I really think u should disable the WLAN instead of the SSID. Disabling the SSID will not disable the whole wireless connectivity, it will just hide your WiFi name. Therefore, it would still interfere the WiFi bandwidth.

Just to add sir, most of the stock router provided by our ISP is just a single band router and nagcacause ng interference usually kapag madaming nakaconnect.

I found your videos very informative. I also wanted to use my router, a Linksys WRT3200ACM, which has been setup as a VPN router. After following the steps you mentioned in this video, I was able to access the internet. The problem, however, is that oftentimes I lose internet connection from the router. Initially, I thought the router was the problem so I used my older router, a TP-Link Archer C5400, and my newest router, TP-Link Archer AX6000, but I still get the same result - internet connection is lost. When I disconnect the router, I have no problems with my internet connection (from the old Huawei modem). Do I need to adjust the configuration of my routers?

You mentioned that when you disconnect the router (wrt3200, ax6000 etc..) everything is working (Huawei modem router). a. Is your huawei modem router, capable of vpn as well? b. Is this issue only via wifi or same with LAN connection (on your new wifi router) ? (Would you be able to try if you will still encounter internet connection issue when using LAN, try laptop or desktop) c. For physical aspect, have you tried to use the other port on your Huawei modem to connect to the new route? also try to use another lan cable if possible to isolate physical issue d. Your new wifi routers are powerful and have dual bands, have you tried using 5ghz frequency? and does it still encounter the same issue? there might be a lot to consider, maybe we can start with this isolation.. :)
Sir, in answer to your queries: (1) I don't know if my Huawei modem is capable of VPN; (2) The lack of internet connection also affects both wifi and lan connections; (3) Yes, I've tried all lan ports of the converge modem and also tired using different lan cables but with the same result; (4) my new routers can automatically switch between 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz. I'm just thinking, do I have to change some settings as a configure my routers? Ordinarily, though, I don't do anything. Incidentally, I tried using my TP-Link Archer C5400 in my office connection where I connect the router to my Globe MyBusiness wireless modem and I can don't experience the same issues!

Hi Refinne, sorry for the late reply.. things to consider, if mag add ng router, the speed will still base on your actual internet speed given by your internet service provider like globe\pldt (regardless kung fiber\dsl or prepaid).. if naka connect ung desktop or laptop mo via lan cable on your prepaid modem, at walang issue for distorted calls, okay internet mo, you can add additional router, pero pag via lan cable directly connected ka na, and may distortion pwedeng issue mo is with the ISP it self, which kahit mamahaling router d ma reresolve un.. okay kung okay naman, balik tayo sa router, yung config mo same lang with the video, as long as dun sa modem ni globe\pldt, (regardless kung prepaid or etc), may extra lan port, ung vpn mo ba is a computer app or a router vpn?

Hi Howiee, the best or fastest speed can usually be obtained sa via lan cable po. if mag add po kayo ng new wifi router if will help na mas stable\ wider coverage ng network mo. and if connecting to wifi mas better to connect to 5ghz since mas stable, while ung 2.4ghz is mas malayo ung singal na maabot nya sa bahay over 5ghz.. if it is a small place and internet speed mo is less than 100 mbps, no issue connecting with 2.4ghz and 5ghz if you are just after the speed, pero if possible, always prioritize na mag connect to 5ghz frequency it is usually better..

Hi, Sir! Planning po sana na bumuli ng asus router but I have no enough knowledge about this. May existing kami na default router from globe and we've been using this from 2014. Pwede po ba yon or kailangan latest routers? May times kasi na sobrang bagal talaga s'ya, as in sobrang bagal to the extent na "no connection" na minsan. Lumilipas yung 1 month na kalahati lang ng data allowance ang nacoconsume sa sobrang bagal at sobrang hassle na po for online classes. Masosolve kaya nya ang issue namin sa poor connection ng globe? Serviceable naman po ang area namin pero lately naging sobrang bagal n'ya. Anyway, this is such a helpful video po. Hi Rainiel, kung ung bigay po ni globe is a modem outer.. before you buy para hindi sayang, try mo muna mag lan cable papunta ng computer\laptop to check kung okay ba ung internet, kung stable naman at maganda via lan cable, buying and adding a new router will help your network performance. pero kung naka lan cable ka na directly from globe modem router and mabagal, adding a new router will not solve the issue, ung main issue is with globe, and they will check ung connection issue nyo, and might replace ung modem router nyo po..

