bungie trilogy. Was a different time in the video game era before studios were forced to prioritize profits for corporations. Also truly sad we will never experience E3 and midnight releases again. Glad I was around for it

I really don’t like how the industry prioritized greed over passion.

Bungie being forced to cut like a 1/3rd of the levels in the game due to their own mismanagement and Microsoft actually wanting the game to come out before the 360 launch is purely prioritizing profit.
Halo 2 was still an excellent game, but lots of things from the Bungie era were done for profit foremost. Like Halo 3: ODST becoming a full fledged game and sold at retail price, despite nobody thinking it was worth that, it was done to make more money.

It's all a cycle. Men in sheds made the industry. Corporations are running off the steam.
It will reset. But the sacrifice is our heroes are dead

I love how devs were passionate about making games back in the day.

@@ChristianFrates1997 When did devs stop being passionate? Was it in 2023 when Baldur's Gate came out? Or in 2019 when Disco Elysium came out, or all the way back in 2015 when the Witcher came out?
Devs never stopped being passionate about making great games, but corporate greed has stifled creativity and stopped passionate people from making the games they want to make.

Whilst interesting, you cannot take this documentaries as fact, they are advertising pieces for the company and the games. For example, around 10 minutes in it focuses on their E3 presentation, which Jamie Grierer calls all real and being played live, rather than being pre-rendered or pre-recorded segments like many devs do.
7 years later, several developers admit to journalists that the entire demo was fraudulent and misrepresented the game, it was done on an engine that they had to scrap because it wouldn't work at the scale halo 2 needed to be. The demo WAS smoke and mirrors.
Of course, that's missing from these documentaries, because Bungie aren't going to admit to their failings in content designed to advertise.

@@doghat1619 the difference is they delivered. The same bad practices still happen today, but the final product is garbage and there is zero accountability. If Bungie back then hadn't delivered, they would've either gone bankrupt or been dissolved. These documentaries weren't marketing, not entirely at least, they definitely added value to the experience. So much so that Halo 2's collector's edition remains one of the most priced special editions in the industry, and this documentary is a big part of that.
