I have a stowa classic marine 36mm handwound for over a year now and I'm still in love with it. Just a beautiful clean watch, I definitely recommend them.
Simple explanation regarding the Sellita/ETA topic: They just switched from automatic ETA to Sellita (for obvious [availability] reasons, just like the majority of all watch brands using swiss made movements) about a year or so ago (manual perhaps even earlier). The watch we are seeing here is older than that.
They updated the website accordingly: I bought mine in July 2021 out of one of the last batches using ETA 2824-2. When ordering, they still advertised ETA; but IIRC for a while, they had a statement on their site explaining they would switch to Sellita.
It seems they just didn't take new pics of all their inventory with a new Sellita in the back yet. Reasons may be the high price of professional product photos and the relative small size of this company. Please take note of the serial number (they call it "Gerät Nr." to be aligned with the history of Flieger watches) of this watch; it is actually the 503th they made of this model. They don't make too much of these...
I thought that your accents were getting better. I was wrong.
As a Brit 🇬🇧, very hard to understand
@@JRGRAY-33 Do you mean, as a civilized man ...
OMG,
I can’t even get through this video without having to comment again. Jory you are ridiculous but you almost always make me laugh and I appreciate that the most! Thanks man.
My take is I would REALLY rather not have to deal with s screw down crown on a manual wind watch, which I would opt for on this one to save 10% on the thickness.
Archimede Pilots are very nice as well. Bought mine back in 2006.
STOWA is a company with history, legitimacy and excellent service and quality control. STOWA does not falsely claim to be the "only" or "first" at anything, unlike the brand with the crown, so yes, STOWA is worth every cent.
I really like them, saying that I prefer my Alpina Startimer, 100 meters water resistant and treaded crown, for me a better everyday watch! Huge fan of the channel!
I have the Stowa Marine Roman in 40mm with the manual wind movement. One of my favorite watches!
Me too! Had it for about four years and and it is so classy, gets compliments in public and looks way more expensive than it is
Couldn’t make it through the video
Yet another great vlog.... thank you for all that you do! Oh I have been watching these watches with a keen eye on pulling the trigger on one. Thank you; I think that you just helped me on my decision! I'm going for it. Keep up the great work! Love what you do with the channel...!
I've got the no date sterile dial manual in bronze and really like it! If you're thinking about buying one got for it.
I've had my eye on a manual, no-date, sterile flieger from Stowa for a while, this may convince me to pull the trigger sometime in the future 🙂
Stowa is a really amazing watch company, this is actually on my short list of watch wants.
I have an Islander Type B homage but saving up for the Stowa
Lol...Jory has obviously not been taking his meds again 😆😆😆
Great video Jory. That Verona just something special
The Stowa has better lume than the Oris Pro Pilot as I had the 45mm Oris ProPilot and the lume was a missed opportunity for Oris. I don’t know if the newer versions have better lume application.
Dr. Corbin was cool but what's his beef with Federico? Lol On a more serious note - Stowa or Laco? Which one would you recommend and why?
I just ordered one a couple of days ago. Went back and forth on this and the Laco flieger pro, which does have a screw down crown and 200 m WR. Stowa won. It’s a bit cheaper, and thinner for the manual wind, and I heard the laco crown digs into the wrist for some. I might be able to deal with the 50 m WR and make the Stowa an everyday watch if I put it on a rubber strap. 100 mm WR and non-screwed down crown for the manual wind would’ve been more reassuring. Oh well. No perfect watch.
I’m owning a Stowa for the last 5 years and I’m more then happy with it. It’s an amazing watch! I own several watches amongst others a Breitling aerospace. But the Stowa is my every day watch.
You just got an older version. They used to make these with the ETA but if you order one today you will get a Sellita. I have the 36mm Marine Classic and it is absolutely amazing! Also threaded crowns are one of the most overrated specs on a watch I think. You just don’t need them IMO, especially if you get the manual wind version.
A threaded crown would ruin a flieger. Fliegers should be 100% identical to how they were made during wwii. Otherwise it’s not a flieger
@@Ferien7 100 % identical? Do you really want to wear a 55 mm watch?
@@kdks7843 if you want a “flieger”, yes
Would take a look at Archimede the proportions for flieger look really good on the wrist… after buying a 42H titanium (sterile dial) I bought a 45mm and now want a B dial 42H version now too.
I’ve tried both stowa and laco and the Archimede is just a lot nicer
Always great content, thanks for the inspiration
Best Federico impersonation ever!!!
I’ve been subscribed for a few months now but I hope your other channel hits 10k subs too bro x
Tell you what, my man, I remember when 3 yrs ago a Stowa Marine 36mm cost €600. Lool at their proces now!
Aye, everything is getting crazy expensive.
