This is really big. For commercial use it surely makes sense. The clamps are a great idea, with the laser heads so close to the surface old versions can be tricky and in the way
I did manage to clip one of the clamp when I was using this yesterday. They float fairly freely so the laser just pushed it out of the way. I was pretty tight on the focus though
Hi Steve, thanks for another informative video. I just ordered my D1 Pro 40W + extension kit and also die RA2 pro with extra standoffs. While I wait for delivery I want to get my enclosure ready. Could you give me an indication of the outside dimensions and how much free room to allow inside an enclosure to allow free movement and access with the 40W laser, extended build area and the extra height of 2x 45mm legs added? Will really appreciate. Thanks.
I did post this in a previous comment for this video because someone else asked recently. Realistically, it'd be better to wait until you get the laser because there is additional space required for things like cables that need free movement. BTW, when you get the extension rails, make sure they send you the 40W cable. Mine came with a cable that was missing one additional plug needed for the 40W. Another user commented on this too. However, if you ordered the laser and extension rails at the same time, xTool will presumably do the right thing.
Hello! I just upgraded from my 5w and got my D1 Pro 20w and I also bought the extension, I use creative space but I don’t know how to make it like read that there is more space because of the extension. I don’t know if I explained myself 😅
I got your point. This should have a simple answer but I can’t think of it right now. I don’t normally use XCS because my entire shop is lightburn. Maybe ask in the Xtool Facebook group.
Is there a reason that you have your new XL laser bed size set up as "portrait" rather than horizontally (landscape) in LightBurn ? I'd have thought that it would make life easier in landscape ???
I have the D1 pro 10w. Can I upgrade to the 40w? Also, if I can what kind of difference will I notice? (Just able to cut thicker wood or does it cut faster?) I mostly only cut 3 mm basswood
You might have to send a message to xTool to see if they still offer this upgrade. I think now they only offer it as a complete laser. If you are cutting mostly 3mm then I would say an upgrade wouldn’t be worth it. You would certainly be able to cut faster, but it’s a pretty big cash outlay. Certainly if it’s just time to upgrade your laser, then look for more power, but there are a host of lasers in the 30-40W range that have great pricing.
A good question and I think the answer is still no. As I was doing this review I was thinking about building an enclosure so I don’t have to leave my garage door open to use it. I assume xTool will be working on some sort of enclosure for this though

Hi Steve, you were my first woodworking related sub. Love your “Alton Brown” approach. It’s science! 😆
Miss the project/business related videos.
It has been a while since I did anything business focused. If there’s some specific you want covered, just shoot me a message.
Hi Steve, nice video! Can you share with us the outer dimension of the D1 Pro with the extension? I would really appreciate it.
It's about 1140mm x 540mm on the outside. You can use google to convert this if you speak feet/inches

Hmm that’s an interesting question. I guess it could be flipped in Lightburn
does it come pretty level or do you get a dip in the middle?
The sides are channels so they are straight and strong
@@SteveMakesEverything thank you

@@ursulap23 Thanks! Helping is the reason I started this channel. 😀

So what is the exact working space of the x?...17''??
This was a test to see if you watched the whole video😉. I included an image to show that the work are is 930mm x 430mm.
Did you go From a 20w laser to a 40w laser.
I was trying out the 40W module. I’ve now switched my main diode laser to the S1, though I also use the Wecreat quite a bit
do they make enclosures that big?

They do now
@@DH-ht9pl Great, thanks for the confirmation of this.
Hello. How much was the cost?
I saw it in their site …..300$…..it is affordable I think.
Yes it’s about $300 for the combo, which I thought was pretty decent
