Fieldy (KoRn), Paul Gray (Slipknot), Johnny Christ (Avenged Sevenfold), Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted (Metallica), Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), John Deacon (Queen), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Steven Harris (Iron Maiden), Tom Araya (Slayer), Ryan Martini (Mudvayne), Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), John Myung (Dream Theater), and Todd Morse (The Offspring) are my influences and inspirations. May the bass heroes and players stay strong, as we are the muscle to the music!!
It may seem easy but it's not what you play it's how you play it , Fieldy is like one unto himself, I'll tell you this, that dude really knows how to cut into the Rhythm he's freaking badass with that low end slap and those creepy little clicks in between, he's definitely a signature type player peace out y'all
Maybe they should put out whatever they don't think sounds really good. They didn't think Blind or Got The Life was gonna be that good or really popular. And boom, Got The Life is one of the most popular songs as well as Blind if that's not the most popular one.
Well it's about time we got something conclusive on how the bassline is played in this song. I never could figure out what Fieldy was playing for the verses, I heard the low end, I heard the clicks but I couldnt hear his exact rhythm because I couldn't quite tell if I was hearing bass or drums even though it was such a simple part. The bridge as well, I could never figure out exactly what he was doing like was he doubling the guitars or doing something rhythmic closer to the drums. Turns out he was doubling there.
Im so glad that technology has gotten so far because now all you really gotta do is search for "isolated bass" tracks. You can find most of your fav bass lines that way and its MUCH easier too transcribe when its just the bass were listening too. I agree though, the verses were hard as hell to figure out even though it was soo simple.
Yeah I thought the first bass tone in the song was a bass guitar but in the music video you can see the drummer hitting an electric bass thingymajig. 😅
I remember when i saw the ORIGINAL band members at the 1999 rock is dead tour with rob zombie. Man they sure have changed. And thats all i gotta say. 😔
Imagine "Are You Ready?" had been left on the cutting room floor? That one lie, totally changed the complexion of the album....and the band as we know them Crazy to think about
Its easy to make fun of korn and their bassist but one thing u can take away is fieldys flat 5 and flat 9. He probably didnt know what he was doin. Annnd when i was like 12 in 1993 i lost my mind in my basement to their fisrt album! 5 inch wood speaker buzzzed
I met Korn first time in 1996 Wolverhampton 🇬🇧 with incubus and the urge when they were raw hungry arrogant bastards lol but met em Many times between then and 2012. Great musicians man but as ppl not my vibe
Man, that “are you ready!!!” Just got he so hyped as a kid. So glad it was left in, it’s goofy over the top, but that’s what metal is
Thats what nu metal was… lol
you are clueless
I still love how he said "good luck" at the end, and they kept the shot of him turning his head away like "I'm done with this bro"
Seemed "Dickish" to me the insincere "good luck"
@@boywonderrr71 Same here, I can't stand people like this
honestly, i agree with him on the “are you ready” at the beginning of the song, but it’s grown on me after a while
Shut the fuck up
@@korn6668 damn, y u so mad
u crazy; best part
it's one of the best part of it
Fieldy’s bass is so grimey I love it.

For me its Fieldy, Les Claypool, Ryan Martini, Jaco Pastorius, Geezer Butler, Steve Di Giorgio(Death), Larry Graham, Geddy Lee, and Robert Trujillo
I love fieldy and every one else you named so NOICE
@@hunteradams6783 I like rob and cliff more than newstad personally I like newstad but I just prefer rob and cliff
@@roninmusic144 I agree Jason was just kinda meh compared to Rob and Cliff
And mike inez from Alice In Chains
Not too into Korn but I always like the string clacking. It sounds like it's another percussion instrument.
I recommend coal chamber if you like a very clicky bass sound :)
Oh shit he got fancy 😂😂
The fact that fieldy is cool with Sharing his knowledge to the novice says a lot about his personality and upbringing.
Exceptional talent.
Fieldy is a novice
@@mlody969 He's been playing for over 20 years so I'd have to disagree.
@@somerandomarmydude Its not about how long he is playing but how skilled he is.
@@mlody969 A novice who's worth 20 million. While you are in a UA-cam comment section eating cheetos.
@@mlody969 yes he may be less skilled than other players but he's unique and had inspired a generation of bass players
His bass sound is the clacking of the strings and a pinch of fret buzz.. you either you like it or you don't
Active pickups and real turned down mids
and on this almost unplugged scenario its common that you have fret buzz
what tuning does he use to achieve this sound?
@@focusstsupremacy it’s scooped
It’s scooped all bass all treble and no kids

IM REALLY LOVE THIS BASS PATTERN IN THIS BASS
I love that tone

How I feel about most Korn songs
I learned how to play this on bass when I was 16 years old.. I play it like a champ now
Born 5/12/94 been listening to this song since I had ears
3:15 LOL
“I said weeeeh” 😂
Love you man!!!!
Blind - apogee of the nu metal no one could express better

Damn i miss playing bass
Why not get back into it?
Wow.
Wish they would put tabs along with these tutorials.
For what? It’s like three notes…😂
😍 please release a K5 with that graphic

Could always get a graphic made at a vinyl shop and stick it to a K5. :)
He's tried getting ibanez to release it but they won't but they should've released it instead of the green one
@@braxtonfps3580 they're still pushing K5s and they're still a really solid bass. I'll keep my fingers crossed

Someone knows what is the design of the cap of Fieldy looks great ;)
3:29 did I hear the bass line at the beginning of “We Ain’t Going Out Like That” by Cypress Hill??!?!?!
I hear the intro the money by choking victim
Yes they said in an interview that they created their hip hopish style by mimicking Cypress Hill with guitars.
is it just on the e string?

I dont play bass. Do the bass strings usually slap that much or is this something fieldy does on purpose?

how can I get my bass to sound like his ?
turn your tuners until the strings are about to fall off, then smack it like a group of chimps fighting over the last banana
Buy a 5 string with active pickups!
5 string
Low action
Active humbucker pickups
Boost some bass
Cut the mids
Boost the treble
