Thanks for your videos. Do you know any talc alternatives that are safe to use on tabla heads? All the baby powder in the US is made from cornstarch now and I heard it is bad for tabla heads. Thanks!
Hi Kuljit, I have never played a tabla, so as a total beginner, which set would you recommend (a small drum and a large drum etc) and where would I buy these from, I rather go for a new set, but if I am student then perhaps a second hand set would be an alternative....I live in the UK (manchester area) or is it better buying from pakistan , india etc.....as much info as possible please thanks...PS. good video !
Hello. I strongly recommend that you go for a new set. A secondhand one is a bit of a gamble! There are good shops in Birmingham (Punjabi Roots) and London (Jas Musicals). Both offer a good online dispatch service. There are useful tutorial videos on our website under Strikes & Sounds and Learn & Support. Together with our Read & Play Tabla books, you can make a good start. Best wishes

Sir,
Are you selling tabla in UK?
Hello. We don't sell tabla, but can suggest some good retailers if you are interested. Thanks for watching.
how many bracing to placed on gatis?
for a brand new tabla - one or two. As tabla settles and gets older, you may need to add more.
i one bought a tabla and figured out it is a sur (low tone) tabla
because i had to play "na" as "tu" because of a wiers skin on the outside part of the head
