SAMSUNG FRIDGE: HOW TO LOCK/UNLOCK THE WATER and ICE DISPENSER (Control Panel)

- A few people asked if there's a way to lock/unlock the Water and ICE Maker with the Bixby Control Panel inside the Samsung Fridge. I thought I make a video given it's quite easy to do.
In order to change any of the ice makers, you'll need to unlock the panel first. The panel is designed to be child-proof so the kid wouldn't be able to change the temperature and spoil the food in the fridge.
In this video, I'll show how easy it is to unlock the panel and change the Ice Maker settings.

Not many mention that lock feature, only one so far mentioned no night light for the water/ice dispenser! My Kenmore elite has pushbuttons for light on and off!

I have this dispenser with the family hub model. But my light on the external display does not work and I can’t switch back to water but the ice still works do you know how I can fix it?
Thank you. It worked. I just got my new fridge and the water wouldn’t flow. I thought the water line was kinked. Glad I tried this first. Also for those who don’t know, you can get the FULL owners manual online, the one that comes with the fridge is the condensed or “simple” version.

Does not work on our Samsung side x side. There is no internal panel with those buttons, such as for alarm.
I think it must be an external button sequence that locks it.
I don’t understand think. You also can look by pressing and holding water butfrom the door. What is the reason to do that from inside? What’s the difference?
I just bought one and installed but the iced maker doesn’t work, can you make a video how to fix that.
Did you check if the water works? If not working, is the water turned on?
How's the water flow? If it's really slow or nil, check for bents on the water line.
Check if the ice maker is enabled?

The touch panel on the outside of our refrigerator where you push the buttons for water crushed ice and cubed ice is not working at all. It is not on lock I already checked inside the frig on the panel. The outside panel is stuck on the water and won’t switch to crushed/cube. Can you help us figure it out.
So water works when you press the button but can't change to ice? Check if there's ice inside the door?

I have a Samsung, I set freezer temperature to -20 and fridge to 3 but the temperatures come back to 25 and 15. Both freezer and fridge don't work. What could be the problem please
When you change the temperature it will revert back to the current temperature until the new temperature is reached. That could take many hours to achieve that new temperature setting

I just got this same fridge everything else works except the control panel for the water and ice nothing is lit up and I can't select any options for the water or ice. I'm not sure if it's a loose wire or what's going on have any ideas?
Did you try to unlock the control panel before clicking on the other options?
@netman88 the light that highlights each option never came on even after I unlocked the climate control panel and it doesn't make the little chime sound either

I would check the water line for kinks or low pressure to the fridge first.

Push the glass against the lever to dispense to turn it on.

Yes, there’s a light on this model. It goes on when you put the cup against the side of the dispenser.

If you push the cup against the side of the dispenser wall it will come on.

What is the difference between locking from main panel vs locking from dispenser panel?

I have a similar model refrigerator but I'm having a problem where I can choose cubed or crushed ice but it won't let me select water. Usually after a few minutes of trying, it will eventually switch to water. This has been happening more and more frequently. It's not locked (I can go back and forth with the 2 options of ice) and I don't have a filter light on. It's about 6 months old now. Anyone ran into this problem?
Not sure if something is jamming it.
If under warranty, I would open that case and have that unit fixed.

@@nicholasbishop6339 I contacted Samsung and they scheduled a local service technician to come out and they replaced that whole module that you touch to choose.

I came here to say that if this did not resolve your issue (as it did not resolve mine), try power cycling the breaker that goes to your fridge. My lock was not displaying and i couldn't switch between water and ice. I power cycled and now everything is fully functional

I turned off the circuit breaker for the refrigerator for 20 secs and it still didn’t reset. 🤦🏾♀️

I replace the filter and I get no water in the picture or out of the spout. I take the filter out and everything works fine somebody please help I’ve reset it. I have locked it I’ve unlocked it. I’ve done everything I can figure out to do.
Check if the water line is bent or the water is turned back on?
Does anyone else’s dispenser leak water onto the tray below if you have crushed ice? It seems some of the crushed ice remains caught in the chute, melts, then drips to the tray below. I try to reach my hand up into the chute to clean it out with a dish towel. What an annoying design flaw!

If it's the same model or similar, the control panel should be in the inside of the fridge area on the right.
Yeah it’s the later model and has a red switch to reset the door screen. But no panel on the right inside. The panel touch screen also does not work. Hmm

See if there's a valve on the wall where the fridge connects to or the main water supply line.
My ice dispenser has been making a horribly loud noise and not dispensing the ice from inside the freezer. I don’t know who locked the water and ice dispenser but it won’t unlock even after turning the circuit breaker for the refrigerator off for twenty seconds. Help! What am I doing wrong?
It’s has to be unlocked on the ice maker menu.
@@netman88 the ice dispenser noise began long before the lock 🔒 issue. Fortunately, I’ve gotten the water and ice dispenser unlocked. I watched a few more videos and I was able to fix that. I turned up or down the temp on the freezer in hopes that a colder freezer will fix the ice dispenser issue.

It didn't work but I finally figured it out. Had to press down and hold lock button on dispenser for 3 seconds not inside the door.

There's a light where the water dispenses out.
How do you turn it on? It's never been on. I saw a video that says to tap and hold the Ice cube display for 3 seconds. Nothing.

@@MiamiNavyVet It only lights up when you get water. There is no on and off. Like if you wanted to use it as a night light, not happening.
Mine became locked for no reason yesterday. I don't have the same options that this video and every other one seems to have. The bottom button simply says Lock, and the icon is lit. Hold it 3 seconds, it beeps and the icon goes away. However, the dispenser remains locked. After a little time passes, that damn lock icon comes back. I don't have anything saying Water/Ice like this does. This is really bullshit.
Maybe the owner's manual will have a bit more info. I don't know your model so I can't comment.

Probably your model doesn't have the blue LED.
After I unlocked it, it still not dispensing water.
Check the water line if turned on or a bent in the line.

I bought a house two years back and the original owners had just put it all new Samsung. appliances. I hate them all!! Matter of fact I’ve already had to replace the over the range microwave. I bought the same thing again just so it would be a simple replacement. But never again!!
Me too. The ice maker gets heavy frost/ice build up all the time. The ice maker randomly stops working. For 3k😡

Cant count the times the ice has frozen up an we had to defrost it. Over priced pos. Lol! But we are stuck with it.
Haven’t see it happen on the newer models. Older Samsung had terrible issues with that.
