This sent me right back to 2016 when my mom, one day, randomly came home with all seven Harry Potter books she got for $20 CAD at a yard sale. I consumed all of them in less than a year. Thank you for taking the time and effort to film, edit and publish this :)
My memory isn't the greatest, after traumatic brain injury and a stroke, but without even seeing the whole title or any comments I was thinking "elder wand" once he turned the knobs into the shaft before he even started the carvings with the Dremel tool. Dang nice job, brother. The masked off micro-carvings at the end were a beautiful touch. You are a talented artist. Dumbledore himself might mistake it for his own wand after a few pumpkin juices.
@@JackMackWoodturning the full set, of course. Gotta mame Harry's, Hermione's, and Ron's too. And also anyone else's you can find a confirmed picture of. Maybe Mr. Malfoy's wand in cane?
@@JackMackWoodturning Jack, the coffee grinder you made a few weeks back is absolutely the pinnacle of craftsmanship. We were both transfixed and I hope YOU’RE proud of that one. Just stunning!
Love the wand and hispeed drill work. I cut my turning teeth on wands before I switched to bowl forms. Maybe I'll have to revisit to get my skew skills back! Great and interesting work. A wand with a hidden box in the handle would be cool, for instance. (Hide a phoenix feather, maybe. 😉)
Those Pheonix are really hard to come by. Might go for the feather of the mighty bald eagle, but be careful there as well as they are illegal to possess, if you are not a confirmed Native American in the USA. Perhaps the feather of a wise owl?
Thanks John.. at the moment I think my son would just pick his nose with it.. but one day he’ll watch the films/read the books and he can wonder over his real wand then
Phenomenal. I made two elder wands out of an old broken chair. Very difficult to film, and lost half the footage. Mad tricky with the vibrations. Snapped one. Yours, far superior. And where the hell did you get that monster spindle roughing gouge!!? Never seen the like. Crazy skills, well done 👍 👏
Does it hurt when you support your tools with your hand and your hand is against the spinning wood? Also, it looks like the Elder Wand is already in the wood and you're just getting it out! Great job!
Bonjour jolie travail. Pour ma part j'ai une collection de baguettes plus de 200 pièces réalisé a la main avec mon dreemel. Aucun tour a bois.
Love everything you do!!! Would like to know if there would be a way for you to show what each of the products are that you are putting on the pieces as you get closer to the finished product?Im not a wood worker Unfortunatley so am clueless as to what you are doing.Thank you Todd
Any oil will do. Tung oil gives the best results but it takes 5-6 coats with 5-7 days between coats. Danish oil will be faster with only 2 days between coats and only 3-4 coats needed. Pure tung is best for kids as it’s food safe, and ends up water proof and very durable but is MUST be PURE tung oil 👍🏻
@JackMackWoodturning Thank you. I was thinking of a clear varnish satin spray, but I'm not really keen on them tbh. I'm just gonna spray the white part.

That really shows the strength and flexibility of wood that you could get it that thin without snapping. Another cool video, thanks.
