    Got this idea from someone else who replied to this vid. If at first you don't suceed, do the defrost a second time! As in, do it twice in rapid succession. I had zero visible ice or frost in my freezer. But I wanted to try the defrost before calling for service.
    Sure enough, doing it twice in a row worked for me!

      @@MJ-jo8sy how long did you have to leave it unplugged for? I’m planning to do this in the spring after we dewinterize our camper so I can use the fridge in there to keep everything cold. I was also baffled that even after I was turning our ice maker off it was turning itself back on. I just found the answer to that - we’ve been filling the ice maker with ice that a counter ice maker is making and when you hold the ice lever to release that ice it signals the fridge to turn the internal ice maker back on! Stupid fridge.

    Thanks for showing how to get to the Force Defrost mode! I have now conducted this mode 5 times now and I can't tell if it is actually working! (yes lot of beeping haha) Curious what exactly is happening when FD is happening? Is it supposed to melt all the ice created around the top area? I placed a towel inside the maker and was hoping by the time it finished, the towel will be damped but it was dry. Do you mind briefly describe what does the inside of the maker look like after FD mode finished beeping? Thanks a bunch!

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  11 місяців тому

      Howdy, partner! I am not sure exactly where the heating/defrosting takes place in terms of just the lines or the whole ice compartment. If you have a ton of buildup you may have to unplug the unit. I think the FD is more for minor internal blockages. If ice buildup continues, it may be time for a warranty ticket.

      Sounds like a lot of ice build-up. You can use a hair dryer to melt the ice enough to remove the bucket and see if it will all start working again. The other option is to unplug the whole refrigerator, but that is a pain bc of the displaced food.

      @MRGREGSHOWTO after about 4 cycles and getting my fingers up there to loosen some ice cubes, everything became unstuck. It didn't melt to water (thankfully), but enough for the auger to be able to pull the ice forward down the chute. I emptied the ice that was there and voila! All is good. However, I still can't slide the bucket out of the housing. I'm too scared to crack the plastic, and it still feels stuck. Now that it's fixed, I don't need to.

    You forgot to tell everybody That when you go into force defrost That includes the entire refrigerator and freezer.
    I know I defrosted everything. I lost a whole bunch of food because I don't have a little bit of frost. My whole ice Maker froze up.
    And the drawer would not come out. At that point you have to get a steam machine force steam up inside of that ice Maker through the.
    Ice drop
    And completely disassemble the entire ice Maker to defrost it and make it work period I've done it once every 2 to 3 months I'm my refrigerator. It is a piece of crap. You can spend a lot of money on what they call redesign. Parts that don't do anything for you period toss the fridge.

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  7 місяців тому

      That should not be the case. The short 30-minute force defrost cycle is not meant to warm the entire refrigerator and freezer. Sounds like you have something else going on. Thanks for sharing!

    • @AMrfd
      @AMrfd 7 місяців тому

      Mr gregg, that have to do with exactly what I'm talking about. When your ice maker is froze up so bad you can't not get the tray out you have to use it to steam machine to for steam in there to thawed out enough to get that out. Or run the defrost long enough like I'm talking hours to thawed out to remove the tray. When the panel in the back of the refrigerator has ice coming out of the vents slots you have to do the same thing with the steam machine. You can have all the fun you want to frosting your fridge and fighting with it, or you can get smart get rid of it and get one that does not have ice in the door. All the ones with ice in the door have the ice machine in the refrigerator compartment on top and lots of them seem to have the same problem. Do it anyway you want. 🫣
