  • This is Ford's most capable Maverick platform. In this video, I'll break down the standout features on the Maverick Tremor. Go over my real world experience with the truck on and off-road and compare it to the Maverick platform I have the most experience with- the XL Hybrid.

    I have a 23 Tremor . I don't find the steering heavy ,but maybe some are different then others . Overall I really like the tremor and find the ride much nicer then the the XL 23 maverick that I traded in . I only have one complaint with my truck ,but maybe its not Fords fault . I have a small dog ,like 15 lbs . When she comes to sit on my lap she steps on all the buttons on the counsel . This causes quite a commotion . Fun fact ,this is the only vehicle that gives me the speed in reverse that I ever owned. Also If you are looking at this truck and thinking lift kit and big tires . You are probably buying the wrong truck . Ford has it about as good as it can be . Thanks

      It's very dangerous to the safety and physical well being of your dog for it to be sitting on the front seat or on your lap, especially if the front airbags are activated.

      Although the Tremor has 9.4 inches of ground clearance, that measurement consists of much of the entire undercarriage of the truck, whereas on the Wrangler and other body on frame vehicles, the 10 inches of ground clearance is at the lowest of one single point at bottom of the rear differential, while the rest of the undercarriage of the vehicle is more than a few, or several inches higher in ground clearance.

    • @DrivingLine
      @DrivingLine  2 місяці тому +3

      That’s correct. The big thing to note I think about this truck in that ground clearance figure is for people that are trying to drive on the sand or even in snow. Where I live, you can drive on the beach and that consistent ground clearance really makes a difference in a small platform like this. You’re not just plowing the entire time.

      I appreciate you saying no lift kit and big tires! These vehicles are out of the factory designed to do what they're supposed to do. People doing all the modification just ruins the truck and makes it worse for any kinda performance other than making the person driving it feel like thier d**k is bigger

    Burning smell is something I experienced but it goes away. I put 44,000 miles on my 22 and I have 9,000 on my 24. But fuel smell in the oil is due to blow by and you will want to change your oil no later than 5k with 100% Synthetic engine oil.

    IMO Sand mode lets you use the power more freely than mud/ruts. I wish FORD had some documenttion on exactly what each modes do so we can use them as needed. I thought Mud/Ruts cuts power to avoid slipping tires on the mud but it clearly didn't as I could see in your video. I'm now confused. I thought Sand mode allowed for more wheel spin.

    • @DrivingLine
      @DrivingLine  Місяць тому +2

      I was under the same impression. I’ve found if there is any rapid change in resistance (ie small hole or ledge) Sand cuts power faster than mud/ruts. If I’m just driving on a flat beach, sand works fine.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 24 дні тому

      @@DrivingLine Is there any reason to use sand mode to begin with? Going up a hill you were able to back down but on flat ground I assume you would have been stuck and switching modes would be futile at that point.

    1200lb payload not too shabby…my 2020 Tacoma Trd Pro only had 986lb payload.
    However, the Tacoma Pro could tow 6400 lbs.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 24 дні тому

      Yeah but with just 986 pounds of payload, you can never realistically hit that tow rating. Tongue weight needs to be 10-15% of total weight. Splitting the middle, 12.5% of 6400 pounds is 800 pounds on the tongue. That leaves only 186 pounds left for you AND any other people, cargo, and accessories. If your trailer has 15% tongue weight you are overloaded from the start. Regardless, 2000 pounds towing is really low on this Tremor. I'd opt for the FX4 package instead for that reason alone. 4,000 pounds is plenty for a vehicle of this size, IMO.

    • @HuronRiver-ke8xn
      @HuronRiver-ke8xn 2 місяці тому +1

      Not in the 2024 tremor it's max towing is 2000lbs. You can get a 2024 Maverick AWD with 4K towing just not the tremor package. I have heard rumors of a refresh in 2025 that the towing capabilities may increase but as of right now it's just a rumor just as the hybrid being available in a AWD. Hope this information helps. Ford has done a refresh on the Ford Ranger which offers more towing capabilities. Just it's a body on frame design making it higher to access the frame still keeps the ground clearance comparable. Personally prefer the Maverick and 4k towing is enough for what I plan on towing.

    • @Mr_Mik3
      @Mr_Mik3 Місяць тому +1

      Not the Tremor, but the other trims can have the optional 4k tow package.

      @HuronRiver-ke8xn Місяць тому

      @@anthonyc178 Your putting your vehicle, you and your passengers and other vehicles on the highway at risk. If an account occured and someone got seriously hurt they would do an investigation. If they found out you were towing over maximum manufacturers limits, not only would you be held accountable but chances are high your insurance company would deny the claim. FYI the tremor suspension is not made for heavy loads or towing and you can not get a high capacity radiator with the upgraded radiator fan. You could be doing irrevocable damage and not notice tell later because of lacking the extra cooling needed for the engine and it's components. FYI that's part of the 4k towing as well.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 24 дні тому

      For total weight, yes, when properly equipped. But I'm assuming that's the weight of the car alone. Trailer will probably be at least another 1500+ pounds, so in that case, no.

      @@DrivingLine You get what you pay for. But I can forgive a LOT of faults at the Maverick's price point. The Ridgeline's shortcomings as a pickup become harder to forgive when compared to the new crop of midsize competition. Low ground clearance, effeminate styling, grocery getter interior, outdated infotainment, mediocre torque, efficiency, etc. It's SO close to being a truly great midsize truck but Honda seems content to keep it a niche vehicle.

Just overpriced garbage now. interior and exterior look great and you can tell they let the industrial designers do their job which is refreshing, especially that little color pop on the rims of the tremor, HOWEVER the Tremor branding is absolutely some sales bro getting their way, because the people who designed the truck would never let that ugly crap on their design.
