This intro was the reason why i started to play StarCraft. A buddy of mine had the game when it was brand new and unknown (to me atleast). My friend called me over to his computer where he showed me this intro. I was blown away by it. Shortly thereafter i got my own copy of the game and started to play the crap out of it. I never was a multiplayer guy so that whole side of StarCraft eludes me.
It's a Carrier, but this intro was made way back before the game's design was finalized. That's why the Terran ship shown in this never appeared anywhere else, either.
2:14 Starcraft II's title splash was WIMPY compared to it. This one is loud and boisterous, gripping you of the glory and horror of war in space. SC2 just has some chilling strings and chants.
Did not realize they were playing Shotgun, Zerg, You in the beginning when I replayed this. This shit was the bomb in 1998. Still prefer the original to 2 any day.
@@zacharyjochumsen9677 Actual fun fact did you know starcraft was supposed to be 40k terrans/obvious, zerg/tyrannid, protoss/eldar. After the deal fell through they just ran with it and GW lost the legal battle.
@@wisemysticaltree2866 Yeah, now. It wasn't so obvious or stereotypical 30 or 40 years ago. Sci fi pioneers had humans, alien hives and advanced aliens but I'm not sure anyone put them all together until the 80s.
Haha my dad also used to play ra 1. But i love ra 2 more. The music and the gaming experience was nostalgic; just like my current and fav rts. Company of heroes. Lol out of topic in sc comments.
lol who cares about off topic :D I loved ra2 and yuris revenge :) Mind controlling all the races and getting nukes, psi-storms, and storm generators all at once :) plus the story line was so heroic and awesome :D
They are out looking for broken ships abd stuff to haul back home to probably sell whats left and another more advanced ship probably the one that blew it up in the first place came back and blew them up too
The specific song used throughout this video is called “First Contact” but the full version of the song in the beginning of the video is called “Jem’s Song” and is played in the Wings of Liberty Jukebox
Can someone give a transcript of what they're all saying? I'm trying to make a translation of the whole game, and there is no transcript of this intro anywhere :(
And then Joey Ray survived that encounter to build a bar on mar Sara.
logic 100
Lol
And the protoss miraculously lost beam ship to ship weaponry
Whoa!

Same
This trailer was included on the Diablo CD. I remember first seeing it waaay back in Feb '97.
Wow, such great memories :)
yeah man, just seeing this again for the first time in 25 years. whoa!
"Damn, you're ugly." XD classic!
Well, quit picking at it...

That Terran ship just looks like a normal cargo or mining ship. I would not like to have that in my fleet arsenal anyways.
It appeared in rendered concept arts. It wasn't supposed to be in game. It's just the scavenger's ship for intro purpose.
Actually in brood wars cinemática appears
Starcraft changed my life
Man that opener track, hit me hard in the nostalgia gland

holy shit even though the graphics are outdated, Blizzard's old cinematics kicked ass!
did anyone noticed the mexican guy speaking in spanish at 1:40? that made me laugh xD. man SC1 was and still is epic!
Who's here in 2024 missing their old gaming days?
here
Ahh i loved playing red alert, and counterstrike/aftermath with my dad xD
I was always the soviets :)
Even with the aged graphics, the design of the trailer is still tops. The sound doesn't even need updating, it's still solid.
omg that is THE reason to play sc. So many good custom games online, it's like a whole other world
Wow, i remember playing this vid numerous times on my Pentium 166.
Back then: Cool intro video
Now: And that, boys and girls, is where Joeyray's Bar and Jem's Song became part of the lore.
My Voodoo card... first time I could see this without chopping.
I don't remember the intro being this good of a quality :)
lol Starcraft 1 was alot darker and scarier than starcraft 2 lol
Even WarCraft 2 was darker and scarier than World of Warcraft. I was getting in my teens and I loved it.
@@Agent1W fun fsct did you know star craft was kind of modeled after aliens

@@alimaeus455 yknow the trio of humans, space insects and advanced aliens are literally the most generic sci fi factions?

haha i hadn't noticed the spanish part back then.

Is that Clarence from The first make of Robocop?
When SC was good.
I know it is 7 years later but it is still good. It was good 7 years ago too.
Epic intro, to me the graphics still look pretty damn good. Besides the game's content/story is superior to any other criticism, lol..
Well, so much for Jim.
This Jim or Raynor?

this music is also playing in the starcraft 2 campaign :D
Vaya, cuando anunciaron la versión remastered recien escuche a la voz en español que habla en el video. :O
Anyone 2021??
this reminds me i want to play starcraft right now xD
Ah, the memories ! ;)

Anyone remember the less censored version on the Diablo (or is it war2x?) disc?
Oh the memories :)
Still never really understood what happened in the trailer :D
My guess is that this is when the protoss were starting to purge the terran planets that had zerg on them
They are out looking for broken ships abd stuff to haul back home to probably sell whats left and another more advanced ship probably the one that blew it up in the first place came back and blew them up too
One might try to find and read the game's manual for context. It's really good.
They are scavenging destroyed ships and they become one themselves
Yeah true man, I cant wait for generals 2
What is the title of the song in the beginning of the video?

Búscala como "Starcraft - Jem's Song"
@@darkzircon8165¡ gracias capooooooo!
Why isn't this opening in the remaster?
Awesome video game.
I can count the polygons!
Very 100% true, sc 2 is like red alert 3. Too cartoonish and is for kids
Carrier or mothership?
Can someone give a transcript of what they're all saying? I'm trying to make a translation of the whole game, and there is no transcript of this intro anywhere :(
Have you tried contacting Blizzard if they still have the script laying around?
Would honestly rather get disintegrated by the Protoss anyway
purifier beam, ftw
the thing of it is.... that looks nothing like a carrier lmfao...
so what exactly is it that shows up an blows them away? I can't tell who it is...
Probably a protoss purification ship.
Questa intro appartiene al miglior gioco mai fatto.
werent xel nagas extincts...
I'm pretty sure its toss purging the planet and any living thing that is trying to escape.
In Starcraft 1998
Never made sense why the Toss glassed these guys lol
wow, I didn't remember the explosions looking that bad

Unban Swifty!
Wo Warcraft 4???😠😠😠
blizzard is a company which exists to make money, if you have an issue with it take it up with capitalism.
And you were saying this 12 years ago. Wonder what you will have to say about the current state of the company