Keep taking the meds, they are obviously working! Loving the channels :)
Lack of ar coating ruins this. It’s a shame that very few watch companies know how to apply ar coating. Crystal glare is a pervasive problem in the watch world
Haha, loved the Federico impersonation! 😂 I assume you’re friends? Or were? 😂
We are. 🤣
at least no lights went out this time when you mentioned the supercharge
This is a slap in the face to the IWC Mark series.
Been eyeing Stowa as my next watch for some time!
What brand are those glasses? I like that look...thanks!
I think they're Warby Parker
@@The_Gato Thanks you Gato. You are right!!
I don’t know if I should spend the extra buckaroos to get a Stowa or should a settle for a Laco, they both have similar heritage and cachet, looks the same also, only thing is the movement 🤔
Stowa was founded in 1927 and was one of the official supplieers of the German Luftwaffe (like LACO or Hanhart). I really like the Stowa Flieger Bronze Vintage. It looks awesome, but it´s a little to expansive for me (1.450 Euro). I bought a Junkers Flieger (42 mm, 10ATM, screwed down crown und japanese automatic movement) for 450 Euro instead.
Your impression of Erwin Rommel is spot on!
I subscribed Jory. Even though I only ever want two things out of a car, Comfort and reliability. So yes, I drive a Lexus NX. I’m just saying, I got kids to take to football practice and fishing gear to haul. Lol
Like them, deffo on the ever expanding wish list
If you want a threaded crown you can go for the Flieger Sport 43, IIRC it has 200m water resistant. I'd personally go for a type B Flieger Sport 43. Fliegers are my favorite type of watch and I'm glad you made a review of it.
Didn't like the German Fake Impression/character.
video starts at 5:40
Thanks Corbin.
Stowa makes nice watches. I've had a few (anteas, marine originals)... Expensive, but good.
I had a bad experience ordering a watch from stowa. Ordered a special edition watch that was supposed to have a top grade(decorated) movement and it had a base movement in it. It was probably around two months of dealing with them before I got my refund, and I didn’t even get a full refund due to shipping out of country etc. the watch seemed decent, but the quality control obviously wasn’t great to have such a huge oversight (the caseback is open, ffs. It had the wrong movement. Pretty easy for every employee who handled that to see the mistake). I’m sure others have had great experiences but my first experience will be my last. Too many other great options around the $1k mark to forgive that.
What other great options?
I have got a STOWA Classic Chrono (limited edition - one of 90 - manual wind). The factory is about 50 km (about 30 miles) distant to my home town.
Threaded crown on a FLIEGER? No way! The original German Flieger watches never were water resistant and therefore is no need for a threaded crown. Its contraproductive to a manual wind too.
How much??
That watch fits you well..... dunno why, but it belongs IMO.
It was rather hard to bear this introduction, but I did it.
I think a good video would be watch’s that you do think are “perfect”. Maybe at different price points? 🤔
I love the watch, but I scratched that itch with the Laco Augsburg for much less money. Maybe I can be convinced that this one is so much better that it is worth the extra cost?
Picked up an IWC Mark 16. To me these are the ultimate and I'd rather save for IWC to be honest. Check them out while still reasonable In price
You’re getting real heritage with iwc
@@Ferien7 absolutely agree. They feel very similar to Omega. Lovely feel and quality
What about the IWC makes it worth 4, 5, even 10 times as much as the Stowa?
Is it built by unicorns?
@@scottparis6355 I guess nobody needs anything more than a Casio F91W eh!
I guess I'll just say that there is no reason to get an Audi when you can get a Fiat... it still does the same job!
You're paying for a feeling I suppose... I've had Hamilton, Seiko, Casio etc.... actually sold that IWC now and my only watch is Omega Aqua Terra 2503.50.00....it cost £2400
Was that worth it at 10x the price of a Seiko? To me - ABSOLUTELY
You can't put a price on the feeling of having something special, which is made beautifully, which is high quality and very accurate, and will still be special in 30 years. I don't think I can say the same for generic cheap watches
So FOR ME, buying something great once is better than buying lower watches 100 times over
This Omega for example... the quality is just stunning. I would say its worth it much more than the IWC because of the level of detail the applied markers, logo and hands which shine amazingly in any light (they're rhodium plated), the case looks and feels superb, the movement just looks gorgeous.. and it's a watch im really proud of owning...
I worked out that over my 5 years of getting into watches, I've actually lost £2000 simply by buying and selling different watches..... my mistake was rushing into it and buying random stuff.... so yes, I think it's worth getting a quality product if it'll be a watch for life / for many years to come...I would rather do that to be honest, but yes - just my personal take on it
So when it comes to the IWC, I can't really comment if it's worth it for the price, compared to other similar watches. But if you love the pilot look, and you want a watch for life, personally I think you'd appreciate owning something special.
The mark 16 was very well made. I loved the quality finishing on the case, and that stunning stark dial which was supremely legible..I loved the solid case back, which is very industrial and high quality...
Are you considering one?
