Thanks Debra hope all is well. I’m traveling home from Tennessee right now. I was on my first mission trip with my church. We helped some people fix there houses up from a flood. It was a Awesome time.
What’s the timer ⏲ on your pool pump please? Where you got it from and how did you set it up? My pump is running 24 hours I need a timer that makes it run for 12 hours only
FPL south Florida is also 14cents kwh, my 2hp pump was running for 5hrs/day (no low speed) and it was time for a new pump. I got the vevor 1.6HP solar pool pump (2" inlet/outlet) at $480, compared to a 1.5HP Hayward in-ground pool super pump it's actually cheaper. They also have 1.2HP (900watt) with 1.5" inlet/outlet more suitable for a pool your size. If I wanted brand new solar panels would need to spend $1000 on 4-6 panels (series + parallel ) to get 90-130VDC at ~1500watt. I got 10year old used good conditions panels for $250 so my RTI on the panels will be 10months as I should save $25/month. The pump is brushless variable speed. No timer needed if the sun is up the pump runs, and the more sun there is the more you should run your pool-pump so it all works out.
@@DIYJIM Ok thanks I was just wondering I have the same pump as you but all the timers I see show for rated for 1/2 or 3/4 HP but I run it on low most of the time
I didn't vote for him either Jim, in reality I don't think 3/4 of his votes were legal votes. I've gone to the cemetery and told my mom and dad, "do not vote for him again". LOL Good vid as usual.
@@zjustman Na, don't want to lie about it. Some of us dumb butts really do have formal education. We had to work for our degrees, didn't have the luxury of getting our knowledge thru visions or missions. ROFL
This all depends on the way the pool was plumbed ie: pipe size / length of pipe run / how many returns the pool has most supposedly pool builders just slap a pump and filter on a pool if the filter is too small this will drive of operating costs as well because its a.choke point causing the pump to work harder to push the water thru the filter weather its sand or a cartridge sand is the best choice a cartridge is ok but cleaning is a pain and they are not as efficient because the pleats collapse over time limiting how much ot filters stick with sand and a VSP not one.with high and low vsp lets you tune to your pool
If your objective is to save money you’d be better off with a 1.0 HP motor for a pool that size. Many homeowners mistakenly believe that “bigger is always better” when it comes to pool pumps. In actuality oversized pumps are more expensive, less efficient, costlier to run and can damage filters, heaters, etc
On medium my Hayward uses 134 watts but on high uses 935 watts. 1750 rpm verses 3450. It’s not worth it. Low is 621 rpm’s and uses 21 watts. I run it 12 hours a day on medium. The new pumps are very efficient compared to the older ones.
Who knows! I was on hold for over an hour. The tech seemed more like a read between the lines only. The W3 means direct replacement part number! Either way your content is awesome!
So on high it would only need to run for around 6 hours on low prob the entire 24 hours the water was just dribbling in the filter container not even filling the container basket. So divide the 24hr $95.25 by 4 and you get $23/month so you would save approximately $4/month and I'm not sure your turning over the same amount of water in 24hrs as you are at high speed for 6hrs. So a savings of $48/year you can buy a single speed motor for around $160 these motors are $5-600 we'll say $550 so $390 more it would take over 8 years to get your money back but you would have to replace it by then especially if it ran 24hrs. for you it works because you need it quiet because of location. Nice video, like you said you wouldn't have to run it for 24hrs like the low speed prob should be to overturn the water.
You only need to run the pump for as long as it takes to circulate all the water once a day. 12 hrs a day for that small pool and a 1.5 hp pump is way too long. You can get away with half that time. You dont need to have it on for more that 6 hrs.
Hello jim,, If you change your sand filter to a filter element filter you can run your pool on low speed all the time..With the hayward filter element the output pressure back to pool compared to the sand filter is night and day difference..Your pool pump will take less power with the filter element....I tried both with a hayward turbo injector 1.5hp 2 speed pump...

I need to get a new filter and pump set up. I'm definitely going to look into a two speed pump! Thanks for the info.

I think I bought my timer at Lowe’s but you can order on off Amazon just search outdoor waterproof timer. Hope this helps
Dang my friend you did a lot of research…well done.
Thanks for watching
New to pools here. I have an above ground with a deep end. But do you know about the timer? Does it matter which timer you use for the pump?
I just made sure it was made to be outside. My timer is also under my deck so it stays out of the weather. Thanks for watching
Hey Jim your link has 2 options. $449 and a $599 option. I can not tell the difference. Is your pump the W3sp15932s or sp15932s?
I Have the SP15932S sorry for the confusion. Thanks for watching
Great video. Very informative. Thank you Jim. I am definitely going to get a 2 speed pump next time I need one.
Thanks my friend

It is just a timer rated to be outdoors

I called Hayward about the 2 Part numbers. W3SP15932S and SP15932S they are the exact same pump.
Ok thanks, I wonder why one is more expensive and the cheeper one weighs more? Thanks for looking into it.