Hi Json, hindi po, wala pong pakialam si modem-router kung may nakakabit na 3rd party router like tenda or other brand, ang magiging limitation lang is like ung modem-router mo is Gigabit lan port then may 100mbps++ bandwidth ka, then and binili mong tenda or other router is fast ethernet lang, hindi gigabit lan, maigiging limitation ng third party router mo po un sir.. and additional is lan cable if more than 100mbps dapat cat5e and up dapat. (pag less than 100mbps internet subscription mo walang issue)

Hi Philip, ung binibigay po ng mga ISP like in your case Sky Internet, is modem-router, usually d po napapalitan basta basta ung modem-router nila. modem functionality are needed for actual internet, while yung mga router available sa market\mall or ung mga nirereview ko is just a router, wala pong modem functionality kaya d sya mag work.. :) i hope this helps po..

Hi Howard, d ko pa na try gawing bridge mode un, gusto ko din sana itest para sa issue ko sa double and triple nat ko.. kaya lang d ko pa matesting kasi medyo hirap tumawag ng support sa converge, kasi baka kahit palitan ko ung mode nya is may mawalang config aside from bridge mode.. then ilang araw ako mawalan ng net.. :)

Hi! Your videos have been very helpful, thank you! Our main internet PLDT router is inside our home office room. We have a PC that's connected to that router. I have just installed the new Tenda extender and was hoping to place it outside the room. Can I still keep the PC connected to the old PLDT router? If so, which port do I use? Hi Ben thanks, technically you should be still able to use the other ports from the modem-router, any ports will do.. i have tested it on PLDT and converge modem-router. (but there are some internet service providers who are disabling the other ports, hopefully your unit is not one of them, if that will be the case you can call them to enable other ports)

Question lang po kasi yung converge router namin 2 LAN port lang kaso 3 kami work from home na need magconnect using LAN cable. Hi Monica, ung additional router po will help, ung total data mo po is always shared sa buong devices connected. ganito po, parang water sa gripo, isa lang ung source nya, malakas ung labas ng tubig, pero pag ung gripo na un dinagdagan mo ng maraming splitter, may papuntang garden, may paputang CR, may lababa etc, pag nag sabay sabay sila hati ung lakas ng labas ng tubig.. sana po nakatulong.. hindi ka magkakaproblema pag nag add ka ng router.. it will help po.. :)

Hi Kvn, pag sinabi mo pong isa pang modem, is mag aaply or kukuha ka ng internet sa pldt? or mag add ka lang ng router para umabot sa 3rd floor? kung gusto mo lang paaubitin ung Signal to third floor, maraming way, either buy a new router na ikakabit po sa Globe nyo, use a lan cable if possible, then maybe put it to second floor kung malakas na router ang gagamitin to cover the entire house (depende sa laki ng bahay)

Hi Paul, for modem outer, i have done that for PLDT DSL since madali lang configuration nun, but for my experience sa fiber, specificaly converge, negative, need mo i coordinate sa kanila kung papayad, since ung sa converge fiber is naka rely sila mac address ng modem-router na provided nila..

Hi Michael, yes magiging double NAT po sya if ever, it depends sa setup mo, pwedeng disable mo or not ung dhcp from your new router.. usually nagiging issue ung double nat with console devices.. then marami pa din pong option para makalabas pa rin ung connection from those console devices..

Ip address usually changes on modem for its public ip provided by internet provider, but there are plans/contract with internet provider wherein you can ask for a static ip (mostly business plan). For router, IP usually are the same.. And you can always set it to the range/subnet you want..

Hi po, there are several wifi router po na pwde nyong pag pilian, ung magiging consideration na lang po is gaano kalakas ung wifi and ung budget para bumili ng router, if mura lang po tenda AC23 or AC5 v3 is a good starting point, if may extra money to spare, go with the ASUS brand mas Mahal nga lang po, you can try to check ung mga router review ko po para magkaidea kayo sinong router ung kukunin nyo po..

Hi Janela, not sure kung bakit need mo i connect ung old stock router using fiber cable, ung port po na un na available for the converge modem-router is a port for modem function... and usually isa lang fiber port for converge modem.. :)

I really think u should disable the WLAN instead of the SSID. Disabling the SSID will not disable the whole wireless connectivity, it will just hide your WiFi name. Therefore, it would still interfere the WiFi bandwidth.

