Sweet Saws! I just picked up a K88 with 5/8 arbor from the little local antique shop in my town. nicely polished with all of the receipts dating back to original purchase. such a killer saw! they don't make em like these anymore.
Josiah, just got Porter Cable K89 circular saw at a garage sale, $1.00 . Heavy saw, so how did you get bearings for yours to rebuild ??. You UA-cam video was very good and I want to clean this one up. Came with the box and papers but the papers aren’t in good shape. Saw works throw. Thanks. Dennis
@@clockbuilderhg I saw one on Craigslist priced around $300 and it languished for months and months. I think it is fair to say we collect these old tools for love not money.
Hi, I'm restoring an old Speedmatic 10, it has a bronze drive gear that was mounted on the jackshaft with some type of sandwiched rubber washers. Mine dry rotted. I was wondering if you ever ran into this during your restorations and if so have you found a suitable replacement for the rubber washers?
I have a 10" saw with the exact same problem. Unfortunately I* never got back to fixing it. I've heard of somebody making some rubber disks for replacement. It might take some experimentation as you don't want too much slippage in the rubber. It was to protect the bronze gear from damage.
I recently got a speedmatic 508 and noticed the grease port, been looking around for type of grease to use and if I should take it apart, clean and replace. Little to no luck, any help would be greatly appreciated.
@@clockbuilderhg I like your videos mr.josiah. I have 3 Skil Skil saw one is a model number 77 ser.number 725365 trying to find out what year it is. All are still in the original box. About how much are they worth.Thank you Ray Barrow
@@raybarrow1694 Those are good saws. I'm not sure when they are from. You could browse Ebay and see if you can tell what they go for. I haven't looked at those saws in a while.

Awesome! Thanks for the demo!
I'm glad you enjoyed!
How do you service this ? Is there a manual online?
No manuals are available. I had to disassemble it without.
Nice, by which I mean awesome!!
What is a good working 12" 542 worth? (3/19/21)
If I was to sell my saw, I would probably try to get at least $200. I've seen them sell for $300 on Ebay but they can sit for a while at that price.

I think any good bearing grease will work. Don't over grease it though as too much grease will build friction and excess heat.

I saw the notification but I don't think your comment came through. It doesn't appear in the comments.
