I don't know who is doing this trumpet solo, but my guess would be Red Rodney, because that is his sound. I'm not sure what he would of looked like in the 1970's.
@@josepalacioz5101 Sure is, he looks pretty much the same in the Maynard videos. What a solist! Here he blows the living crap out of the solo before Maynard takes over with his usual stuff with what sounds like a coke crazed edge to his time. ua-cam.com/video/bWtnt6SdpJU/v-deo.htmlsi=NKg6LwtEj-CTwy9j BS's solo on the album version is one of my favorites.
Que bello tema "pecosa" de Sammy Nestico, que hermoso arreglo y el inconfundible swing de la Big Band de Count Basie!!
I think this has the most unusual intro I've ever heard on a Basie tune.
Godd. Simply the best.
Больше такого джаза никогда не будет(((
@lickingravy999 you are correct, it's Bob Summers. Great ain't he? Check him out playing There will never be another you.
Bob Summers!!! Who is playing lead?
Willie Cook is playing lead.

I believe it’s actually bob summers
It was Bob Summers. I'm pretty sure Red Rodney was never in the Basie band.
Thank you!