Just to add sir, most of the stock router provided by our ISP is just a single band router and nagcacause ng interference usually kapag madaming nakaconnect.

I found your videos very informative. I also wanted to use my router, a Linksys WRT3200ACM, which has been setup as a VPN router. After following the steps you mentioned in this video, I was able to access the internet. The problem, however, is that oftentimes I lose internet connection from the router. Initially, I thought the router was the problem so I used my older router, a TP-Link Archer C5400, and my newest router, TP-Link Archer AX6000, but I still get the same result - internet connection is lost. When I disconnect the router, I have no problems with my internet connection (from the old Huawei modem). Do I need to adjust the configuration of my routers?

You mentioned that when you disconnect the router (wrt3200, ax6000 etc..) everything is working (Huawei modem router).
a. Is your huawei modem router, capable of vpn as well?
b. Is this issue only via wifi or same with LAN connection (on your new wifi router) ? (Would you be able to try if you will still encounter internet connection issue when using LAN, try laptop or desktop)
c. For physical aspect, have you tried to use the other port on your Huawei modem to connect to the new route? also try to use another lan cable if possible to isolate physical issue
d. Your new wifi routers are powerful and have dual bands, have you tried using 5ghz frequency? and does it still encounter the same issue?
there might be a lot to consider, maybe we can start with this isolation.. :)
Sir, in answer to your queries: (1) I don't know if my Huawei modem is capable of VPN; (2) The lack of internet connection also affects both wifi and lan connections; (3) Yes, I've tried all lan ports of the converge modem and also tired using different lan cables but with the same result; (4) my new routers can automatically switch between 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz. I'm just thinking, do I have to change some settings as a configure my routers? Ordinarily, though, I don't do anything. Incidentally, I tried using my TP-Link Archer C5400 in my office connection where I connect the router to my Globe MyBusiness wireless modem and I can don't experience the same issues!

I think, it has to do with the modem provided... Converge ka din sir?

Hi Refinne, sorry for the late reply.. things to consider, if mag add ng router, the speed will still base on your actual internet speed given by your internet service provider like globe\pldt (regardless kung fiber\dsl or prepaid).. if naka connect ung desktop or laptop mo via lan cable on your prepaid modem, at walang issue for distorted calls, okay internet mo, you can add additional router, pero pag via lan cable directly connected ka na, and may distortion pwedeng issue mo is with the ISP it self, which kahit mamahaling router d ma reresolve un..

Hi Howiee, the best or fastest speed can usually be obtained sa via lan cable po.
if mag add po kayo ng new wifi router if will help na mas stable\ wider coverage ng network mo.
and if connecting to wifi mas better to connect to 5ghz since mas stable, while ung 2.4ghz is mas malayo ung singal na maabot nya sa bahay over 5ghz..
if it is a small place and internet speed mo is less than 100 mbps, no issue connecting with 2.4ghz and 5ghz if you are just after the speed, pero if possible, always prioritize na mag connect to 5ghz frequency it is usually better..

Hi, Sir! Planning po sana na bumuli ng asus router but I have no enough knowledge about this. May existing kami na default router from globe and we've been using this from 2014. Pwede po ba yon or kailangan latest routers? May times kasi na sobrang bagal talaga s'ya, as in sobrang bagal to the extent na "no connection" na minsan. Lumilipas yung 1 month na kalahati lang ng data allowance ang nacoconsume sa sobrang bagal at sobrang hassle na po for online classes. Masosolve kaya nya ang issue namin sa poor connection ng globe? Serviceable naman po ang area namin pero lately naging sobrang bagal n'ya.

outer.. before you buy para hindi sayang, try mo muna mag lan cable papunta ng computer\laptop to check kung okay ba ung internet, kung stable naman at maganda via lan cable, buying and adding a new router will help your network performance.
pero kung naka lan cable ka na directly from globe modem router and mabagal, adding a new router will not solve the issue, ung main issue is with globe, and they will check ung connection issue nyo, and might replace ung modem router nyo po..

Hi Json, hindi po, wala pong pakialam si modem-router kung may nakakabit na 3rd party router like tenda or other brand, ang magiging limitation lang is like ung modem-router mo is Gigabit lan port then may 100mbps++ bandwidth ka, then and binili mong tenda or other router is fast ethernet lang, hindi gigabit lan, maigiging limitation ng third party router mo po un sir.. and additional is lan cable if more than 100mbps dapat cat5e and up dapat. (pag less than 100mbps internet subscription mo walang issue)

Hi Philip, ung binibigay po ng mga ISP like in your case Sky Internet, is modem-router, usually d po napapalitan basta basta ung modem-router nila. modem functionality are needed for actual internet, while yung mga router available sa market\mall or ung mga nirereview ko is just a router, wala pong modem functionality kaya d sya mag work.. :) i hope this helps po..

