Don"t turn on the energy saver, because the upper freezer coils will ice up and the fan inside starts making noise. The energy-saver feature is there so the manufacturer passes energy compliance certification. My sympathy for owning a Samsung refrigerator
I actually bought my Samsung refrigerator pre-owned, so I had really no idea what the actual function of some of these controls. Thanks for the valuable information (I live in the south-NC-so the energy saving explanation will help save a little).
Ice maker issues and a design flaw that turned into a class recall that nobody was informed of are the two most common complaints. The water run off from the condenser freezes before it reaches the down spout in the back of the fridge. That frozen water plugs the drain,caused new water to build up and freeze which causes water to build up in your bottom drawers and on the bottom of the fridge interior. It was a nightmare having to defrost with a blow dryer and take out the pool that forms. This would have to be done a couple times a week. After much research I found two Samsung service techs here in the states who gave very specific details on how to fix the problem. Their stories matched up perfectly, which set them apart from 20 other weekend warriors who have myriad of suggestions. It was a design flaw by the people of Samsung and they knew it, but said “it’s okay,not big problem”. Well it was a big problem because the moisture would build up and cause the condenser to quit running (hello warm food). Following the instructional videos produced by the two who spoke from experience the problem was and still is corrected. And that was just running two pieces of copper on each condenser line which produces enough heat to warm the conducting copper that I fed down the drain spout ,thus keeping the water warm enough to not freeze before making it down the spout in the rear fridge compartment. Cost: $4.80 in material. 30 mins of labor. Two hours of UA-cam searching and watching to find the answer. One night of impeded sleep. One six pack of IPA beer. :) cheers and I will never buy Samsung fridge again!
I would never ever buy a Samsung refrigerator again. There is a class action suit against them and this particular type (French Door with bottom dual zone cooling) of refrigerator. The ice maker freezes up constantly, I have had the drain under the refrigerator coils plug up and and cause water to collect and freeze under the separately controlled deli/fresh/chilled tray, and I have had the refrigerator coil freeze up every 1 month to six weeks in the humid summer months. Samsung sold a heater extension to fix the refrigerator coil drain problem - it didn't work either so I built my own (better) extension out of copper wire and now I don't have that problem. However, my Ice maker regularly freezes up and I have to defrost, but the most aggravating problem is the ice build up near the fan at the top of the refrigerator coils and I have to totally empty my fridge to defrost the coils and then refill my fridge after defrosting which takes anywhere between 3 for 4 hours to finish. It took a year for all of this to start developing. Enjoy your 1 year hiatus. Oh, BTW, I missed Jill Marcetti's post and my response is what Jill said, "never... again".

Most hallucinagetics will dilate your pupils and make things seem brighter. Your fridge will be anything but dull. You may spend hours with it, getting to know it on a personal level. Hope this helps.
@Angel Lips With UA-cam app you can change playback speed making it slower or faster. Touch the 3dot area upper right on paused video select playback speed and select 0.75 to slow it down a smidge voila! Excellent Samsung fridge video!! - owner’s manual is not exactly user friendly. Trouble shooting section is woefully inadequate in my opinion.

Fyi if display doesn't work. Unplug fridge for 10 minutes. Press ice maker button for 3 second to turn off lock. Now you can use your display normally.
Fan noise is a horrible problem for Samsung refrigerators. There are many "fixes" involving taking things apart and using a hair dryer to melt the ice, only to have it happen again in a month. Sorry for the people with younger kids they start playing with these buttons there goes your touch sensor. Folks that grid is the price of the fridge don't let the kids play with these features be aware.

punch the "lighting" button one time. Youll hear a chime and the light will go out and only come on for dispensing ice or water.

That's not reverse osmosis. It's a basic carbon filter
