I played 100+ hours vanilla when I first got the game. After trying mods for the first time I haven't gone back! Now I have over 300 hours and still today spend hours at a time building cities and detailing them! I was uploading UA-cam videos for awhile but I don't anymore
same, after awhile they break down or wont be updated saying their broken then eventually the game will crash on me. Then ill have to search for the broken mod/asset which takes forever when you got 15+ mods and 1000+ assets
Vanilla, but with mods that improve functionality, not aesthetics. ( traffic prez, network extensions, autobulldoze, anarchy, 81 tiles, airport roads, fine road tool, precision engineering, ship and airplane line tool, etc.)
There's also a mod that lets you paint resources like oil and ore wherever you need them, and I think another mod that makes it so your resources don't get exhausted. (So if you just want to design the city how you like and with specialized industry, you've got a lot more power to do that). I use and love most of the mods on your list, so figured you might be interested in these two for resources. I don't remember the names, but they're probably not hard to find. ("Resource brush", "unlimited resources")

My solution is always to put a clover intersection so that one side goes into the residential part of town and the other side goes solely to industry, your people want to get over there but they will clog the intersection, so put a simple two-lane road going ether above or under the highway to the industry directly from the residential because they have no street lights and will not stop small traffic.

Even though mods make everything super pretty, and I love watching lets builds, it's not my way of playing the game. I love the vanilla game alot, skylines on itself is already a super solid game.
Once I get to the point of getting the game (after getting my new computer) I am definitely going for the mods! I like the look of the vanilla game but the mods are so awesome looking!!!
I upgraded my pc just for this game... In vanilla, it looks like you're making some sort of cartoon city but with mods, it completely changes every single thing from efficiency, looks, textures, and more. Thanks to the workshop community who worked hard to provide us with such game changes assets and mods. This game became the king of city building by a long shot thanks to them!
I mostly play modded in most games, not because I dont like what the game dev's have created, but more to the fact that there are more minds making creative additions to the game. Base game is always limited to the developer(s), modded is only limited by the community.
I haven't used a vanilla growable & tree in my game in over a year. :) Frankly I haven't zoned anything in over a year, I plop everything by hand. (My 5.5 year old laptop runs 112 mods. Sure, it can't hit 60fps, but this isn't a shooter, you don't need more than 20fps for this game anyway. 18fps is perfectly playable.)
Sadly my computer can only support a modest number of mods and assets before my framerate is crawling. But at least this way, every new patch and expansion, my save games still get to load!
Since I've gotten used to mods, I can't play the vanilla game anymore, and when updates mess things up I will refuse to play the vanilla until the mods are caught up.
the thing is that these mods are for powerful pcs, whilst the laptops with the minimum requirements can run the stock game. I think this is fine as it is personal preference.

you can make pretty awesome vanilla intersections without road anarchy that allows you to work over certain areas for longer periods of time trying to fit a single lane better for you traffic management
If you play for function and population, vanilla is the way to go. If you want to build a city that genuinely looks good, you HAVE to mod it. I can’t imagine not being able to plop the buildings I want or use Move It. It doesn’t help that graphic mods are on such better scales, too, like the airport. You should have shown the vanilla airport and someone’s custom masterpiece as an example.

I just don´t understand why developers do not make the original game (or games) more complex, realistic and good looking...like modded version of the game.
Vanilla because I play on my 6 years old laptop (not a gaming laptop either). And I'm already happy that the game runs smoothly (unlike my sims 4 game that always needs some time before it finally performs better).
Why do my cities always look bad even when I try to make it look all complex and elevated highways and stuff I fail every time to make my city look somewhat realistic.

Well I play vanilla with just a few mods. Now that I see the difference, I will be kidding tonight

Vanilla because I play on my 6 years old laptop (not a gaming laptop either). And I'm already happy that the game runs smoothly (unlike my sims 4 game that always needs some time before it finally performs better).
How do you make those cliffs with all those largr rocks and trees? What are the specific mods? Thanks
Vanilla: I think the not-so-realistic/vanilla style fits the game perfectly
But modded you can achieve results which come really close to photorealism:)
Still for me, i prefer the base game, because its so dynamic....
I have a pc good enough to use tons of mods, but I still prefer vanilla unless it is a utility mod, like improved traffic manager.
I would use some more mods it really improves the game:)
Mods are very addictive for this game. Once you tried it, you'll hard to back to vanilla.
I have a fairly mid-range CPU, so until I upgrade that, it's vanilla for me.
Yeah my game crashes during loading screen right now, because of cpu..

I play Vanilla. I can't be bothered to worry if a mod makes my game to crash, if a mod gets outdated, etc.
Why do my cities always look bad even when I try to make it look all complex and elevated highways and stuff I fail every time to make my city look somewhat realistic.
I'm only 50 hours in but I really like the gamey graphics. I may have to resort to traffic management mods at one point though.
