there is a "ghost Basie band" out there touring! When I interviewed him Count tod me that he liked the idea of his band continuing after he was gone, and cited Duke's band as an example!
Cleve Eaton lives near me. I get to hear him constantly! 'So great. Last December, he played the whole month in a Walgreen's with a sax man on holiday tunes.
Thank you so much for putting this concert in UA-cam 🎉 when I have recently arrived to New York to work at a very prestigious bank that had ha ha ha ha for its officers balconies… And it was my introduction to CARNEGIE HILL and the first time I saw my dad’s favorite music… Fantastic
This cat has got the cream . Two concerts on the one afternoon . I really would have enjoyed them all the more but my wife has a sour on . I did help around the house & went to the supermarket . Women
Good but for me not as great as the 1935/ 45 period with Lester, Walter Page, Freddie Green and Jo Jones and the 1955/65 one with Sonny Payne, Freddie Green and Eddie Davis .... the greatest band (with Ellington) ever
11.12.24 FROM UK.UTUBE BASIE CONCERT CARNEGIE. Listened to this today in order to see id audio was wkg. Yes its everything the folks claim. What a pity the full concert is not here. Was this just before he passed away because can not see many other concerts by him later than this. Me, because of major illness became less auditory but its not all bad cos I got an improved personality for what I do and that includes exposing crrptn. Still nice to hear this again after some yrs. Was warned about health issue 35 yrs prior to it happening how curious is that. The exposure currently 1000pp in extent which is why we get Police attacks. Lookin forward to gettin off the sick planet. Carnegie? Aint they all.Go on utube delete this. Just like F-BK (involved in scams with UK Govt. etc etc)
I did some research and I found a flyer for this concert. Drummers name is Gregg Field countbasie.client.jp/discography/at_carnegie_hall_81.html Never heard of him, nor is there really anything for him. Ashamed because he's a great swinging drummer.
