Protoss Mission 10: Eye of the Storm (final mission) - StarCraft Walkthrough / Speedrun

- The Zerg base is heavily protected, especially their aggressive queens and defilers can be very annoying for most army types. You can nuke the Overmind with ghosts, but it's not a reliable strategy due to all of the overlord patrols.
To no surprise, mass carriers are once again the easiest strategy. The biggest threat are the Zerg's defiler's plague spell, which brings them all the way down to 1 HP. I bring along some observers to try to spot the burrowed defilers, but I get hit nonetheless. Just make sure to go all the way to the population limit and you should be able to power through.
Played on Version 1.16.1
Tassadar: "Not all of us may survive the coming conflict"
Mission Objectives: *_Tassadar, Raynor, and Zeratul must survive_*
Fenix: >.>
_"Are they gonna send some backup for us?"_
_"You've not enough minerals!"_
14:50 The Golden Armada
Despite the dated graphics, the final fight looked epic with all the capital ships and fighters. Thanks for an entertaining LP.
20 years pass, and this becomes protoss metagame in sc 2.
There’s so much they got right about sc2 missions, and so much wrong. I feel so incredibly railroaded. Every mission feels like the most annoying ones from sc1.
This mission is ridiculous easy if you swarm mass marines. 5 groups. Pierce a path.
No need for stim until you reach the overmind. Use gas for armor and damage upgrades with 2 engineering bays. You might get second upgrades if you are slow enough. Range is optional since most zerg cuddle you.
I’ve never tried that, but I’m also really finicky about minimizing losses. I figure I’m supposed to get everyone I can home when this is over. Of course the attitude has caused me to delay expansions and attacks so that more people are lost, so there’s that.
@@robertaylor9218 Hahahahaha I feel the same way. I get sad when I lose a single marine. So my game is usually slow and I tend to save and load every time a group of my dudes die!
@@oshoc01 so I tend not to load or restart. I figure I made a mistake, we lost some people, and I need to bounce back. I figure that too is part of it. But I definitely have to fight the urge.
@@robertaylor9218 I know what you say. I guess if you start with Terran, you really play carefully. After realizing LOTS of warriors should be sacrificed for glory with the Zerg, I reached the Protoss and I was like "well, it is what it is". Anyway, I still try to protect my crew when I play random matches vs AI.
no pixels were harmed during this production...hilarious!!
That joke went completely over my head when I was ten considering I thought it was some type of Fairy (pixie fairy).
I go heavy on tanks and goliats. Kill everything, and then expand around the overmind :) takes me hours, Maybe I should play sim city instead.
I use a mix of every unit in both factions, and I have them all make a simultaneous push towards the Overmind.
@@Thoralmir carriers and arbiters kiting when they scourge, and targeting overlords as a top priority. I have also used battlecruisers as an anti scourge escort (very effective, as long as you don’t let yourself get surrounded).
Wow, I compared my mass battlecruiser strategy to your mass carrier one and you actually beat the Overmind earlier. Good job.
I went mass carrier and battlecruiser
@@TheBakingYeast both carriers AND battlecruisers? That seems like a lot of setting up since you climb both tech trees.
@@hnkul702 it is a lot of tech, but upgraded BCs are one of the best units at sniping Scourge. It's not like this mission is a time crunch anyway :D
@@amplesstratleholm7609 Yup! Just need level 1 upgrades and those scourge are done for =)
Just do a basic tank push; way faster.
Carrier fleet are the solution to all protoss problems.
Starcraft, Mission 30: "Auir will not fall!"
Brood War, Mission 1: "We must flee where the Zerg cannot follow us!"
I always wondered about the light that appears over the Overmind... is it trying to make a space warp to escape, or is it part of Tassadar's attack, separate from the main Gantrithor collision? 🤔
trying to escape
what a glorious ending. :)
Why not make a few high templar & make several hallucinations of Tassadar to have the enemy suicide units attack them instead, when once those units are gone, send in your carriers to blow up everything that's now without any suicide units.
good idea
Yeah, there's definitely something not right about this. Your defenses are sparse, and illogically placed, and the enemy isn't attacking you. I've played this mission many times, and know that the zerg are relentless, and you need to keep building bunkers and photon cannons or they'll eat right through you. Watching you for 10 minutes, I've seen you kill one zergling.
"HERE COMES THE GANTRITHOR!"
"OH FU-"
19:09 Oh, f***
Tassadar:HERE COMES THE AIRPLANE!
Overmind:OH F***!
OH N-
Been enjoying this playthrough Stu, Just 1 issue in the playlist protoss 9 and 8 need switching around other than that great job :D Has been a great series to watch love your speedruns!
Крутая тактика, спасибо, из всех прохождений, это понравилось больше всего.
You're really organized when you build.
bro i get overrun by freaking ultralisks in the first 5 minutes
Master!!!!!!!
this map could be cleansed in 15 mins only by protoss.terran need to built 1 supply for pridycing more workers. u should take upper protoss base and win with dragoon-templar-archon army
Dude this strategy worked wonders not nearly as quick as you did it And I kept getting my Terran units nearly annihilated by random attacks but I pulled through lol
Wonder why kerrigan wasnt around to help the overmind. I havnt played ahead to spoil that part so at this point im curious why the overmind wouldnt have his greatest weapon around
That question isn't truely answered until starcraft 2. I hope you've been enjoying the game so far.
@@solring5721 Iv loved the game since the mid 2000s I just never got to play the story thoroughly until now. Kerrigan's campaign is kickin my butt a bit. Im obsessed with the story
Haven't played SC2 but I think it's because she knew that she could take over all the zerg if the overmind died.
@@Gloom_Shroom_Gaming which would make sense but I would think the overmind would force her to show up. Just started SC2 so I guess Ill see

The remastered credit scene is not as good as the original game's credits. Especially the special thanks section, whose idea was it to make it a huge ball of text rolling through the screen? It might be intentional since the special thanks list is pretty troll. And then it tried to automatically replay the credits again. I almost got tricked to watch it a second time in a row. Furthermore it just kept playing the same 10 second music over and over again.
Fenix that mean jim raynor tassadar that mean mengsk zeratul that mean alexei stukov jim raynor that mean draliska hunter killers
I was able to infiltrate and destroy the overmind with 8 Battlecruisers and 10 carriers in a pinch attack, just barely. Probably would have been easier to go this route
Is funny that out of all people i know that play this, they always use terran for the main assault.
Bc is just a lot better dealing with scourge, and marine is too op
Yeah, siege tanks can destroy buildings fast and battlecruisers can snipe scourge.
Poor Overmind.
неееее...мое мнеие- батлкрузеры лучше против зергов