Hi Azuri, yes thats okay, usually console games like playstation xbox nintendo switch might have an issue with double nat, but still they will be able to play online games.. in my setup my huawei modem have dhcp enable and my main router have dhcp enabled as well.

I have just installed the new Tenda extender and was hoping to place it outside the room. Can I still keep the PC connected to the old PLDT router? If so, which port do I use? Also, I disabled the 2.4 on the router provided by PLDT following the steps at the 12-min mark of this video. Thanks in advance! :)
Hi Ben thanks, technically you should be still able to use the other ports from the modem-router, any ports will do.. i have tested it on PLDT and converge modem-router. (but there are some internet service providers who are disabling the other ports, hopefully your unit is not one of them, if that will be the case you can call them to enable other ports)

Hi Monica, ung additional router po will help, ung total data mo po is always shared sa buong devices connected. ganito po, parang water sa gripo, isa lang ung source nya, malakas ung labas ng tubig, pero pag ung gripo na un dinagdagan mo ng maraming splitter, may papuntang garden, may paputang CR, may lababa etc, pag nag sabay sabay sila hati ung lakas ng labas ng tubig.. sana po nakatulong..

Hi Ronald, is this still not working? have you tried to check if your main modem-router have the same DHCP range with the tenda, if they have the same range try to adjust or change the range on the tenda so they wont overlap..

kung gusto mo lang paaubitin ung Signal to third floor, maraming way, either buy a new router na ikakabit po sa Globe nyo, use a lan cable if possible, then maybe put it to second floor kung malakas na router ang gagamitin to cover the entire house (depende sa laki ng bahay)

Hi, yes po okay lang naman po na ganun, dapat d disabled other lan port, baka pwede nyo itawag sa pldt para tulungan kayo unlock, kasi ung pldt namin dati okay naman, all ports unlock, same with our converge router all ports unlocked..

14watts X 24 hours = 336 watt hours
336 watt hours x 30 days = 10,080 watt hours
10,080 watt hours = 10.08 kwh

Hi Dominic, the idea is dapat automatic na sya pag malapit ka sa router and mas better ung connection mo dapat si router ililipat ka s mas okay na connection. pero napansin ko hindi sya instantaneous, pero minsan un po ung nangyayari.. :)

Hi Sir, yung binili nyo po na wireless router or mga nabibili sa market na wireless router is additional router (not capable of being a modem), so yung main modem router nyo po is still on dapat, then connect a lan cable from the modem router sa wan port ng tplink nyo po.. :)

Hi po, unfortunately d ko pa po natanong kay converge kung magkano modem-router nila, pag faulty modem-router nila nirereplace nila un.. kung bibili po kayo ng wifi-router lang, kahit hindi na direct kay converge.. usually mas mahal sa mga ISP like converge or PLDT pag bili kayo ng third party router..

Hi Michael, yes magiging double NAT po sya if ever, it depends sa setup mo, pwedeng disable mo or not ung dhcp from your new router.. usually nagiging issue ung double nat with console devices.. then marami pa din pong option para makalabas pa rin ung connection from those console devices..

Dinisable mo yung 2.4G sa default modem. Paano makakaconnect ang mga mobile phone na walang 5G? Mga lumang mobile phone ay naka 2.4G lang

Ip address usually changes on modem for its public ip provided by internet provider, but there are plans/contract with internet provider wherein you can ask for a static ip (mostly business plan).
For router, IP usually are the same.. And you can always set it to the range/subnet you want..

Hi Dylan medyo weird, LAN is more stable than wifi, kaya mga smart TV ko if possible naka LAN cable, pero issue ko lang with my smart tvs is 100mbps lang ung lan nila, kaya minsan mas mabilis pa ung wifi kasi kahit 2.4ghz lang sya umaabot sya ng 200mbps++ anund device ung connected po via lan?

Hi Janela, not sure kung bakit need mo i connect ung old stock router using fiber cable, ung port po na un na available for the converge modem-router is a port for modem function... and usually isa lang fiber port for converge modem.. :)