I'm enjoying my Omega much more, but the IWC was a great watch
That German guy is a hoot! Not sure who he is but you need to get him back 👊
I’ve had a manual wind white dial Flieger for 4 years and it’s an awesome watch
You should Collab with Doughnut Media to supercharge your Porsche.
Loved it and quite amusing 🤣
Ive bought 6 watches from fed and the gang. They are amazing.
Unless its omega rolex or Cartier give it to someone else.
Laco is light years ahead in my opinion with their fliegers (and the dark sandblasted case is closer to the original too). Take a Dortmund or (smaller wrist) Heidelberg and it's as close to historically accurate as possible, bar the size.
their non blued hand fliegers are very meh, Lacos are also blander looking for whatever reason.
Nice watch. More from the Doctor please 😁
That movement stuff is concerning but I think it's upgrade, but you think they would be clear about it...
They switched to Sellita ~1 year ago but not all product pics are updated yet. Pics of new and future models will show the correct movement I guess.
Hello nice mister Goodman ! As you know Invicta has more than 5000 models and about 50% are larger than 50 mm and I also think many of them are ugly ! You make very good videos but I think that many of you experts are unfair to Invicta and they are very cheap but full of quality ! The odd thing with Invicta is that they often claim that normal price is much much higher ! Good weekend to you and your wife plus cat - buy also a dog !!! Michael from Denmark
Stowa was an OK brand about 5 years ago, when the entry swatch group brands used non modified eta movements. Now swatch has completely leveled up their game and I don’t think brands like Stowa will make it. There is no reason to buy stowa over hamilton, tissot, and mido for the average Joe 😢. Still hope they make it.
Theres still plenty of reason beyond the movements. Most dont care that much about the movement, as long as its quality
With the possible exception of the Marine, those 3 brands don't make anything like the designs that Stowa offers.
Stowa doesn't make a field watch, Hamilton doesn't make a flieger.
Lots of reasons to buy a Stowa.
Loved the Finklefuckadiddle character...sorry, the transcription would have been intolerably tedious pour moi...
Oh dear - poor old Federico - Jory - please do a Archie Luxury rip sometime - just to prove like that you have totally lost it - PLEAAAAASE
I never won any giveaway in my life pls t3 give me a shot
Dr. Korbin Papshmearscreech is uber awesome
Drunk german doctor goodman
Noice boieeeee
Laco makes basically an identical Flieger, and with a screwdown crown
Laco fliegers are very different than stowas
@@Ferien7 They literally have the same heritage as two of the original Flieger manufacturers, and same Type A/B dial layout, same blued hands, and use the same movement. They even cost about the same when you spec them identically (SW200, sapphire caseback, date)
@@zachtan heritage has nothing to do with what we’re talking about. The actual watches of the two brands are very different. Stowas are nothing like Lacos.
@@Ferien7 Have you actually seen them side by side, let alone worn them? As far as I'm concerned, both of mine are very much interchangeable, with a 1mm difference in diameter and a different date position.
Not cool to slag off another watch content provider.
Fed is my friend- relax.
that rotor is hideous
Maybe its just me but that vera workhorse thing is ugly AF... not liking that thing at all...
That accent is American german 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yoooooooooooooooo
That was hilarious, can't wait for you to get some more German watches in to bring the Dr back.
Your presentation is very irritating
I’m definitely not for everyone! 🤣 Thanks for stopping by!
Watch is class, humor is ass
Pronounced "Stova" my man!
And BMW is pronounced “Bee Emm Veh” but we don’t say that in the US, do we?
@@thetimeteller wtf does that have to do with it? BMW is an acronym, Stowa is a name, there’s a markedly different custom in handling the pronunciation of these two categories.
Ok. I wouldn’t expect a Frenchman to say “Burger King” the same way an American English speaker would. Are you confused how regions and accents work? I’m surprised you have enough grasp on any language to even type a comment. 🤣🤫
Shhh-tow-va
Not a fan of the shots at Fed. Done business with him on the buy and sell side four times and very happy every time.

You sure you only lost 1mm? 🤣🤣
Sorry mate can't listen to your BS acting .

Love you and your content, T3 but please, NEVER do that German accent ever again.
It sounds like you're acting in a bad Corn Movie where you stunt double for David Hasselhoff.

Tough to watch....hard to see someone try so hard to be funny and not succeeding.
I don’t know man I used to like your videos but now I feel you are taking this hobby all too seriously.
Please don’t do this again
😅😅😅😅😅😅🥃
I had to sit through that terrible accent and acting. Wow...I must really love watch reviews.
Presentor German accent is not needed, nor is it necessary.
Better than Asian accent. Most of their companies are looked down on.
Yes, they are
i promise your video engagement will increase significantly if you shave your cheeks and be less annoying
we're here to learn about a watch, not your stupid attempts at german
Horrible circus ...
T3 failed trying to be funny in the intro. Luckily the rest of the review was better... Forgot to mention Sinn though.
I failed “trying” to be funny because I simply succeed. Effortlessly. Thank you!! 🤘
